daPIANIST
I was just wondering if anyone has played the first episode and could tell me how much it plays off the comic books. I've noticed most descriptions of the game mention it taking place between issues 126-139. Personally ive only read the first and second compendiums, which is roughly issues 1-100. I do plan on checking out the 3rd compendium which will cover the issues this game takes place during. So I guess ultimately I'm wondering if it would be hugely beneficial to wait until I've read further into the comics. I'm a fan of the games first and foremost so I'm really itching to check this out but if it's going to be better with more context I would be willing to wait it out. Thanks in advance! Breakingthegreen
Not really, so far only three characters from the comics are featured in the game. In my playthrough, I didn't notice any other references. It is basically its own self-contained story to fill a gap in the comics
damon8r351
No, you can follow in the story without reading the comics. The only questions the comics will answer is why Michonne has visions of two little girls, although that can be answered with Google or by taking into account that it's a zombie outbreak so you can probably take a wild guess. Rikku_Shinra
From what i head you don't need to read the comics in order to enjoy this mini series, however it is recommend so you can get the full experience.
IrishNexus
I'm up to date with the comics, and having read them makes this game just that bit better knowing when it takes place and such, but it's definitely not necessary to have read them prior to playing this. Telltale does a very good job with that in that you never need to really know the source material to enjoy their games.
