These games are terrible, where are the puzzles?

These games are devolving into really dumb 'link the thought to deduce something' and 'put the holograms in the correct order of events' and nothing more.

 

Puzzles are completely missing. No tools to examine bodies or evidence, you just automatically collect things on a button press.

 

Replaying the original Awakened game has made me miss how the classic Sherlock games made you actually think and solve puzzles using tools. Like a tape measure to get a shoe size, or lab to deduce a substance type. Not just collect a 'clue' then holograms appear to click in order.

I don't agree with the "terrible" assessment, though dumbing down this series upsets me as well. Crimes and Punishments still remains the pinnacle of Sherlock Holmes games.

Sherlock Holmes is an underrated gaming franchise, in my opinion. Yet to form my own assessment, but I know the developer is based in Ukraine and likely affected by the conflict.

I understand what you mean but those kind of puzzles have years to appear in the series. I don't remember which was thelast entry to feature them, it was Crimes and Punishment or The Testament?

How can it be "dumbed down" when the game is from 2007? 2023 version has updated graphics, 3rd person, and a sanity feature. ofc they could have added some more love, but maybe they just wanted some quick cash (to finance another [Sherlock] game)? I mean, nobody complains when Naughty Dog spits out the 18th remaster of The Last of Us, bcs "this is how it was meant to be"...
