While Xbox 360 owners everywhere andPlaystation 3 owners in North Americareceived The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 1.7 update on August 9, European PS3 owners have had to do without. That will change soon though as Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines communicated Saturday that the patch should be out at the start of the work week.

"1.7 Update for PS3 is expected to be up in Europe on Monday," Hines said via Twitter.

The European update was originally supposed to release the week after the North American update. During this entire delay process, Hines would not say why the 1.7 update for the PS3 version Skyrim was delayed for so long in Europe other than it was still going through certification with Sony Europe which is different than Sony America.

During that time, Hines was attacked by other Twitter users who accused Bethesda of playing favorites with the Xbox 360 not only because of the delay of the 1.7 update but also because of the delay of Dawnguard. The expansion is out now for the Xbox 360 and PC but the developer held it back from a PS3 release because of performance issues. At one point, Hines stated thatDawnguard would not have been released to the PS3 yet even without the one month timed Xbox 360 exclusivity because "performance isn't good enough" on the Playstation 3.

Now that the 1.7 update will finally be released to the Playstation 3, maybe we'll finally seeDawnguard hit the console soon.

Note that the 1.7 update for the PS3 version of Skyrim actually says 1.6 due to Bethesda combining both the 1.6 and 1.7 patches into one.

Wow, it sucks that people in Europe have had to wait an extra two weeks.
