Offline play?

Yes, the first Helldivers game can be played offline. I platinumed and 100% completed that game on Vita playing almost always offline. I only played online to earn all 4 trophies that required more than 1 people (4 people in vehicle on a Friday, throw a grenade to bring you and your whole team back, join another player's session and extract with 4 people).

Can you complete a war offline?

If I recall correctly, you need to be signed in to PSN for that one and for the trophy that requires you to complete a defense mission.

What I meant in my previous post is that you can earn almost all trophies solo except for the 4 trophies I listed in there.

You can play this offline but you can't Plat or 100% it offline, because there are various trophies that have to be done online. Also, the game is a lot easier if you play with a full squad of players, because the higher difficulty missions can be real bastard to do solo.

A total of 6. The ones I mentioned in my previous posts. Although some trophies should be easier playing co-op, like the DLC ones for beating bosses. But everything except 4 trophies can be done solo.

How did you manage to solo the Hell Planet difficulty 🤔? I ask, because I tried them in 2018 after they added that new difficulty level but died almost immediately, due to how brutal it was :(. Also, the "Why wasn't this standard issue?" trophy requires some items that can only be obtained from these new planets.

I didn't, I platted the game in 2017, Helldive was the top difficulty back then.

Now, that you mention it, do you mean Helldive difficulty? You need to play a planet that doesn't have missions/objectives that take too long and don't let the enemies sound the alarm, if you managed to prevent them from sounding the alarm until your ship is almost there, you can complete a mission on Helldive, better yet if you can completely stealth the planet.

Never play against the Cyborgs, the big Tank (the actual tank-like enemy) that can trigger the alarm makes impossible to complete missions on higher difficulties let alone a Helldive one.

Go for the bugs which are the easier ones. Only the big bug enemy (actually both, the one that has tentacles and the one who runs at you) is a problem but you can call an ammo stratagem and make it drop on top of it, or dash and strafe while firing at its weak spot until it dies in the case of the bug with tentacles. However try not to get overrun.

I used defensive towers (tesla tower was my choice) to prevent bugs to bother me while I was doing the objectives, they totally annihilate the little bugs that can sound the alarm and hold their own against another not so powerful bugs. You need to place the towers surrounding the objective area in missions like finding mines and alike. For escorting missions just make sure to kill the little bugs asap and as long as one survivor makes it to the extraction, you are good.

The key to complete a mission on Helldive is not to let the enemy sound the alarm or to lose them if it's triggered.

I haven't played the game in years but the devs added 3 new planets in 2018 that go from Difficulty Level 13 to Difficulty Level 15: The Inner Circle of Hell 🤔.

What about the winning a war trophy?

You need to be online for both, winning a war and for defending a planet.

Ah, ok. Since you only said Hell I thought Helldive, there were only 12 difficulties when I last played the game.

If you mean "Peace and prosperity reigns again" or "Spreading Managed Democracy", both of them are online only.

That is a bummer. People just aren’t participating. Does the next war scale in difficulty based on the results of an incredibly difficult war and loss?

The community stuff supposedly scales based on how many people are playing at the time but I can't confirm that. Also, the community trophies can be a real bitch to get, because a large chunk of the community are more interested in boosting XP and generally messing around, then they are in completing the objective, therefore you will likely have to suffer several lost wars before getting them :(.

That makes sense, but I’m just hopeful it does scale down low enough for us to win at least one more war…😅

When I was in the old Helldivers discord, the community weren't interested in winning a war since they really don't get anything from it. It's mainly trophy hunters that join before and after Helldivers 2 release who pushed for wars to be won. Seems now that boost of players is slowly dying off unfortunately.

Is the scaling down sufficient to counter that issue?

The scaling is too small to be noticeable in my experience so all you can do is wait, pray and twiddle your thumbs until the community decides to get its act together long enough to earn the community trophies for everyone :(.

Probably not, cause you'll be in a pool of players that don't care about a war win. When I first played Helldivers in August last year, I joined too late for "Peace and prosperity reigns again". It took until January for me to get that trophy. Had wars that were going nowhere, so the hype for the new game definitely helped motivate people to win. Now you had players that played 2 and then wanted to do the 1st game right after which can only last for so long. The amount of players won't matter if the motivation isn't there to begin with.

Wars will continue to be won until such time the devs decide to shut everything down, it's just a matter of when and how patient you're prepared to be until the community gets its act together and starts winning again :).

That's a shame. I want to win the war so I can fight stuff other than cyborgs to be honest.

The last defense was absurdly easy and the bar is filling up faster. Final strike will be tonight for sure. I have a better feeling because we only automatically lost one sector instead of three. It might finally be doable tonight.
