11 Year Old Receives GTA V Early

I played Metal Gear Solid whenever I was seven and followed the story-line pretty well. I think the problem here is that people lose that connection with their childhood self; children are not as stupid as they are perceived to be by the people who are "grown-up." Anyone here who was playing games or watching movies that were deemed too adult or mature for them whenever they were younger? Of course. I'm pretty sure most people here turned out fine, and will more than likely show those games and movies to their children.

I know what I'm doing for my son's or daughter's seventh birthday, if I ever have children that is: educating the wee bastard on Metal Gear.

I'm not saying kids are stupid.  Catherine's story isn't one they will understand since it's about relationships, middle age crisis and cheating.. I understood the MGS series as well as a kid, but it's a lot different of story than Catherine's is.  So unless an adult explains to them what is going on in Catherine, I don't think they'll quite understand playing alone.

If I were the kind of person to ever have kids, I would totally do something like that as well, but with fighting games and Final Fantasy. lol

Well, atleast they are taking the 18+ rating of GTA V seriously... (Sarcasm sign)

Exactly my thoughts some parents are just so stupid im sure they wouldn't hand him a porn film so why hand him a game about murder robberies prostitution the age rating is there for a reason parents are too naive sometimes i personally feel 15 is sufficient age rating for GTA but a 11 is a bit young to be playing this game. I work in cinema part time and we always get parents come in with young children to watch films which they clearly not old enough to watch of course we have to refuse entry and they'll stand there arguing for ages about being the parent and allowing their child to watch the films its hilarious and annoying dealing with these stupid parents.

Jesus Christ it's only a game xD Games shouldn't have age ratings, they should have intellect ratings, it's only the stupid crazy mother fuckers that actually go and kill people, I've watched horror movies and played GTA and other violent games ever since I was young and you know what, I've not shot anyone, I've not ran over any hookers and I don't think that would be a good idea to do either, only the stupid fucks blame video games for what the stupider fucks do.

lol I wasn't implying this kid would become a serial killer or anything like that. What I am saying is that when young people play something intended for mature teenagers/adults they tend to lose control and their behaviour changes as well. You need to raise children properly man and let them ease into violent games and movies. The world has changed a lot since I was a kid so I think I have a point here.

personally I let my kids play 18 rated games as most of there friends play them and ive brought them up where if I hear them repeat any of the bad language then I will take the game off them. you cant tell me you waited till you were 18 before playing call of duty or seeing an 18 rated movie

Having worked for Sony I used to get free games early all the time (uncharted 3, infamous 2, littlebig plane 2, Vita etc). It really isn't that big of a deal. The online is dead (obviously) so there is no fun there and it just means I can beat the game a couple of days earlier than other people.

Here in Winnipeg this guy was trying to sell his copy of Last of Us 2 days before release date for 500$ and that stuff happens all the time on eBay for games like Call of Duty and Halo. Why would you pay more for a game just to have it a couple of days earlier than other people?
