The 15-sample trophies are not quite as described

The descriptions say "as a team," but what actually matters is extracting with 15 samples in your personal possession.

 

The sample number you see in the upper right is the total number currently held by all members of your squad. Showing a 15 here will not pop the trophy unless you yourself extract with all 15.

 

Fortunately, this is quickly fixed, since Arrowhead considerately allows us to drop samples any time. At extract, the rest of the crew can hold down on the D-pad and give their samples to the guy getting the trophy. Easy when you know how to do it. (You can also use this feature for non-trophy purposes: stop by extract and drop off ahead of time, to prevent your containers being scattered over half creation!)

Samples are a diver's best friend is as a team, while Science is done by quantity requires you to carry them. Both descriptions are correct, Science is a diver's best friend is a bit vague though.

From the trophy descriptions. The 15 common samples have to be held by the person wanting the trophy. For the 15 rare samples trophy you just have to have 15 total as a team.
