Ion Fury: Aftershock Delayed to 2022, Ion Fury 2.0 Next Month

Ion Fury developers announced an Ion Fury: Aftershock delay, meaning the previously announced expansion pack will release now Q1 2022, for PC, Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

In the meantime though, players can look forward to the Ion Fury 2.0 update next month.

The Ion Fury 2.0 update will include revamped controller support, improved support for mappers, and some balancing to the weapons. Shelly will also be able to carry power-ups with her with the new pocket inventory system, which should add a new strategic element to the first-person shooter.

Ion Fury: Aftershock takes place immediately after the ending events of the base game. Despite Shelly's best efforts, she wasn't actually able to take out Dr. Jadus Heskel once and for all. To prevent him from wreaking further havoc on humanity, she'll arm herself will all sorts of new weapons and a new, sleek Hover Bike. Aftershock will also include an Arrange mode, which integrates expansion enemies, weapons, and other content into the base game.

The love letter to shooters of the 90s combines the best of the classics and modern FPS gameplay. Using their experience with Build Engine, Voidpoint seeks to mesh all of the genre's best in Ion Fury. Frederik Schreiber, CEO of co-publisher 3D Realms, said, “Shelly’s adventure isn’t quite done yet, and Aftershock really expands Ion Fury in a big way. We hope you’re ready to help her finish the fight early next year!”

Ion Fury is available now on Steam and GOG. Voidpoint, founded by Build Engine modding veterans, entered the scene with Ion Fury as their debut game. The company seeks to continue to up the ante with the upcoming Ion Fury: Aftershock expansion. More is likely to be revealed in the coming weeks, including a definitive release date.
