It's actually back

Recommended Posts

I remember reading they were going to re-release this, but I was extremely skeptical. Very unusual situation, for a game like this to make a return. Maybe now the guide I wrote for .org very late in the game's release will actually be useful. Trophies look to be similar to the earlier list (but with a few additions, including plat!).

EDIT: Looks like a 6-Sep launch for NA and EU.

What do you do in this game? I feel like no one knew back during it's original release and somehow it's back and it looks the same. It's this big empty world you run around in and there will be little spots where you get resources and you just build stuff? Shocking to me this game of all games comes back. I remember there were annoying sliding puzzles OR YOU CAN JUST PAY REAL MONEY TO SKIP THEM :D weird 30 minutes I had with this game back then

Yeah, you gather resources and try to build up your town, but it's all very impermanent and you'll end up traveling from town to town to basically repeat the cycle. I'm not sure if that was due to low player base or if that's really the nature of the game. You also have to fight of monsters of varying size, so you can basically kill with your pickaxe and some you will need to defeat using town defense turrets.

Honestly it's been a long time since I played the game and I'm probably forgetting some details, haha.

EDIT: Just saw that it's not f2p this time around. Very curious indeed how that will change some of the mechanics.

Yes, the game is almost. I wish for a lot of succes for the developer. €39.99 might be a steep price, but you can spend many hours with this game. The Trophylist has a few Trophies that definitely require some time to achieve (the 20 Voidka for example).

Very excited about this!... tho I'm worried about the fact it's no longer F2P. It was a super niche and obscure game to begin with, and even while it was F2P, there weren't a lot of people playing it. Putting such a steep price tag on it is a rather interesting move...hopefully for the best!

Beaufiful trophy iamges and a plat! Worthy of a milestone :)

Game has major differences from the old one. It is now P2P and there is no risk for losing the online service again! You can have your own offline town and AI could help you. Of course it is designed for online experience and best fun is there. You can host your own town or simply you can visit others' public towns. Also you can post your town's code on a message thread/twitter etc to make it crowded by players/friends.

There is no micro-transactions. You play as a Projection Clone and your job is to help rebuilding the town and humanity. Only our main character who is able to go beyond the city limits can provide the resources needed to explore the Islands and rebuild the Town.

Idea of game economy (socialism/capitalism parody) is that you'll earn your rights (papers, tools, etc.) by working hard for your town. But on the other hand, you'll get an option to get yourself goodies via Black Market with the Freemen's money (aka Freeman Dollars) which are rare to find and collect!

TTC was a PlayStation Exclusive before and now IP returned to its original developer. In my opinion, The Tomorrow Children is a unique artwork -from script to music, from art design to game-play mechanics.
