Any purchasing advice for the upcoming Steam Winter Christmas Sale?

So considering that the Christmas sale will be beginning in just over a week, I was wondering if there's any advice on spending during the sale. A year or so back there were flash/daily sales where games would go for ridiculously low prices but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. 

Maybe we'd be able to collate a list of tips/tricks for the upcoming sale that could benefit everyone perhaps.

In actuality.... buy what you want and what you want to play and what you can afford.  Seems like common sense for buying anything really.  Not sure why you have to ask us but here's some google sites:

What you really wanna do, is compile a wishlist, and think about buying the games that are 50% or more off. That's what I usually do, and set yourself a limit. I'd say $50 is good, $100 is ermm, well. Yeah.
