Popular Post timpurnat
I've got a few messages about this game lately, so I decided to write some tips and things I found after 60h of playtime. As the PC servers are shutting down in about 2 months, now is a perfect time to start this game. The game also isn't very well known and there is not much info on the internet, so I want to pile up some info for others Roadmap Difficulty: 2/10 Time to platinum: 250-300h You can do the following steps in any order you prefer. That's how I'm doing them: Bootcamp (30 mins) Wins and misc trophies (8-10h) Grinding for boxes by playing AFK matches (250h+) General Q&A Does the game require VR to play? What about the PC version? Yes, ps4 version requires VR to play, moves are optional but make the game easier to play. The PC version doesn't require the VR and can be with m&k or a controller. How many people do you need to boost and is the game cross-play with PC? You need 4 players for TDM and KOTH game mode wins, and 3 players for FFA game mode win, everything else can be done with just 2 people. The game is cross-play with PC and it's recommended that you do step 3 of the roadmap with PC, otherwise you will need 2 VRs or a boosting partner. It's much easier to self-boost the grind with a PC because you can host and start matches there (without a VR headset) without even touching your main. Does the game require a Ubisoft account? Yes, you need a different Ubisoft account for all accounts that you will use to boost the game. My friend tried using the same account on PC and it messed up the game and he had to BUY THE GAME AGAIN on another account to fix the issue. You also need to have access to these accounts if you want to boost with PC as you need to friend the account linked to your psn. I installed the Ubisoft Connect app on my phone and logged in using my psn, because I forgot my Ubisoft login I can't connect to Ubisoft connect on PC, what can I do? It will sound crazy, but you can get IP blocked from Ubisoft on PC. I don't know the cause, I got randomly blocked after 110h clocked in. To fix this you will need to use a VPN to change your IP. Very annoying why Ubisoft? Whyyy ? Why does the game take so long to platinum? It's because of 2 very very RNG trophies (Black is the New Black and Unlock 'em all). Basically, you need to get some very specific items from in-game loot boxes, which can only be earned by leveling up. You get 1 box per every odd level and 2 per every even level (on each "first" level you will get 4, so 11, 21...). There are duplicates so it will take very long until you collect the required items. You will get some coins from duplicates which you can use to buy the needed items, but you don't get a lot of coins from them sadly. What is the best way to grind loot boxes? The best way is winning matches, you don't get a lot of XP for actively playing (about 400XP), so it's recommended to simply start and AFK matches (Preferably with PC to make it easier). To AFK matches, first make a private lobby with your PC and invite your main. Once the main joins you can put down the VR and you don't have to touch the main at all the whole time (Just be sure to put something in front of the lenses so the game thinks you are wearing it). Now start a match with PC (Select a map that lets you fly into void/map barrier, I personally used Orbital mine, Canyon Chase and Absolute zero are good too. The game mode also needs to be duel, team instablast or chivalry else the match will end in a tie and you will get less XP. Keep in mind that if you are playing duel, team instablast or chivalry, you NEED to suicide with your alt else the match won't end!), once you are in a match commit suicide with PC by flying past the map barrier, then activate a macro or sticky key so you don't get kicked. Wait that match ends, you can do whatever you want in the meantime after the match ends, start a new match and repeat all other steps. Each match will give you 2000XP for participation + 500XP win bonus (if you won). After lvl25, every level will require 10k XP, so 4 matches/25mins~ per level. Is there a way to 100% AFK the matches or do you need to manually start them? I wasn't successful with my attempt at writing a PC macro to AFK this so I don't think there is a way to effectively AFK this (Some people were successful apparently tho). So you will probably have to manually start the game each time sadly. But you don't have to do anything during a match, so you can just keep starting matches and do something else in between them. It's not that bad beacuse you don't have to wear the VR at all if you boost with PC. Oh no! There is an idle kick on the PC, are there any ways around that? Yes, you can use sticky keys (I activated the shift sticky key every time I started a match) or record a simple macro with tinytask. Also you can get idle kicked on ps4 too, if you are not wearing the VR, to get around this, simply put a piece of cloth or anything else in front of the lenses. Any Glitches? Nothing Major. When grinding matches I encountered a glitch where after the match ends the game says you got 0 XP, it's a visual glitch (sigh of relief haha) luckily. After you restart the game, your level will be updated as well as your earned boxes. I recommend restarting the game before opening the boxes. Another glitch might occur when you will be in "ready room", the match sometimes won't start after selecting the map, you need to restart the game Trophy Tips 300k in Boot Camp This one is actually easier than it seems at first. Start boosting (Double-tap square on move) right at the start and don't stop until the end. Targets will always appear after you pass the yellow circle, so you can start shooting before they appear so you hit some while they are spawning. Never let go of the weapon, it will reload itself when you run out of bullets and try to shoot again. Try to hit all targets on as many sections as that gives you extra points. Win Trophies These will come naturally for sure. Make sure to go on the same team when you boost 4 player modes to save time, you and your boosting buddy can win at the same time. You can switch maps in the "ready room". Space Traveler You can do this one while you are doing AFK matches, when you put your VR down simply start to turbo X and you will get it in about 20h. Black is the New Black and Unlock 'em all trophies Pray, buy yourself some lucky charms and brace yourself for an RNG NIGHTMARE! The AFK method is described above. There is not much you can do besides keep going ? For Black is the New Black you will need to get 7 black (Weapon name - Tenebrae | Rarity - purple) weapons out of the in-game loot boxes (Bow doesn't count!). You can also buy them for 2000 coins each. And for Unlock 'em all you need to get 15 character skins. It can be any skin of any rarity. Prices for them range from 2000-4000 coins. Watch out, one character was added later on, it has only 2 skins and those don't count! Kill Trophies The best map to self boost the kills is Absolute zero, fly into the middle with your main and stay there for the whole match. Fly to your main with PC and then kill the PC. Rocket launcher can't be found on some maps, but other weapons should be on all maps. If you get 10 kills, the match will end and you will get less XP, so I recommend that you get 9 kills and wait for the match to end. You can find gadgets in the armory on your watch (Have to press triangle a few times), but you can only equip 2 at the time. This is the location on the map I used: Spoiler Mind Games Trophy This is the only tricky kill trophy, I wasted some time because the kills don't count if the enemy shoots the dummies and commits suicide. They need to explode themselves (You need to back away with the main so they can explode) My Progress Log Spoiler 8/7/22 lvl109 - 57h - 1/7 black weapons - 6/15 char skins - 400 coins 9/7/22 lvl137 - 71h - 1/7 black weapons - 6/15 char skins - 1200 coins 10/7/22 lvl153 - 80h - 2/7 black weapons - 7/15 char skins - 1600 coins 11/7/22 lvl171 - 90h - 3/7 black weapons - 7/15 char skins - 2100 coins 12/7/22 lvl186 - 98h - 3/7 black weapons - 7/15 char skins - 2600 coins 13/7/22 lvl197 - 105h - 3/7 black weapons - 7/15 char skins - 3100 coins 14/7/22 lvl206 - 110h - 3/7 black weapons - 7/15 char skins - 3700 coins 15/7/22 - N/A Had to finish stupid heavy metal machines 16/7/22 lvl239 - 126h - 3/7 black weapons - 7/15 char skins - 5700 coins 17/7/22 lvl266 - 140h - 3/7 black weapons - 9/15 char skins - 7000 coins 18/7/22 lvl300 - 156h - 3/7 black weapons - 9/15 char skins - 8600 coins 19/7/22 lvl324 - 169h - 4/7 black weapons - 9/15 char skins - 10100 coins 20/7/22 lvl342 - 175h - 5/7 black weapons - 13/15 char skins - 1200/12k coins - bought some skins 21-23/7/22 - Verdun time 24/7/22 lvl378 - 195h - 5/7 black weapons - 13/15 char skins - 4200/12k coins 25/7/22 lvl401 - 207h - 5/7 black weapons - 13/15 char skins - 5960/12k coins 26/7/22 lvl423 - 217h - 6/7 black weapons - 13/15 char skins - 7150/10k coins 27/7/22 lvl434 - 223h - 6/7 black weapons - 13/15 char skins - 7600/10k coins 28/7/22 lvl444 - 228h - 7/7 black weapons - 15/15 char skins - 1600 coins - Done finally! Finals Stats Spoiler Now that you finished reading the post (or skipped to the end haha) you are probably wondering, is the game worth playing? Short answer no, long answer no Edited July 30, 2022 by timpurnat
MikeCheck--
Wow, seriously, nice mini-guide! Very detailed and thorough. This is a game that has always intrigued me, but 250 - 300 hours just due to RNG is a massive no. Seems like most developers have learned from the games of years back and at least let you buy loot boxes for a high-in-game currency that guarantees no duplicate. If this game had that, I'd probably be in. I know you can scrap items but even then, you'd be buying a loot box with a likely duplicate. This game looks amazing and very well polished. I think I'll try it out on my alternate account for fun. Shame about the RNG, props to those with the Platinum!

Yeah, I agree the game looks and plays great, if it wasn't for the RNG stuff the trophy list would be perfect. I only started the game because I can be almost afk and I will be able to be close to my setup a lot during summer. Those boxes are such a scam haha, even when I get something rare from the box it's not what I need I really wish you could buy them. What bothers me the most is that performance doesn't give you much XP at all so it's basically pointless playing actively.
Toryanse
Based on information from @timpurnat, I have leveled with a group of 5 peoples. There is no AFK penalty, so basically no need to handle except for one person to start the match. We didn't own the Steam version except for one person, but this wasn't an inconvenience as we didn't have to wear our PSVR helmets to start the match. The familiar map for AFK is Orbital Mine. If the loser keeps the R3-stick fixed either up or down, the match is less likely to be a draw. The basic progress of leveling is is 1 lvl for 4 matches for winners and 1 lvl for 5 matches for losers. If all goes well, we did 10 matches per hour. In adopting the team competition, teams must be determined only once before the first match. If the number of participants is even, the number of players who receive the victory bonus will be increased by making it a team competition. The advantage of multiple people working on leveling is that the pure workload per person can be shared. The disadvantage is that everyone has to reboot every time there is a bug, which is described below. There may also be a mental tightness to the RNG. Bug 1: The game doesn't start The lobby is divided into two rooms. When you proceed to the forward room, the rule selection occurs after a countdown. However, occasionally the rule selection doesn't start and the game gets stuck. The frequency is once every 0 to 30 games. The number of players is irrelevant for this bug to occur. If one person is removed, the rule selection and the game will start again, but once it happens, the same bug will occur in the next game with a high probability. Therefore, it is basically necessary for everyone to restart the application. Bug 2: No EXP displayed If you stay in the same lobby for a long time, the EXP for a match may be displayed as "0 Exp". If this is happening to someone other than yourself, the lvl won't be displayed under the character. This is a condition where the server and local character information is out of sync, but the correct information is stored on the server. After restarting the application, you will see that the character's EXP, lvls, and loot boxes count have been synced. Therefore, you can continue leveling. Finish line There are 3 trophies set regarding the reward of the loot box, and leveling is done in order to receive the loot box. The required ones are basically Epic or higher rarities, but I got the impression that the rarities assigned are fixed in units of a few lvls. I don't know the exact number, but for example, Legend is 1 in 50, Epic is 1 in 20, and so on. It is probably not possible to gather the desired items extremely quickly, and most likely the finish line will converge around the lvl450. Bootcamp Trophy - You're not supposed to be there (Reach 300,000 points in the Bootcamp) I know it's rare that someone who is susceptible to motion sickness would pick up this game... Leveling a character can be done without wearing a PSVR helmet, but it is very difficult when it comes to this trophy. Please take anti-sickness medication. XpAcErX
Just a heads up the PC Steam flat screen version of the game is still working fine. They havent shut it down yet. I'm currently still able to launch private matches with it and continue using the PC boosting method. EDIT: Finally went offline last night 9/8. It says its under maintence but I think its gone. 1 extra week was cool I guess. Edited September 9, 2022 by XpAcErX
