Is it plentiful, or should I conserve it?

There is a fair bit of it, but it can run out quickly, due to zombies taking multiple headshots (on normal and survival at least). I say use your melee weapon wherever possible. If you do think your gonna get overwhelmed then use it.

i found that on Normal and Survivor mode there was so much of it, especially in the Church Ambush area while I barely had any during Chicken mode. End of the game I had probably 60 to 70 bullets although I generally went for melee kills as the higher difficulies take too many shots to kill them and they don't exactly walk in a way that makes a quick take down happen most of the time. When you get the baseball bat you can easily 1 shot all of the non helmet guys a majority of the time.
