Escalera glitch in Undead Nightmare

After saving Escalera, i started moving towards Nosalida (was going for Spinning Plates trophy). Of course, when i got there, zombies spawned headless, which meant that no matter how many zombies i'll kill, i won't save town (game doesn't count headless zombies as zombies). Therefore, i reloaded previous save, i spawned at Escalera, but now the town doesn't have cross on it and doesn't count for regions saved. Do i have to start the game from beginning? Or does the marker appear later (one source stated that it reappears after finishing story)?
