Popular Post LegendExeter
Introduction We have a really good guide on this site for the game and for this specific trophy, as well within that guide there is a link to the "in-depth" guide at PStrophies.org and that has some good information in it also. I read this sites guide and all 10 pages of forum comments in the in-depth guide, as of this writing I'm currently working through this trophy and am halfway there. I'm going to post some things I've tested and learned, as it does seem that there still are some stragglers from long ago or even recently that are still working on this game and this trophy. So we need wins, fatalities, x rays, blood, and time. Wins can be completely ignored as you are going to get them anyway one way or another, and you will never get fatalities done without mastering wins first so it’s a non-issue. As many have mentioned in multiple places the best way to do time is while you sleep. I actually put my console on before I go to sleep to get a full 12 hours in via Tag Team Practice and I turn it off in the morning before I go to work after viewing the Nekropolis of course. The goal for this trophy is 28 days of Overnight Time collected for 2 characters at once, and you completing the rest of the requirements for 1 character every day (blood, alities, xrays). When I started for this trophy I didn't want to use a piece of paper or an excel document to track things, because Nekropolis is already doing that for me aside from a loading screen, not laziness as much as I felt tracking it in either way would actually waste more time. So I needed to do some analysis and figure what were the best ways to get these done. The Blood Problem X-Rays are easy, fatalities are just boring(worst part IMO), yet blood spilled was the tricky one. The guy mentioned in his guide he isn't sure why there is a great discrepency between characters when he started on this trophy grind. So the reason why, and presuming you have done all the other trophies in the game prior to this, you would have already done your arcade ladders with everyone, and you would have completed the Challenge Tower. The latter is what is causing the difference in blood spilt for all players and for all of your kombatants. Whenever I did the Challenge Tower before turning off the game I would go to Nekropolis because I wanted it to record the things I was doing, since they technically counted. Right now having beat the game with all characters, Noob, Sindel, and Mileena had the lowest blood spilt at less then 1500 pints each. You remember that challenge match with Stryker and 3 Shao Kahns? I lost it twice before winning on my 3rd try, I have 5000 points of blood spilt. Raiden I have 8,000 pints of blood spilled and only beat his arcade ladder once...how??? Because there is a challenge in the tower mid 200's where it's Raiden vs. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi and I got my ass kicked like 15 times in a row...so ridiculous. I would get close so many times and still lose. So the game...through all those times I lost is still tracking all the blood I spilled. Basically if you did good on a characters challenges, you will have low blood spilled, if you did poorly on a few challenges or had to retry several times you will have higher blood spilled. The other reason why Noob, Sindel, Mileena, and Kano and Ermac and Shang Tsung...I could go on, all have lower blood spilled amounts is because they are "evil" characters that you didn't get to play as that much if at all during Story Mode, and in the Challenge Tower. Also by the time you got to their challenges within the challenge tower, you probably had become a good enough player that you didn't lose many of their challenges, meaning you never had time to accumulate that much blood with them. This was ultimately the problem as you could Finish your -alities and your X-rays, and still not have all your blood needed. That is not ideal time-wise because then you are wasting time to just get blood, when ideally you want your fatalities and blood to finish at the same time, otherwise at the end of each battle for blood you will just be tacking on more unnecessary fatalities. While the guides say do Xrays, Fatalities, and then Blood. I say do Xrays, then Blood until your fatalities will finish your blood count, then Fatalities. I actually had just been going through the game on Beginner mode multiple times to get blood/fatalities at the same time, yet I questioned if this was the fastest way. I then tested Sheeva in a best of 3 rounds tag match using the Hyper Kombat code to see how much blood she could spill against my 2nd controller. I ended with 460 Pints in 4 Minutes. Then I took her through an entire Tag Team Ladder on Beginner Mode using 1 round to win and 30 second max timer, so I could beat the hell out of multiple bodies, while giving any Xrays to her tag partner, and she got 1400 Pints in 16 minutes. Now we could be off by seconds here as I didn't use the stop watch on my phone, yet breaking this down she can spill around 115 Pints of Blood/Minute in a Vs. Tag Match against 88 Pints of Blood/Minute in a Tag Team Arcade Ladder. It's not huge and honestly can be done either way, yet it certainly adds up, every minute you would be losing 27 Pints of Blood in comparison. So while playing the Tag Ladder is honestly more enjoyable than doing matches for blood and fatalities by themselves because technically you can be working toward both at the same time, it still overall is slower. Recommended Order There is no wrong or right order to do these characters in, I did Kratos first because I didn't like the fact that I couldn't see him on the character select screen. Then I wanted to get rid of Cyber SubZero because his Xray has to be done in the air, then Johnny Cage because it required the second controller and attacking him during his taunt, and then Cyrax as I just didn't like how it felt like you had to be so close to the opponent to get his Xray to work. A suggestion to add Stryker as 5th here, simply because his Xray seems to take longer than others. Then from there it really doesn't matter, some people like to do them in rows, I was like, maybe I should do it by characters I hate first, and that's how Quan Chi and Shang Tsung got done, then I was like...does it even matter? I could do good guy/bad guy girls/guys, etc. The reality is, how I finish them going forward is I look for who has the lowest blood spilled and do them first, because they will take the longest. Aside from the first 5 I mentioned, it doesn't matter though. Xrays So this is my process for finishing a character starting with Xrays. Go into the Nekropolis picking the character you are going to do. I'm probably going to do Kano tonight, he has 1253 pints of blood, like 9 fatalities maybe, and 13 Xrays. For Xrays we are going to enter into a best of 3 rounds tag team match with no timer, however before we enter in the match you need to know how many Xrays you need to get to 150, and you need to have a designated tag character that you are going to use just to collect time and for extra xrays that in this example, Kano doesn't need. Reptile will be our tag partner. Quick math tells us we need 137 Xrays, and now we are going to enter the match and see how many we can get. The way it's described in the In-Depth guide is that per 3 rounds you can get so many xrays done, yet it's faster to do what you can, and then beat yourself up for 2 of those 5 rounds so you can get more Xrays per match. So Kano's Xray hit's for 41% damage, tied with Jax's for most damaging in the game. Horrible example here, yet will still work. In calculation this means per "match" or total of 5 rounds, Kano can hit 6 times, 6, 6, 5, and 5, the 5's are the two rounds where we are going to do our Xrays and then beat ourselves up. Quick adding that means in a single match Kano will get 28 Xrays, and now we do this in our head or calculator, 28, 56, 84, 112, 140; so in the 5th match we will have exceeded our Xrays. So what this means is, you are going to do 5 matches using the Unlimited Super Meter Code 4-6-6 4-6-6, yet during the very first match and round let Reptile come out and do his Xray 3 times(Calculation 140 from 5 matches - 137 needed for Kano = 3 for Reptile), then all the rest should go to Kano. I like to get the 2 rounds where controller 2 is going to win out of the way, yet remember, get your Xrays first so 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, STOP! Then after that you just do the last 3 rounds using Kano's Xray non stop until it's time to fatality. Then hit rematch, enter the Kombat Kode again and you now have 4 matches left to do with Kano and his Xrays are done exactly at 150. This wasn't the best example since Kano's has such high damage, yet that’s a rare occurrence, and when you start looking at typical percentages like 33% which I think is Reptiles, Reptile could do 7, 7, 7, 6, 6, for a total of 21 or 33 Xrays, dependent on if you did as I suggested or beat yourself up after getting all but 1 xray against the 2nd player for the first 2 rounds. 33 Xrays per match is pretty quick on the way to 150, you can either do 8 matches or 5 matches if you started from 0. This is also something you need to know and you would pick up on over time, yet I don't see it mentioned anywhere. When you are doing your Xrays against the Tag Opponents multiple factors can determine how you can get other Xrays. The other guide mentions things like Sub Zeros freeze or Kitana's Fan Raise, if you do these actions then quickly hit your Xray, it will actually do less damage than normal. Kitana for example will go from 31% damage to 26% damage, making her an 8, 8, 8, 7, 7 or possible to get 38 Xrays per match. You will have to test and see which of these abilities work, I think Kabal's spin does damage so I'm skeptical of that, and didn't try Cyrax's Net. A key thing to note here is that if you do this, you will never get higher than 4 Xrays per enemy per round, so 8, 8, 8, 7, 7 is the max. The reason is because even if Kitana's damage is lowered to 26%, 26 x 4 = 104% or full life bar. What is interesting is that if you have a character with a 33% Xray you cannot get 4 Xrays on the first opponent, the 4th one will aways bounce the enemy out because they didn't have enough life. However when it's the second opponent of the round, even if the enemy has 1 % life, it will let you land that 4th Xray in this example. Scorpion and Sindel are two exceptions I can think of because they hit below 33% damage, so they can get that 4th Xray on the first opponent and end up with 8, 8, 8, 7, 7 or 38 Xrays per match. The night upon coming home in question, I actually did Sektor before Kano, with Reptile as my tag partner. For Sektor he hits like Reptile with 33% so I could do 33 Xrays per match and needed 138 as I already had 12. So quick example again, 33, 66, 99, 132, 165, this one is a little different as we need more than 132, yet need less than 165, however will need 5 matches to do this in. So since I needed 132 for Sektor and would get that in 4 matches, I did 1 match had him come out and just do 6 Xrays right away(as these are the 6 more I needed to get to 138), and gave the entire other 4 rounds of the match to Reptile, giving him roughly 27. Then I did 4 more matches with Sektor and ended perfectly at 150. Basically you are doing the math in your head or with calculator if needed to determine how many Xrays you can get per 5 round match, how long it will take you in matches to achieve this, and whatever the difference is you give to your tag team partner. Sonya Note - Sonya's Xray can do between 33% and 26% damage, including a 31% possibility also. This is because her Xray starts immediately when you push the buttons and she starts her attacks. She will either be a 7,7,7,6,6 or you can make her an 8,8,8,7,7 as long as one of the Xrays you do on each opponent starts from farther away. If she misses all 4 or so of those first attacks of the Xray then the Xray won't complete, yet as long as she hits with 1 of those final kicks at the start it will run the full Xray. The further away you are, the less damage she will do with less kicks landed and you can get a full 4 xrays per opponent in the rounds you win with her. This does not work with Liu Kang's Xray, as it's impossible to miss one of the two overhead helicopter kicks, you either miss both, or hit with both. Blood Matches So as I explained above in the Blood Problem, this is very deceiving in a game where blood is practically everywhere it's amazing how this isn't filled for all characters very quickly. However there are some rules that the dev's had to have put in so that no one has an advantage in achieving this trophy, or basically to quickly give all moves a "number of pints of blood". It literally makes no sense, even fatalities where they are gushing blood out everywhere, it's the same pints of blood given as if it were a fatality that used Fire and really showed no blood loss at all. So here is the deal and this is where your math skills have to shine, when you are done with Xrays you need to go to the Nekropolis and see where your character is at for Fatalities and for Pints of Blood. Switching our example to Sektor, I'm sure I needed around 90 fatalities and had like 3900 pints of blood, meaning I needed 6100 more. Ok so what I like to do which frankly I think is becoming a waste of time, is I check at what the guy said in the other guide about what are the best ways to get blood spilt and then I go test it in one 3 round match with Hyper Fighting Kombat on 0-9-1 0-9-1. After I have seen the difference which is almost always a little under 500 pints I then do another calculation. Honestly if you want you can just use the number 480 or 475 pints, because every time I do this I seem to be about 1 match short, and I've never seen a match give me 500 or 600, and if it has, I don't know why it can't be duplicated because it doesn't happen and I still end up doing an extra match. Anyways so here is our calculation, I need 6100 pints of blood, each fatality is worth 20 points, in reality its actually about 22 pints because when you get to doing them you will always hit the enemy once before doing your fatality so it's about 22 pints, lets use 20 for easier math though. 20 x 90 = 1800 pints of blood for Sektor. Meaning if we did no matches for blood, and did all of his fatalities first we would have 3900 + 1800 or 5700 pints. This isn't what we want because we want to finish at 10,000 or above so it's the difference of that, 10,000 - 5700 that we need = 4300 from blood matches. If we get around 475 or 480 from each blood match it's about 9 matches we should need, since I'm regularly off by 1, I would do 10 matches or add 1 to whatever your calculation ends at. So in this case you will use the same 3 rounds to win tag team match, no timer needed as you did for Xrays, select a stage fatality map, and you are just using a different code for the tag team battles, also this time you don't have to use the 2nd controller to beat you up to extend the match, we're gaining nothing in time really by doing that. You will do this 10 times, and then you can go to the Nekropolis next to check your fatality count. You will want to use the Hyper Fighting Kombat as it will make the matches go very fast, and frankly once you test it it's hard to go back to normal. You will notice a few things about Hyper Combat, inputting combos is harder because everything is faster so it expects your inputs to be faster. In order to do this rather than hold the controller like I usually do or we all do, I use my right hand from an above approach as if the controller is on an arcade machine where I'm tapping the buttons instead of pressing them. This seemed to help do combos. As far as moves to do, I prefer to just look up a combo that flows well and doesn't push me or the enemy too far away from each other. You want attacks that mostly hit the face, and you want to get your enemy in the corner. Never use fireballs or sweeps, only kicks that will draw blood, projectiles that are sharp are ok, otherwise punch combos. Another option is Toward + Triangle, for some reason I've noticed that this move is always like a forward punch or a stab move. Like with Nightwolf he takes his knife and stabs the enemy, same with Mileena and her Sai, it might not be the best option for everyone; yet wanted to let you know. This is a bonus, ok so almost all characters should have some special move that does blood loss and raises your super meter. For Sektor it's his Teleport Punch, Mileena her Kick from Above, Sindel her Cartwheel move, etc. So to start the match I will do that move over and over until I get the Xray to light up, and assuming the 1st enemy is dead and the Xray won't be wasted on a too weak opponent as soon as the tag enemy comes out I will switch to Reptile(or the tag partner) and do his(/her) Xray, and then switch right back to Sektor to keep getting blood loss. You will only do this once per match, as after you get that Xray off it's nearly impossible to raise your Super Meter again since you aren't being hit. So after you have got the Xray for your tag partner, and you bring back in your original, you will go back to Combo Attacks or whatever attacks you feel will draw the most blood. At the end of the 10 blood matches I will have got an extra 10 Xrays for Reptile or whoever your tag partner is. On some people like Shang Tsung, he just sucks man, there is no good way to do it with him, or blood loss for that matter. If you switch to other characters with his transform move, any blood loss done during that will not count toward Shang's total which is ridiculous. So when I did Shang, I just went after blood loss and used the tag partner to collect time only, I did no Xrays because in 3 rounds straight of just combo attacking the opponent my Super Meter never reached max or Xray status. Last thing to note, for some reason uppercuts while right next to an enemy in Hyper Combat sometimes don't like to work. I can't explain it, not for sure if it's a glitch or programming error, maybe a hit frame error, no idea. I noticed it didn't work for like 10 characters, then it worked for the next 3 in a row, then after that it went off and on as to who can and cannot do them. At the end of each match you will do a fatality with your person doing the blood loss, which is probably why I was always a match short. It's like the law of diminishing returns here, where each match I'm getting a fatality done however when the blood matches are done and I go to check my blood loss I will get for finishing fatalities it will have been reduced by what I did during these blood matches. Bonus - Mileena move not on Move list, if you hit Back Triangle with her she will jump and slam her sai down on someone, then hit Back Toward Triangle and instead of her Jumping to bite the enemy, she will jump on them, grab the sai that she just stuck in them out and stab them with it 5 times. Probably won't help too much with blood, yet it's pretty cool to see. Ermac Note - I struggled doing 20 blood matches with this guy until I figured out the best way to draw blood. Don't let this happen to you, do Back Square, Triangle. This will make him do this helicopter like overhead type of punch attack and finish with a strong punch to the face, this will draw a lot of blood. Over and over and over, do it. Stryker Note - you probably won't need many blood matches, however use the opposite buttons as Ermac, use Back Triangle, then Square. He will take his batton and spin hit the enemy several times in the face and the square move whacks them again with the batton knocking them down. Best blood combo I found with him. The best reference with blood ultimately is this, if you don't see it on the ground in puddles, then you aren't doing enough. Fatalities Which is a perfect segue to our last step. In most cases you should be close to about 8,400 pints of blood and will need around 80 fatalities left to do, 80 x 20 = 1600 and that should get you to 10,000 pints. It's at this point you are going to check Nekropolis first though for your character as it can be different based on what was discussed earlier. Maybe you had higher blood loss, needed less matches, and/or have already done a bunch of fatalities online or against the AI in Arcade Ladder, who knows. In doing fatalities using the stage fatalities are the best because they are the fastest indifference to the somewhat longer animations of standard fatalities. So you are going to first go to Gameplay and change the rounds to win to 1, and save your settings. Then you are going to go into a 1 on 1 versus match against the 2nd controller, choose a stage fatality arena, hit square X for the enemy opponent for it to be random, and pick your fatality person in my example Sektor. People have said that they think the Subway is the fastest, I'm sure the Dead Pool is the slowest, yet I prefer the Pit. Here you will enter in Kombat Kode Sans Power 0-4-4 4-4-0 which makes it so you only need to hit the enemy once. I always jump at them and hit Triangle for like a Jump Punch, upon landing start entering in the motions. Try not to be too fast, if you get the button presses done before it finishes saying Finish Him/Her then it can mess up and instead just punch/kick your enemy. I just wait a split second to hear him say Finish and I start doing the button motions. If the person you are using has a difficult stage fatality that you just can't get a grip on, then switch to a regular fatality. Out of 22/28 characters done, this has happened to me only once, strangely on Scorpion, I kept messing up his stage fatality so just switched to his easier Toward, Down, Toward, Triangle from Touch Distance. The last thing I should tell you is that I timed doing fatalities with Sheeva on the Pit to see how fast i could do them, and I got about 0.55 per minute, however this did not translate well to other characters, so I'm thinking Sheeva's fatality is just easier than others. To figure out how long you need to do fatalities for and not worry about having to track them on excel or paper, take the number of fatalities you need to do; 100 - current, I had 100 - 19 last night, or needing 81 and then take that number times 0.60. Equalling 48.6 or 49 minutes rounded up. This should give you plenty of time for minor distractions, a head itch, a moment of not paying attention, whatever. If you get up and go to the bathroom you are going to have to add those minutes to the time you should have stopped though otherwise you are going to be short. If you mess up once or twice you should still be fine, anything more and you should consider doing a different fatality of that character. In closing, no the 0.60 isn't perfect, yes I've ended at 107 fatalities, or 103, and even 97 twice...yet who cares, it's damn spot on, and being over a couple...whatever, being short 3 no big deal. It's usually spot on though. The key factor here being that you can just time it from your cell phone, add the minutes to current time and be like ok I stop at 6:40 PM, or use a clock on the wall nearby. I find it less stressful than counting 81, 80, 79....this is taking forever. Results for Sektor are shown here: (Notice the devotion time, not including load screens sure, yet pretty fast) Another example for Sindel is shown here: Also should you ever be really, really close like I was on Jax at 9992 pints of blood, enter a match and do a fatality, I entered one more 1 hit match, and just hit them twice, and it gave me this requiring 1 more match after that, so ridiculous. israellaks
I decided to follow a different strategy, just for convenience (or to not get crazy). The biggest problem is that I lost my save file years ago after I had almost everything completed but the Mastery-related trophies (and just a few others). The whole tower lost, thousands of matches, fatalities, blood, all lost! Well, that's life. So the 1st thing I manage to do was the 24h with all players. I basically left my ps3 running while working from time to time, sometimes during the night. I have now all chars with at least 23:30 completed, some of them 24:00. Now I am in the second step: fatalities/x-rays. I have a turbo controller that helps a lot with the x-rays, so I can say it's just a matter of time (start the matches, L2 + R2 on turbo, return after n minutes, repeat). For that reason, I am not worried about the x-rays and I am focusing on the fatalities. Fatalities are terrible because it's a huge waste of time if you are just farming all fatalities. And I lost all my progress, 0 fatalities for all chars. OUCH! It's been a pain in the ass, I need to say. I manage to complete the 100 fatalities in about 1 hour, maybe 1:20 as it's hard to focus on such repetitive tasks that long. That's my focus right now. When I complete the fatalities, I will use the turbo controller to do the x-rays and the last step will be the blood count. I have no strategy set for it yet, I will think about it when I complete the missing fatalities and x-rays only. Oh, by the way, now my saves are uploaded to the cloud. I will never lose a save file again!
