Brillica
I was trying to find out how to earn the nicknames and found a trophy guide for the game which explains it all (though doesn't offer any tips) https://daynglsgameguides.com/2020/05/06/john-wick-hex-trophy-guide/ Basically you earn Baba Yaga by meeting the par score in four categories (time, bandages, accuracy, number of weapon types), and the other four nicknames are each associated with one of the categories. adventcavalier
I'm curious about this game, but it seems to have a low completion rate. For those who played it, what's the major obstacle, difficulty or lack of interest? Any estimates on time to platinum?

I would like to know this as well since I enjoyed Bithell's previous title, Volume. Further, as a big fan of Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO, and Deus Ex GO, John Wick Hex seems like something that's right up my alley.
SilentSolivagant
Definitely will enjoy it if you’re a fan of Bithell and the Go games. However, trophies are tough and definitely require multiple playthroughs and experience with each level.

For those who played it, what's the major obstacle, difficulty or lack of interest? Any estimates on time to platinum? What makes this game difficult in my opinion isn't raw difficulty by a long shot, it's the RNG element of levels. More specifically with the enemy spawns and how they influence level completion times. Levels randomly spawn enemies as you move through them. Sometimes you'll be at the exit and an enemy spawns across the map from a random door, and now you can't exit until you kill them. For regular gameplay this element is whatever and spices things up. For the Baba Yaga related trophies (and more specifically, the time related accolade) enemy spawns become a huge roadblock because if you don't get the "minimum" number of enemy spawns in a given level, it'll naturally take more game time to finish the level, and your overall time may fall short of the "PAR" time. Because of that randomness, you can have a "flawless" run, and not have the Baba Yaga accolade because of time, but it's all based on how many enemies spawn AND their pathing since executing enemies & moving both chip away at your final time but are required to reach the exit. 1 enemy usually takes 2 shots to dispatch (1.5 game seconds), that is, if your shots land because gun fire is also slightly random, a % chance value based on your relative position to the enemy. This game definitely made me rethink my understanding of what 100% chances are -- still chances that can miss. I gave up because it felt a little unfair at times. I personally have a bias against randomness in games because depending on luck doesn't pan out well for me and time spent fighting against randomness always feels like a waste. I hated whenever the game would sometimes spawn like 3-5 enemies in a single "step." Or getting destroyed in a section for 45 minutes & only getting through because 6-10 enemies within the level didn't end up spawning in a run. That type of difficulty feels lazy in execution and doesn't feel accomplishing to me. TL;DR Randomness can make achieving certain feats arbitrarily "challenging" Edited January 10, 2022 by Long-Ryde Better explanation & grammar
