Do I need 5 different GYAOS for GYAO! Master?

Do I need 5 different GYAO Fishes for GYAO! Master or can I grow the dolphin 5 times?

No, any 5 will do - even just doing the same one 5 times will count (which is a godsend, because trying to get the other species is a complete nightmare) .

You can duplicate GYAO. I only had 4 unique GYAO because I got a duplicate and still got the trophy

Same. I had two Belugas, one of which I managed to evolve into a Whale Shark. The trophy unlocked at that point. 

 

The wiki is very helpful in explaining how to get different GYAOs by balancing different combinations of Hunger, Affection, and Discipline. It takes about one week per most GYAO species (5 Years = 5 days). However, the Whale Shark does not evolve until Year 9 (day 9).

No, you don’t need 5 different ones. What’s more is if you get a double evolution (I.e beluga into whale shark), it counts as 2.

trophy popped for me after I had:

1. Turtle

2. Beluga - whale shark

3. Yellowfin puffer

4. Yellowfin puffer (again)

I had 4 Dolphins and a Beluga when I got it.
