Yakuza 1 & 2 HD place 3rd in Japanese charts

It appears that the PS3 debut of Yakuzas 1 and 2 didn’t fare too badly. Not the first time that either game has been given the re-release treatment, this latest edition bundles them together and sports a resolution update along with new difficulty options; it was evidently enough to achieve third place and sales of 58,138. It goes without saying that no Western release is currently planned.

First place belonged to Namco Bandai’s latest Tales game, Tales of Xillia 2, with 364,439 sold. Second place meanwhile was occupied by another HD-enhanced port; this one none other than Clover Studios’ incredible action/adventure game, Okami, which sold 68,644 copies.

From what I've seen both Okami and the Yakuza HD editions turned out very well. I'll be getting Okami first, but the Yakuza collection is definitely on my list. Xillia 2 has been getting some negative reviews, but I might give it a chance later since I really loved the first one.

I hope they consider making one for us. I haven't touched Yakuza 3 and 4 because I haven't played the first 2. Was thinking about eventually getting them at one point, but getting them for the PS3 in HD with trophy support is a definite plus.

You know that 3 and 4 have recaps of 1 and 2, right? Or do you just want to avoid that because you want to play 1 and 2? I recommend playing 2 over 1, but 1 is pretty good too, and definitely more common than 2.

I actually have 1 and 2 on PS2, but I'd be more than willing to buy this collection, not only to support Sega, but trophies and reduced loading times (the loading times in Yakuza 1 got on my nerves sometimes. Seriously pauses for like 1-2 seconds whenever you change screens like the old RE games. I could stand those, because they're PS1 games, but that shouldn't be in PS2 games)

I hope they announce a UK (and US) release date soon. Didn't buy these for the PS2 so it would be great to get this and complete the set of all 5 Yakuza games (so far).
