Dreakon139
Obsidian Entertainment has been teasing its next project since March, when CEO Feargus Urquhart called it a no-brainer of a licensed property. Today, GameStop-owned Game Informer magazine put all of the speculation to rest, pegging Obsidian's "leading animation franchise" as Comedy Central's South Park.Announced via this month's cover story, South Park: The Game is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, with THQ handling publishing duties. GI characterized the game as a "full-scale" role-playing game, where players assume the role of a new kid in town tasked with making friends and defending South Park from a "wide range of threats." In addition to writing the game's script and performing voice-over work, show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are overseeing development. South Park: The Game is set for release sometime in 2012. [uPDATE] Following the publication of this article, THQ officially announced South Park: The Game, confirming that it will be available during the back half of 2012 on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Obviously it'll never be a Fallout or Skyrim, but the story sounds solid enough to set up some good laughs.
Dreakon139
There is no way in Hell they pull this off. Dunno why not, there have been South Park games before.
Dreakon139
But never a full scale RPG. Tower Defense is plausible. Still, there was a South Park FPS on the N64 a ways back... add some NPC's and a coherent story and boom, you got yourself a full-scale South Park Action-RPG. Whether or not it's any good, who knows. skidmarkgn
There is no way in Hell they pull this off. A company that is capable of making good games combined with the creators themselves doing the writing and voice work suggests otherwise. Licensed games are for sure tough to pull off but it's been done before and I am going to stay optimistic about this one.

ille1234
Online co-op anyone? I'll be first in line for this one even though it'll probably be horribly mediocre at best. I love South Park.
Dreakon139
You can see some screenshots here: http://gamingeverything.com/12549/first-images-of-the-south-park-rpg/ From what I can tell, it's designed to look exactly like the show and will feature turn-based Final Fantasy-esque battle sequences.
