SEGA is releasing their animated film, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate in theaters over in Japan by the end of next month. If you where a fan of their 2010 action game Bayonetta, you will want to see this trailer.

The animation studio behind this film is Gonzo who also did Afro Samurai. If that wasn’t enough, the director for Afro Samurai will also be doing this film. Expect it to be over the top. It comes out in Japanese theaters on November 23rd.

FUNimation® Entertainment announced today that the company has acquired U.S. & Canadian rights to the full-length feature film BAYONETTA: Bloody Fate. BAYONETTA: Bloody Fate, which was produced by GONZO animation studio and internationally acclaimed director Fuminori Kizaki, was released in theaters on DVD & Blu-ray in Japan last year and faithfully retells the story of the first BAYONETTA game in full anime glory.

Director Fuminori Kizaki will also be making an appearance as a guest of honor at this year’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles, July 3-6 where a “sneak peek” of the English dub ofBAYONETTA: Bloody Fate will be shown for fans at the convention, along with a special Q&A with Director Kizaki following on Saturday, July 5th, at 8:15pm in Video 1.

FUNimation plans to release the animated movie on DVD and Blu-Ray sometime this year with a released date that has yet to be announced. BAYONETTA 2 is also set for a release this year in October, so be sure to check out our E3 impressions on the sequel sometime this week.

Nice, but I'd rather see Bayonetta 2 coming to the PS3. Maybe this is a way to give to increase the number of fans and to bring Bayonetta 2 to the PS3/Xbox?

Impossible, Nintendo is fully funding Bayonetta 2. It will remain a Wii U exclusive.

A perfect fit! Everything about this game makes it ideal for an anime

Sounds more like wishful thinking. Hardly anything these days remains exclusive....and given how the majority the series' fanbase HAD to own other consoles to play the first game, its not likely in the case of Bayonetta 2. Without a port of the original, its just not practical to expect Nintendo's diehard fanbase to heavily get behind the sequal.

The original will be bundled digitally with the retail game.
