Free roam after story complete

Is there free roam after the story to complete the collectibles or should I aim to get them all before the end of the game?

There is free roam after the story. It loads a checkpoint prior to the last fight

I started this and am hesitant to keep going until there are guides. I see that collectibles don't seem to be tracked anywhere.

Super late, but the only collectibles to really worry about are the lore entries. They're plentiful, but they're in concentrated clusters around ruins and whatnot. The lightstones and flap crystals can be tracked via the triangle button in-game-- if the cloud is red, you don't have it yet.

Thanks for responding. I've got the platinum already but hope it helps anyone who was wondering or feels hesitant.
