NMErickson
‘It Takes Two’ Developer Hazelight Studios Teams With dj2 Entertainment to Adapt Game for Film, TV “dj2 is honored to partner with Josef, Oskar [Wolontis], and the incredible team at Hazelight Studios on the linear media adaptation of ‘It Takes Two,'” said dj2 CEO and founder Dmitri M. Johnson. “Just like the rest of the gaming world, we fell head-over-heels in love with Cody, May, Rose, Dr. Hakim and the imaginative fantasy universe Hazelight have created, and can’t wait to bring these characters -and this world- to life on the big and small screen.” At the time of this publishing, no studio or network is attached to the project, but sources say it is currently the subject of a multi-party bidding war. Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the writers behind “Sonic the Hedgehog” and its upcoming sequel, are attached to adapt “It Takes Two” for the screen. From Variety This is great news. We loved the game at our house and more of the story and characters is welcome. Seems dj2 specializes in game to film adaptions with their biggest being the Sonic the Hedgehog film. They do have a lot of other projects according to IMDb and their official site. 4/20 update: Picked up by Amazon Studios and Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks Productions is coming on to produce alongside dj2. Rumor has it Dwayne Johnson could also star. Edited April 21, 2022 by NMErickson
DaivRules
Hopefully not being able to trademark It Takes Two because Take Two Interactive sued them for it doesn't hinder their attempt to expand beyond the game and they don't have to come up with a convoluted naming convention to avert Take Two's lawyers. Redgrave
Normally I would have doubts it would work but if the creator is involved and the people behind the Sonic movie are up for it then I think it's something that would be in good hands.
