Popular Post ExistentialSolid
Much of the challenge in this collection can be minimized with cloud save scumming. For those not familiar with cloud save scumming, I'm going to explain the process below (feel free to skip this section if you have previous experience). Let's suppose you were aiming for the "Red Sunset" trophy in Missile Command and had passed level 5 on your way towards level 19. If you pause the game and go back to the collection's main menu, the game will generate a temporary save state of wherever you were in the game (you at level 5). Normally, this means that when you next boot up Missile Command, you will return right back where you left off at level 5 and this temporary save state will be deleted. If you were to resume from this save state and run out of bases, you'd be out of luck and need to restart from level 1. However, before resuming, we can take advantage of these temporary save states by backing up our save before these save states ever have the chance to be deleted (allowing us to resume from level 5 as many times as we want). So let's go back to when we had just paused Missile Command and returned to the main menu. From here, you close the game collection entirely, return to the dashboard, and upload your save to the cloud (to do this, hover over the game on the dashboard, press the "options" button, select "upload/download saved data," and select "upload all"). At this point you will have created a backup save of you at level 5 that you can revert to at any time by simply closing the game and downloading your previously uploaded save (which should now be stored in online storage through the cloud). There is no limit to how many times you can download your save or upload a new save so you are free to mess up repeatedly without losing your progress. Once you progress (let's suppose you make it to level 6), you upload and overwrite your new and improved save to the cloud. You should eventually fall into a rhythm: upload your save when you progress, download your previous backup save when you make mistakes. This process can be repeated anywhere in any game. In other words, if you want to save in the middle of level 5 and again at the start of level 6 or maybe you want to save a few seconds after your previous save, you can do that. Think of it as you being able to place custom checkpoints anywhere you want. Simply repeat this process as many times as it takes until you claw your way to victory. Again, this general method works for every game in the collection and makes most of the trophies far easier to collect. This process can be a little confusing if you've never done it before so I'm going to link a demonstration by Atarster if you'd like to see these steps done in video form (Note: Atarster does a slightly more long-winded approach to save uploading by going through settings instead of directly via the dashboard): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSR2rns56SM#NOTE: This exploit also works in both Vol. 1 and Vol. 3. You will need PS+ to upload/download your saves to the cloud. _______________________________________________________________________General Tips 1. Use a guide! Atarster has great guides over on playstationtrophies for volumes 1, 2, and 3 which can really help with some of the more confusing games like "Stellar Track" and "Atari Video Cube." I highly recommend looking them over as you play. Here is Atarster's guide for Vol 2: https://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/atari-flashback-classics-vol-2-a/309634-atari-flashback-classics-vol-2-trophy-guide-roadmap.html 2. Be careful when saving! There are two mistakes that are very easy to make in the save scum process: saving in an unwinnable position and accidentally uploading a save when you meant to download a backup. While you should take full advantage of the ability to save scum, you should be absolutely confident that victory is achievable before backing up your save. There's nothing worse than spending hours slowly working your way through Missile Command only to realize that you made a save in the middle of level 18 in which you don't have enough missiles to survive the level. 3. Do not feel discouraged if you have to download your backup saves dozens, if not, hundreds of times for some of these trophies. It can be a tedious and time-consuming process but you will inevitably succeed. Some trophies like "Unrocking your world," "Pacifist," and "Red Sunset" can take many hours each. 4. There are a few trophies that will be troublesome even with the ability to save scum. I will discuss the two that I found to be the worst offenders below."Hello, Beta Pegasi" (for reaching parsec 60 in game 10 or 11 of Star Ship) ~ Star Ship is the only game I've encountered in this collection that can stutter and become briefly unresponsive after being either unpaused or resumed. I repeatedly ran into an issue where I would make a backup save (let's say I saved at parsec 30) and upon resuming, I would be unable to steer the ship for 2-3 seconds because the controls were unresponsive. This unresponsiveness can often result in a death loop where no matter how many times I reverted to my backup save, I would be unable to steer after resuming and crash. If you struggle with this trophy as I have, you may find it easier to get to parsec 60 without save scumming which will be tricky but is still very doable with a bit of practice. What worked for me was continually flying towards the top-right of the screen. When an asteroid was in my path, I would let go of the gas, steer sharply to the left, and resume flying towards the top-right of the screen after the asteroid was safely dodged. I also strongly recommend playing on game 10 and not game 11 because you only need to dodge one asteroid at a time in game 10 while you must dodge 2 at a time in game 11."Red Sunset" (for reaching level 19 in Missile Command) ~ This trophy is generally considered the hardest in the collection and will likely test your patience the most. One tactic that can speed up your climb to level 19 is "pause buffering." To pause buffer, simply pause and unpause your game repeatedly. If you are pause buffering well, you should see the action play out nearly frame by frame. What you want to do is make minor adjustments between the time you unpause and pause again. In other words, if you see a missile to your right, you will hold the analog stick towards the right between each pause until you are in position and can fire. This can help make movement more precise and allow you to perform actions more quickly than you otherwise would be able to. This tactic will take practice to get the timing down so don't get frustrated if you are not getting results right away. As a last bit of advice, uploading your save after each successful level is the safest approach but saving mid-level can be helpful too (just be careful not to save in a position that makes clearing the level impossible). AJ_Radio
This will help a lot. Atari Flashback Classics Vol 1 wasn't too bad apart from a few trophies. However people have told me this is a mostly hard list. Mad respect to anyone who got all three volumes done on Atari.
