Literally Can't Progress?

I have probably spent well over 100 hours on this game and literally can't progress for two reasons...

1. I can't find a farmer in the right system.
The only one I found is in a system controlled by a different race so I can't hire him...
I'm not packing up and moving just to hire a farmer. I like the planet I set up my base on, it's incredibly stupid to me that I can't just hire from anywhere when there isn't any conflict.

2. I can't go any further out to keep looking because I can't find warp drive upgrades... ANYWHERE. I have stripped clean anything interesting from just about every system I can reach looking for them.
I haven't played for a few months out of annoyance and boredom the game fought against me progressing that badly.

I'm thinking of coming back for that platinum though... But first... is there anyway I can look for those upgrades that is guaranteed?
I thought about farming for a freighter then setting it up into a farm to farm rare plants and summon it at stations with high demand for them then just buy any ships that come in the freighter that might have the upgrades attached... except I can't find a blasted farmer to unlock farming.

Well you literally can progress, just rather slowly

But once you've set up a base, you can use the portal in any system's space station to teleport back to it. You'll be able to freely teleport to and from your most recently used space station after that initial teleport, so you don't need to worry about leaving your base behind.

You can only get warp drive upgrades from completing Polo's tasks now. You used to be able to find them randomly, but I don't think that has been possible since the Foundation update. If it is possible, it's certainly not a reliable method, anyway.

Here's a little detail on who Polo is and where you can find him:

http://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Polo

http://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Space_Anomaly

A space anomaly will appear after you've spent 2 hours ingame and warped to a new system. You can only get one upgrade from each anomaly, so you'll need to wait 2 hours between each one.

Although none of this is required for the platinum; any warp counts towards the space exploration milestone.

I knew that. I was using that to farm money at a space station for a better ship since crashed ships aren't worth it anymore. I meant I need to move my base to another system controlled by a different race to hire a farmer. I can't hire the only farmer I have found because he is in a system controlled by another race.

Thank you for telling me this though! I thought you could still find it at random or in a space station controlled by... Gek I think it was?
At the same time though... I have only found a Space Anomaly once... and I did not get that upgrade. If they are available every 2 hours and I have over 100 hours will I still have to wait another 2? Or will there be a handy dandy backlog I can find?

Every warp counting is fine but with only so far to go and just about every system within range explored... it gets a little dull without progression. I'd rather progress than just sit and warp back and forth between two systems or something.

I was always able to hire the first NPC I found so I didn't realise you were blocked from hiring from certain systems.

I also heard you could find warp upgrades in Gek space stations, but I checked every single space station I passed on my journey to the center of the universe and didn't see a single warp upgrade. So it's either not possible or so rare it's not worth relying on.

You'll need to wait 2 hours between every anomaly no matter what. All the upgrades are given in order, too, so you'll have to wait 30 hours for the best warp upgrade. It sucks, but at least you're guaranteed to get it that way.

Why would you need to move your base to another system to hire a farmer? If you want to keep your base where it is, then keep it there. Find another star system controlled by the Gek (system control is noted next to the system's name when you press :left: on the D-pad while flying). Farmers are only found on stations in systems controlled by the Gek. Once you hire one, cross the station over to the other side, enter the teleporter, and both you and your ship will appear back on your home planet, then you can build his specialist terminal.

Unless there has been an update before or after that maybe I could have? Or you got lucky and they were in a system controlled by the same race as yours? Either way I named the system Farmer or something so I didn't loose it, so I can always try again.

Alright, I'll give up on the Gek stations then. I only found like two Gek systems anyway.

Oh lord 30 hours... good thing I have no life. xD

I'm not in a Gek system... I'm in one of the Android-looking guy's system. I can't remember their name...
So I can't hire a farmer at all because I didn't set up in a Gek system? There isn't any outside of Gek systems? So no matter where you set up you will miss out on a specific specialist terminal?

No, you don't have to hire all your specialists from the same system your base is located in. You're in a Korvax system, so hiring a Farmer is impossible, because Korvax systems only give you Scientists. Technicians and Builders are the only specialists located in every single system. So when the quest line tells you to hire a Farmer for your base, you warp to a Gek system, hire the Farmer, and he makes his way to your base. When the quest line tells you to hire an Armorer, you warp to a Vy'keen system, hire an armorer, and he makes his way to your base. Trust me, they're smart enough to figure out how to get to your system on their own. The base quest line has you getting material from different sources, like Viridium and Rubeum, which I can guarantee isn't in your home system. You're allowed to warp outside your home system to complete a quest requirement, it'd be impossible if you couldn't.

That's the problem. I have the quest to hire a farmer, I found a farmer in a Gek system and it wouldn't let me hire them. I presume it's because, as you say, you can't hire from a Gek system when your base is in a Korvax system. (Thank you for the name reminder by the way.)
At the same time you seem to be suggesting having the quest voids the system restriction so you can hire them? So I would assume my quest is glitched, because I do have the quest for it, but cannot hire him. I have done every single other quest up until this point because this completely walled me. I got very lucky with every resource in a system right by (or in) my own. As soon as I got the quest to get a farmer though my luck ran out. I had to go REALLY far to find a Gek system and the farmer was not hire-able.

No, you misunderstood. You can hire anybody you want where ever your base is located. If your base is in a Korvax system, you can hire all 5 specialists. If your base is in a Vy'keen system, you can hire all five specialists. And so on. I know this because I've completed the entire quest line. This NPC you say was a Farmer probably wasn't even a Farmer. Was he on a space station in space? Was there text under his name that said "Recruit Farmer"? If not, he probably wasn't. If so, there was probably a glitch, so I'd try a different Gek system and try again.

Oh also another thing to consider. Have you built the Farming Specialist Terminal in your base yet? You can't hire a Farmer until that terminal is built in your base.

Oh oh, okay. Yeah, he had "Recruit Farmer" and was in the space station. So I guess it has glitched... I can't remember what it said but I wasn't able to recruit him and yes, I do have his terminal set up and waiting. There is one other Gek system somewhere, though I will struggle to find my way back. I have only found two Gek systems. For some reason they are really rare here. Vy'keen are the second rarest... I only have about rank 2 with Gek and 4 with Vy'keen their systems are so rare. Meanwhile I have almost entirely learnt the Korvax language and am at max rank.

If you remember the name of the system, go to your Discoveries page, and highlight the name on the list. Hold :cross: to set a waypoint to it, then go to your Galaxy Map and press :l1: or :r1: to go to "Path to waypoint". It'll set a course for you to follow to get back to it.

Oh yeah I know to do that... Just no, I don't remember what I called it. xD

I still haven't hired anyone, built any bases, even made a car, or anything really, and I am full of warp cells. Can you not craft them yet or something?

@Super-Fly Spider-Guy Oops, sorry nearly missed this. No no. I'm not talking about the cells, I'm talking about the warp drive itself. I can't get to the S, I think it is, class galaxies right now because I can't find the warp drive upgrades. I can make the fuel no problem.

Honestly have no idea about classes, guess a lot changed since the last update. Sorry to be of no help.
