It uses completely different methods of tracking the controllers. The Move's biggest difference is the light ball tracking, which the Wii doesn't do. They are not interchangeable.

They're not even on the same planet when it comes to the tech inside them so no, you can't use a Wii Mote with the PS3.

Read a few places online that mentioned that a Wii Remote and Nunchuck can be used as a substitute for the Move Controllers.

Was curious if anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks all!

Let me elaborate a bit on the technology difference others have mentioned, just in case you want more details:

The PS3/4 Move controller works through the camera tracking the ball on its tip which lights up in different colors. The Dualshock 4 also has this feature, which is why some, but not all, PSVR games can be controlled with the DS4.

The Wiimote has a completely different tracking method. It comes with a "sensor bar" that is actually just two infrared LEDs tracked by an infrared camera in the controller which the system uses to triangulate the controller's  position in 3d space.

Basically, the two systems work the excact opposite from each other.
