So, because I'm so heavily focused on my backlog this year I decided to swap out the Metal Gear games I'd planned to do with a bunch of backlog games and, while I'm at it, add a 3rd list. I'll end up with less badges because of this, but I wanna prioritize progress and motivation since I have less time to play this year than last year. These are all games I'm more hype to play and fit better into my other gaming goals.

Thanks to COVID, or something like it that made me sick, I lost the desire to do any serious grinding for a while, so I started by platting the easiest game on the lot:

Even though I could possibly get (2) and (3) done in order after that, I'd have to scour Amazon.com for a physical copy of the Ratchet and Clank HD collection as I don't think the PS3 online store exists anymore. Also, I will definitely have to go to Amazon to buy a copy of Mugen Souls as I am sure that game is not available digitally. (I apologize if I was wrong about not being able to buy PS3 games digitally on my PS3, but it's been a long time since I had a PS3.) I'm not going to keep track of badges, so if Rebourne wanted to point out that I had earned a badge, that's perfectly fine with me. I just want to have fun.

 

I have downloaded 1.5+2.5 Remix and will be working on those Kingdom Hearts games soon enough. As for Hollow Knight and Star Ocean 4, it'll be a while as I need to budget my money as I plan on taking a trip to Salt Lake City in May.

Finally I have a new update having finished 9th Dawn III. it may only be my 2/10 but I'm really happy about this one. What a beast of a grind which I managed in just under 300 hours.

 

A hidden gem of a game which reminded me a lot of a cross between Diablo and the original Ultima games. Programmed by a single guy and the only fault it has is the grind to master all of the crafting types is mammoth.

A post on the Steam forum indicates a patch is coming to reduce the crafting materials needed but I was close enough to the end that I decided not to wait for it.

 

Only 163 owners on PSNP and I'm proud to be the 2nd to obtain the platinum and the fastest achiever!

@Rebourne07 A quick question about the 1%er Hardcore badge.

The platinum rarity was 0.61% before I completed it but I will raise it to over 1% due to the small number of owners (which I didn't really take into account)

Quick Update: Honestly I didn't think I would make as much progress as I have on Wipeout Omega collection but I feel like I've done enough progress for another update. Jumped from 37% to a respectable 92% for Wipeout Omega collection. Just missing the online trophies which I'm trying to sort out and a single miscellaneous trophy for finishing a race with pilot assist turned on which will literally take a few minutes to wrap up. Over the weekend, I'll try and return to Nioh 2 after a week off just to make some progress towards the platinum, so it looks like its collectible grinding for me.

 

If I have the time, I'd like to get through more of Dream of the Nioh difficulty (New game ++++) so I can get strong enough to smash through the remaining DLC trophies. I'm not sure which project to start next, I'm sure the Aussie lad I speak with at the weekend will guide me in the right direction! I'm very happy to see over 85% overall completion towards the hardcore badge. I don't fear RE4 Remake in terms of the trophy requirements because RE4 is a childhood game for me, plus I played a lot of professional mode back in the day.

 

God of War 2018 I don't fear due to my extensive experience with hack n slash games. Armoured Core 6 is definitely unknown territory since I've barely played any mech based combat games before. Soul Calibur 6 I don't fear either, Doom 3 will be a test for sure and of course mein leben on Wolfenstein 2. Slowly but surely chipping my way through the challenge.

Platinum #287 - SpongeBob HeroPants

Ok guys, I'll be straight with you. I'm a 37 year old man and my favorite TV show is...SpongeBob SquarePants lol It's freaking hilarious. No idea why up until now I haven't played any of the SpongeBob games, but I'm repenting now and doing them all. This game was ok, not as good as the show since it didn't focus much on the characters, but still cool nonetheless. The trophy list was good, except for one trophy (isn't that always the case?). The grind at the end for upgrade coins was excessive, having to grind probably 4hrs after getting all other trophies just for coins. Anyway, first step complete of my new goal to 100% the SpongeBob series Next update will most likely be for L.A. Noire on List #3.

First game for list #2 complete, Ultimate Chicken Horse. This is just an incredible party platformer. With the exception of grinding for outfits and traps the game is fairly painless. Making good progress on the guide should be able to send it in for publishing within the month with a bit of luck. This update took forever since Dissida Final Fantasy has been taking all of my free time lately. Quick Update: Honestly I didn't think I would make as much progress as I have on Wipeout Omega collection but I feel like I've done enough progress for another update. Jumped from 37% to a respectable 92% for Wipeout Omega collection. Just missing the online trophies which I'm trying to sort out and a single miscellaneous trophy for finishing a race with pilot assist turned on which will literally take a few minutes to wrap up. Over the weekend, I'll try and return to Nioh 2 after a week off just to make some progress towards the platinum, so it looks like its collectible grinding for me.

 

If I have the time, I'd like to get through more of Dream of the Nioh difficulty (New game ++++) so I can get strong enough to smash through the remaining DLC trophies. I'm not sure which project to start next, I'm sure the Aussie lad I speak with at the weekend will guide me in the right direction! I'm very happy to see over 85% overall completion towards the hardcore badge. I don't fear RE4 Remake in terms of the trophy requirements because RE4 is a childhood game for me, plus I played a lot of professional mode back in the day.

 

God of War 2018 I don't fear due to my extensive experience with hack n slash games. Armoured Core 6 is definitely unknown territory since I've barely played any mech based combat games before. Soul Calibur 6 I don't fear either, Doom 3 will be a test for sure and of course mein leben on Wolfenstein 2. Slowly but surely chipping my way through the challenge.

 

You got this. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a gem of game and an amazing remake! I want to try Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus, but I do not think I can do it, honestly, haha.

Hey, my reasonings for doing this game for my list is because I already had Binding of Issac on my other account and the other options were FPS or stuff that would drive me to an early grave if I tried them. At least this is an RPG.

 

Then again, if I really cared about myself, I wouldn't be doing this challenge. I'm 51 and my motis are low, so throwing myself to the wolves playing a really hard game like Mugen Souls is stupid unlike I really really like the characters and game and I do. (Of course, those games will have to wait until I can consript some money to them because I am saving up for a trip to Utah and a three day stay at a hotel, which isn't cheap. At least my dad offered to cash in his precious frequent flyer miles to get me an airplane ticket to and from.)

I completed two more games this week.

 

The first one is Foamstars and I had a lot more fun than I would have expected before going in. It was a perfect fit with its 6/10 rating to get my money bags badge on list 3. It also had a good soundtrack which participated a lot in my enjoyment of the game.

 

The second one is Alan Wake 2. I played this game in January and had some collectible grind left to do for the platinum and it is now done. I had a really good time with the game and there are some memorable moments to be remembered! Unfortunately, this game cannot fit in any of my current lists. But fortunately for me, it is a game that does not give any badge by itself so I will start a 4th list that will focus on the minesweeper badge. I will try to fit games that I play outside of this event scope in it and will look more seriously into it when my other lists are done. For now, Mass Effect 3 that I had to swap out of list 3 also fits in this 4th list so it is already off to a good start with two games completed!

Platinum #288 - L.A. Noire

Wow this one takes me back. This is from when I first started earning trophies. I started this in July 2011 so I hadn't quite been trophy hunting a year when I started this. I remember I rented it through GameFly and all 5 of my college roommates all played it with me, as in, I'd play and they'd comment and we'd all guess together on interview questions and stuff. It was fascinating. Not sure exactly why I didn't platinum it at the time. Only reason I can think of it that GameFly sort of incentivized me to beat games and return them and keep that cycle going. It was really cool to revisit this and the DLC was good too Next I'll do a few games not related to this challenge but the next challenge game I'll do is God of War Ragnarok I think. I also need to sit down and really try to squeeze a few extra badges out of these lists cause I reordered everything to sort of prioritize the lists in order 1, 2, 3 but in doing so I lost some badges. I found that Star Ocean 4 HD is included in my PS+ Extra package for free, but I have no idea if the trophy list for that game is the same as the one for International, which is the version covered by PlaystationTrophies.org, and it's rated at a 9.5 difficulty, so I don't know if it's worthy of being a 10.

It is the same list (I wish it wasn't) and rest assured, I am sure Star Ocean: The Last Hope -International- is still fine in either the 9th or 10th spot. Some will disagree, but hey, everyone has an opinion these days it seems. Anyways, most just can't handle the last 10% as those take the longest to get (mainly the 30k kills x2).

You can use it as either your 9 or your 10, as it's pointed out in the rules.

Update:

Finally finished Crysis 3. Damn, that was a pain in the ass... After cleaning up all online trophies before shutdown I thought the rest would be a piece of cake. Well, it would have been, if my stupid game hadn't glitched on me... I was missing only one nanosuit upgrade kit, and of course, it glitched on me and I had to make another additional playthrough just for this one trophy. I'm glad I'm finally done with this one.
