Unexpected problem. Please, I need help.

Yesterday I was finally able to start my japanese version of Asura’s Wrath on PlayStation 3 and I encountered an annoying issue related with DLC.

In the past, I have already had to create accounts in countries like China or the United States to be able to buy the downloadable content associated with the region of my physical games. My american version of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a good example.

The thing is, to create a new account, all menus appear in japanese without the possibility of changing the language to english… so, is the japanese version of the game compatible with DLC from any region other than Japan?

Okay… After a while creating and configuring it, I finally have a brand new Japanese account. Yikes!

Now I have the one that I suppose will be my last problem related to this thread… I usually buy gift cards through Eneba; I save a lot of money that way. But, apparently, Japanese gift cards are much more expensive than the amount you get with them on the PS Store.

Does anyone know of a trusted website with good prices on Japanese gift cards?

27.03.2012 (209¥) Episode 11.5

03.04.2012 (209¥) Episode 15.5

24.04.2012 (734¥) Episode Pack: Part IV

08.05.2012 (209¥) Lost Episode 1

15.05.2012 (209¥) Lost Episode 2

209¥ = 1.39€

734¥ = 4.89€

Total: 1.570¥ = 10.46€

Subtracting DLC without attached trophies: 1.152¥ = 7.68€

So I will try to aim for a gift card with the amount closest to 1.570 yen or to 1.152 yen as a last resort.

Play-Asia.

If you know how to use a VPN, Amazon Japan.

Yeah, you'll either have to buy 2 1,100 YEN codes or 1 3,000 YEN. That's where I usually get mine.

So…

PSN Card 1.100¥ | PSN Japan (11’70€)

PSN Card 3.000¥ | PSN Japan (26’33€)

And…

1.100¥ = 7’37€

3.000¥ = 20’09€

A bit overpriced… Is this the best option out there? Really?

There's pretty much always a mark up when you buy cards online from "unofficial" retailers. Japan Supply Code, which I also used would only save you a few cents.

The cheapest and fairest way would be to get someone from Japan to buy one for you without charging you a fee. You could also fly there but that'd be a tad bit more expensive.

Thank you for your answers, guys. In the end, I opted for the 3.000¥ gift card in Play-Asia and bought all the downloadable content of Asura’s Wrath, plus another new game. I spent exactly 3.000 yen. Now my Japanese account wallet is empty. Hehehe…
