Servers still working and connected and Uplay Required to play Online Multiplayer?

Hi, I have two questions about Far Cry 2 Online trophies. 1.Were the Online Servers still working and connected? 2.Dose this game required a Uplay/Ubisoft Connect in order to play online multiplayer to get the online trophies? I don't have the game yet, but I was concerned about a recent formue about Game's Online Servers. Can someone tell me if the Game's Online Servers were still working and connected and if Uplay/Ubisoft Connect was required to play Online Multiplayer in order to get the online trophies? The MP and Community Map servers haven't worked in nearly a year so the Plat is completely unobtainable but the UPlay servers were deactivated years ago, though all they did was give you access to some cosmetic tat that was of little value.
