PS3 PSN Store

It has been a while since I have bought anything from the PS3 PSN Store, only own a PS3. Can I add a credit card on the PlayStation App, and then buy from the PS Store through my PS3 console? Or, is my only option buying a PSN card to add to wallet by redeeming code through PlayStation App, and then purchasing from the PS Store through my PS3 console?

Nope, it's PSN Cards only, because the PS3 and Vita stores no longer accept credit or debit cards or even PayPal.

You’ll either have to purchase a prepaid card and use the code, or add funds to your wallet on the web/PS4/PS5 using your card on file.

Only wallet funds work on PS3 now, but I'm pretty sure that if you add your card on the PS Store on a PC (possibly the app too) you can use it to fill your PSN wallet from there, without having to buying a gift card.

 

I used to buy cards anyways to not have my card on file, plus they often sold for a bit less than they were worth, so it was a bit cheaper than buying directly from the store as well. But lately I've only seen cards cost what they're worth or even a bit above that. It was fun while it lasted.
