Shiny Pokemon

I haven't found a definitive answer on this, so I'll just ask here.  Earlier on Pokemon Y I caught a shiny Sandslash.  Now I'm trying to breed it with Absol and get a shiny absol.  I've hatched 2 eggs so far, each have been regular Absols.  Sandslash is a male, whereas Absol is female.  I gave Sandslash an everstone to pass down its nature (Adamant) .  This works, but the shiny part doesn't.  I thought the offspring would always be shiny if the parent was shiny.  Any help?

It doesn't work like that, shinies are a 1 in 8000-something chance of appearing/hatching. You can't simply breed 2 together and produce another. I think you may have gotten confused with EV training, something completely unrelate to shiny pokemon

If it were that easy to breed shiny Pokemon, they wouldn't be nearly as rare. There's a long process behind it, you were very lucky to find one at random.

I caught a Shiny Swadloon, then traded it for a mewtwo which i then traded for Yvetal

I've only caught 2 shiny Pokemon in my lifetime - Floatzel and Goldbat.

Been playing Pokemon since 1999, played every game in the series and I've only seen 3. Pidgy, Sandshrew and Wooper.

In XY the encounter rate dropped to around 1/4000 and with the Masuda Method (breeding two Pokemon from different parts of the world) it goes even lower! They made it really easy to get shinies this gen.

Only shiny that I have gotten was a shiny Chingling in Platinum and haven't seen one since, but wow! They really made it a lot easier to have a shiny show up in 6th gen. If I recall, I think there is a method to raise the shiny percentage in 4th gen.
