Rogue : recommended on nightmare ?

I don't disagree with that, at all. However, since he offered the statement, the statement of fact needs to be backed up by the one who offers the statement once it is called into question. In truth, I said two words which he took exception to. If that is the case, fair enough, I said it upfront and will say it again I don't believe him. However, I am willing to publicly apologize and say I was wrong if he can provide simple proof of his statement that he decided to insert into a situation (this post) which had no relevant addition to the thread. In other words, he was tooting his horn, was called out, and now he is scrambling to fix his wounded ego that he conjured to appear important.

Like I said though, he made the statement initially thus it falls to him to prove it. So..... prove it. I have numerous videos of my playthroughs as PS has a great video record setup. It should take mere seconds to do it. Since I am positive he can't because he is full of it, the point is moot until he does so.

It's funny that you guys argue about this because I beat the game on nightmare, level 5 without using companions or armor with only my fists on my first playthrough. All this on my other account of course.

My hero!

I understand your reasons, but you need to shrug off some comments posted on forums.

Don't waste energy on immaterial. The conversation to this point has been good. Let's return to that.

Apparently I must have accomplished a feat that is impossible. Level 15 DW rogue assassin. Cassandra, Vivienne, Sara as main companions. Two mastercraft duel-blade daggers with fire runes, with the superb dragonwhateveritscalled armor for the rogue. Also a little help from Ferris and his endless supply of free Inquisition points and duplicating crafting materials. Hardest part of the game was aiming the third trebuchet which I only managed to do once I started using Vivienne and her ice wall to keep the enemies away from me while I aimed it. Struggled throughout the first part of the game but once you unlock the character specializations it really becomes a much easier game. Also while attempting to recruit the Templars the Envy Demon just decided to die with half health so IDK what that was all about.

Next time I play I can post how I allocated the ability points if anyone would like to know my build.

Any tips or glitches or something on how to kill the Hinterlands Dragon? I am just lvl 11 with not so bad EQ, but he is 12.

You could always use the teleporting companions trick to teleport their dead bodies somewhere safe and either revive them or go far enough for them to come back to life themselves. You can do that and the dragons health won't reset so I guess if you do that enough you will eventually kill him.

Or if you don't care about exploiting things you could go to Crestwood and get unlimited amulets of power for your Inquisitor. That is however if you've close the rift in the lake in Crestwood.

Oh, i dinn't know about the 1st glitch, but i knew about the second one, problem is that I didn't unlock Crestwood yet, also i dunno how to unlock it lol. I have to play more story missions, right? :D

Yeah, you must complete In Your Heart Shall Burn.

Everything was fine, I was killing enemies pretty easily, but after Q In Your Heart Shall Burn I'm really struggling to kill anything. I don't think my equip is bad, but my tanks can't survive almost nothing. Also I think my DMG is pretty low 150 DPS bow (I am lvl 13).

This is my guide which I posted on another website. Feel free to ask questions.

There is no specific class which makes it easier to beat Nightmare diffuclty so feel free to choose your favorite class. I am personally doing it with Tempest Rogue and killed all high dragons in the game on Nightmare difficulty and just some main story quests left in order to obtain this trophy. Remember! More you progress - easier it becomes.

My advice is to go with Tank, 2 Mages and Rogue. Since my character was Rogue I took Blackwall, Vivienne and Solas. Why them? Blackwall is the best tank in the game since his specialisation makes him a "fortress". Solas and Vivienne... You can swap either of them to Dorian but I am not a fan of Necromancy tree for mages.

Try to not skip enemies in the begginning of the game, although "The Hinterlands" is a tough beginning area try to do your best there. Collect and open as much items as you can.

Closing rifts might be hard but bare in mind that you can stop rifts from summoning demons by dispelling red circles on the ground. If you place your dispel magic wisely you can disable 2 or even 3 spawning locations with a single mage. Having 2 mages helps a lot here.

Solas and Vivienne must be spirit mages no matter what you like for the "Nightmare". Barriers will save you a lot and Mind Blast can stop extremely annoying terrors to annihilate you.

Don't hesitate to craft weapons and armor. The best armor will drop only from High Dragons. So as soon as you get tier 3 schematic (which is the highest possible in the game) just go with it.

If I forgot anything please let me know, I'll add to this guide.
That's all for now. Enjoy the game and good luck with trophy hunting!

You chose tempest rogue because of the glitch with thousand cuts? Also were you dual-wielding or archer?

I've been using Rogue Archer (Though, am very early in the game) and have made nightmare my first playthrough. Nightmare has proved to be hard but manageable so far, Archer seems like a great choice, invisible getaway, can shoot from afar. Does a lot of damage. Archer is also a lot of fun to play as too.

Actually I never used Thousand Cuts... I prefer normal focus ability to it. The reason why I chose tempest is because flasks are powerful. Lighting, ice and fire flasks are good for specific situations. Dual wield daggers with 500 dmg on each. Crafted weapon.

I don't think Rogue is the best character.

As of now, I'm playing as a Rogue on my first Nightmare playthrough.

Haven't finished the game, probable not even close if you look at my trophies.

The best class I've found (through a certain companion) is warrior sword and shield.

This companion (there are three warriors possible, but I don't wish to drop names to spoil them) is often my last one standing.

I've finished boss battles with only this one standing, even surprising myself to the persistence and endurance.

Nightmare can be brutal in damage, mainly for mages who can die very fast, so keep that in mind when picking a class.

My two strongest charachters are both warriors (sword & shield, two handed) and they really kick ass.

In my next playthrough (probable not nightmare again), I will choose a warrior with sword and shield.

With more people playing through the game with different builds, I no longer believe there is a "one-build" for easy rogue win.

I was successful doing Archery/Assassin, while SooFany was successful (and guided others) to use Tempest.

Neither is wrong!

If you're having difficulty with non-story related questions/enemies (i.e dargons [yes spelled incorrectly on purpose]), skip and come back. I finished the game doing everything but the Emprise Du Lion Dragon #3 (lv 23) and final boss leveled me to 24.

My team was Cassandra, Vivienne and Solas.

The only quest I had difficulty with was In Your Heart Shall Burn, due to unfamiliarity of Replen pots (and noobness). But I got through it, and the rest was easy(ier) and enjoyable.

Actually it doesn't matter what class you have.

The best advice for nightmare is doing ALL the sidequests - if possible - before continuing the story.

I tried a story quest that required lvl 12-15 as a 14. Failed so many times.

Spend five days doing sidequests, getting better armor, better potion, and tried again at lvl 18.

The mission was still very challenging, but went a lot smoother.

Rogue is fine, in fact i play the most time with Sera as Bow-DD, you die fast or immediately if you get hit, but you can avoid it with some techniques.

My own character is a two handed warrior and that was the worst decision for playing in Nightmare, i'd suggest you play either bow-rogue or mage.

I agree, I'm one handed warrior and I use varric with his bow most of the time, i regret I didn't choose mage or rogue too

But maybe I'm not very good yet and 20hours of game is not enough for me considering I'm trying to explore every corner and read every note :)

I completed game on NM (did all achies) with

1. Me as champion. With right spec it's really fun to play. You can control everything except for random behavior of dragons. Plus at some point you just become unkillable.

2. Vivienne. Good dps. Crazy barrier removal. Dispel. Same as tank at some point she will never die. For example dragon fight. AI likes to do crap all around as a dragon or as companion, especially melee companion. But any dragon can be killed as tank + Vivienne or Vivienne by herself. It will be slower, but less stressfull and safer.

3. Solas. Rift tree is very powerfull. Great CC, great debuffs to make enemies weak. Dispel.

4. I took Cole. I like to loot things, so i wanted roge in my party. Specced him to archer, so he will not get cleaved in melee, but still could do some good burst with assassin's tree. Plus dialogs between those 3 are kinda funny.

My thoughts. This game hates melee classes. For the start i wanted to play as melee rogue. Tbh it will be not fun and not that easy at start. Many mobs do cleave or do stomps and other attacks that can easy kill you. If you play melee, you will be mostly running around and waiting for good moment to land a strike. And oneshoting weaklings. And rogues do not have anything to protect self. Didn't look fun to me. Archer... well it's a safe tree. At start. And kinda boring imo. Plus you do very low dmg at the begining compared to other classes. But both melee and ranged will do fine at the end if you do control em. All you need just to force self to get there by playing class that can die in few seconds because it was in wrong place in wrong time.

Reaver can do good dps and stay alive most of time. But before that you will have ~10 lvls of melee madness :)

So ranged classes is a way to go for safe play. Mages are idd overpowered, as always :) They have shields, lifesaver, CC, frostblink. Ontop of at add passives and you will have infinite mana and skills always off cd.

PS Before i sent everything to hell and started to kill dragons me + Vivienne i tried to kill those with all members safe and alive, doing what i want em to do and do not overuse potions. It is stressul and painful. So i had to switch between characters quite often. Do not do that! Because those switching can teleport one of your chracter of the map or to the sky, then rest of the party and then teleport back. Had that crap few times during dragon fight. After that teleportation dragon health was reseted. From 10% to 100%. After that i just sent it to hell and started to play as Vivienne, sometimes poping CDs on metank.
