Therein lies the crux of the identity crisis. I can accept that I have simply outgrown FF, but I it's also worth mentioning that I was seven years old when the first Final Fantasy game out for Nintendo. That game was a lot more challenging than the current generation of final fantasies. You got to pick your classes, customize your party, access any part of the world even if it was filled with monsters that would wipe you out. Dying meant losing progress, etc, etc...

 

Just because someone is young doesn't mean you have to hold their hand for them through the entire game.

On that note we agree, FF was a great challenge on it's gold age. I remember on IX when you get to a secret area on Disc 1 and enter an area with a Great Dragon, man I hated those bastards xD but thats the way FF used to tell you were straying for the intended path.
