From Software and Shadows Die Twice.

My guess would be that a Bloodborne 2 would be named "Bloodborne 2" and wpuld be a Sony exclusive, which Shadows Die Twice does not seem to be.

Personally I tried Dark Souls 1 and 2 and Bloodborne, I liked Bloodborne the most but didn't finish it because of a save file corrupting bug. Hope to get back into it now that I'm getting the digital game through PS+.

As for Shadows Die Twice, if it's more Bloodborne than Dark Souls then colour me interested. At this point I'm more likely to try a new game than to give an older DS game another shot.

I believe it could possibly be Bloodborne 2 because using Shadows Die Twice has already created a great deal of speculation, what I believe to be more so than simply announcing Bloodborne 2. I agree that I would prefer something different from Dark Souls because although I did enjoy 2 and 3, neither came close to pulling me in like the original did.

Honestly, I saw Tenchu coming from miles away. In fact, that was my guess would be the next game when (if not before) Dark Souls 3 was released. Why? The creator said he wasn't going to do another Souls game, and he wanted to do something else. Can't remember all the details, but I've said it for a long time that I thought Tenchu was what they were going to do.

What you don't seem to get is what Tenchu is like. Go look up playthroughs of the games online, and tell me again how that isn't going to be a lot like the Souls games, just a different setting.

I know what Tenchu is like, I've played it back on the PS1. To be specific I don't like Tenchu's atmosphere. It feels so lifeless and dull. I'm sure From could make something with more substance all these years later, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I wanna see my hero. With all respect to Souls series, I always made my character look like him there, and of course played with Katana, even Chaos Blade from Bloodborne been a little something reminded about him:

Even if it is not Tenchu, I hope I'll take my time to revisit Dark Souls 2 and play with Manslayer.

RUMOR: ResetEra member’s leak details about Shadows Die Twice.

March 13, 2018

Take this with a grain of salt. According to two insiders on the worlds most popular gaming forum, ResetEra, Shadows Die Twice is not the speculated Bloodborne 2.In fact, it’s something completely different. Shadows Die Twice may be a spiritual sequel to Kuon, a survival-horror game from the PlayStation 2.

Dusk Golem, ResetEra member, leaks…:

All I will say is from all the evidence and from an angle that I can’t fully speculate anymore is that it’s not called Kuon 2, but yeah, it’s Kuon 2 basically.

I know a lot of people want it to be Bloodborne, but there’s a lot of readily available information out there to show it’s not, from the words of Miyazaki himself to a confirmed insider here on ResetEra directly saying it isn’t. I know people want to believe, but when you’re plugging your ears and not listening to the creator of the series and a confirmed insider, you’re just dreaming then.

I know Kuon will seem like a stretch to some people, and that’s fine. But I will say it’s… I’ll choose the words ‘very probably,’ though I want to say more, that it’s a new entry to Kuon how Demon Soul’s was a new entry to King’s Field essentially.

Dusk Golem reiterates.

Now, here is the most interesting tidbit about all of this. In the same thread, months ago, Dusk Golem made a comment speculating that it would be Kuon related.

I legitimately think this is Kuon related.

01.) All of the sounds in the trailer are sounds used in Kuon. The flutes and drums are brief but both are in Kuon, and the final scraping sound sounds like a remastered version of one of the common ‘scare’ jingles in Kuon:

02.) In the background the language is ancient Chinese. Japan around the 10th-11th century went from China rule to become their own country before it was known as Japan, they used to use ancient Chinese but around this era began to create Japanese. Kuon is LITERALLY set in this time period, when Japanese culture is starting to rise as it’s own thing, but China still is deeply rooted in their culture and language.

03.) On-top of this, the scroll in the background looks quite similar to the scrolls you read documents on in Kuon.

04.) There is a rope on the device, which could very easily be Silk Rope (especially as that’s what most rope was made of in ancient Japan):

nophoto.gif.jpeg?resize=300%2C225

Kuon takes place in a shrine where they specialize in silk creation, that’s literally a HUGE plot point to Kuon about their Silk creation process the Shrine uses, so there being what seems to be silk rope ties heavily into the setting of Kuon, as well as the next bit:

05.) In Kuon, there is a world of meat, lakes of blood, and demons beneath a shrine in ancient Japan. The Shrine needs to torture and sacrifice people to appease the demons so this Underworld will not grow out from beyond beneath the shrine. In the trailer the thing that’s working seems like a torture device, it has blood being drawn over it’s ropes and are pulling up, ALL of which ties in neatly into Kuon’s themes.

06.) “Shadows Die Twice” fits perfectly with Kuon. In Kuon there is two Campaigns, “Chapter of Shadow”, and “Chapter of Light”, aka Yin and Yang. The game has a strong theme of duality, and without spoiling anything “Shadows Die Twice” fits completely with what happens at the end of Chapter of Shadow campaign in Kuon.

07.) This one is obvious and face value but needs to be said I think:The game has two obvious traits shown in its teaser: ancient Japanese culture and a tinge of horror. The IP that literally fits this description from their repertoire is Kuon.

Hell, the fucking rope thing is literally from the main key art of Kuon:

There’s also lots of small things, like the Souls Team has to know about Kuon as for example the spell system in Bloodborne is literally the spell system From used in Kuon. They also talked about a ‘weird’ game and a reimagining in their talks of what was supposed to come this year. People often forget that Demon’s Soul was a re-imagining of King’s Field, I highly suspect what this project is would be a re-imagining of Kuon. I even doubt it’d use Kuon’s name, or be Kuon 2 or something, but I’ll bet this ends up being a spiritual successor to Kuon.

The teaser’s brief and vague so it’s hard to be certain of anything, but I think literally there’s more evidence this is Kuon related than anything else that’s been suggested.

The quote above was made public months ago. He is confirmed to know some things about the development of this game. On top of that, Omnipotent (formerly known as OmnipotentComponent) on ResetEra has provided “proof”.  Then, it was verified by the Administrators that whatever this game is, it’s definitely not Bloodborne 2. However, this was a little while ago.

Ill reiterate that its 200% not bloodborne 2. I cant say any more than that.
OmnipotentComponent has provided evidence to the Admins that they are in fact in a position to know what they claim to know. That does not mean we can verify that they are telling the truth or that their information is accurate. As always, the member takes full responsibility for what they post.

Here is the Administrator of ResetEra, who confirmed with validation that Shadows Die Twice is not Bloodborne 2.

So here is what we can take from these leaks…:

  • Shadows Die Twice is a spiritual sequel to Kuon.
  • This game will be open world with horror elements.
  • It will take place in Ancient Japan.
  • Despite Bloodborne 2 speculated to be this game, we have two insiders saying it’s not.

This game is going to be absolutely crazy…whatever it is! Even if this information is invalid, all I can feel is excitement going through my veins. With E3 being just around the corner, perhaps we will know more details soon! Gameplay would be exciting.
