MGS1 Zako Survival tips

I'm struggling to get to Genola with enough health and a ration to survive. I tend to lose my ration on wave 3. Even using the coolant trick I find myself taking far too much damage from the guards on the upper levels. Any suggestions?

Check video below. For the first few attempts mistakes are normal, but eventually you will get the correct timings. I don't think there is better method than standing on the edge and use coolant when they drop on you.

This might be promising, previously I was using the coolant strategy in the bottom left corner but I was taking too much damage from the guards behind me trying it that way.
