Popular Post Light_of_Yes
Thank you for visiting my trophy checklist! I am Light_of_Yes and I am a video game player (as you can see). I am also a big music fan. If you look at my screen name and the name of this post, you might be able to guess my favorite band. Anyways... I have been playing games for quite a long time. It was something my grandpa and I used to do back when I was a young child. We would play on the Super Nintendo and the game I remember most is Tetris Attack (Panel de Pon in the rest of the world). From there, I would go on to get a Nintendo 64. I did not get into the Sony consoles until the middle of the Playstation 2 life cycle. From there, it did not take me long to make the Sony consoles my go to systems for gaming. I am not a fanboy though, if you like playing games then I don't care on what system you do it on. My favorite genre is rhythm/music games. I'm talking Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Parappa the Rapper, etc. This is true to this day. Over the past few years, I have been moving away from first-person shooters and really digging the JRPG scene. [My trophy checklist is set up so that it is compact and easy to navigate. Plus, I just like basic, straight forward things. In each of the spoiler tagged sections, I have written my thoughts on the game and my thoughts on the platinum trophy] Platinum trophy #33 Resident Evil 6 (PS4) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #32 Life is Strange (PS4) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #31 Game of Thrones (PS4) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #30 Xblaze Code: Embryo (PS3) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #29 Murdered: Soul Suspect (PS4) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #28 Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi (PS3) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #27 Back to the Future: The Game (PS3) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #26 Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (PS3) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #25 The Walking Dead -Season 1- (PS4) This game is mostly story driven and operates like a point and click game when not in a cutscene. The story and emotion are simply AMAZING. I enjoyed how the player's decision affect characters and the story. Best of all, your choices carry through each chapter of the game and will carry over to Season 2. I LOVED THIS GAME'S STORY SO MUCH! I recommend this game to anyone who want a good story driven game. The platinum trophy is awarded for playing through the game so its an easy platinum. Platinum trophy #24 The Wolf Among Us (PS4) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #23 Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed (PS4) -Write up coming soon- Platinum trophy #22 The Wolf Among Us (Vita) -Write up coming soon!- Platinum trophy #21 Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit! (Vita) TL:DR (The short version of my rambling) It is a very basic rhythm game with a nice soundtrack, It has the typical humor of Senran Kagura and the insane level of fan-service. I recommend getting the base game and the DLC songs/characters ($30 total). The rhythm game portion is easy to jump into and is simply matching notes scrolling across the screen. The notes do not actively try to trick you like Hatsune Miku. If you like Senran Kagura or rhythm games I say give it a try. The Long Story Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit is an interesting little rhythm game. The base game (Hanzo X Crimson Squard) comes with 10 songs/characters for 14.99. The game is a very basic rhythm game. There are 2 columns on which notes scroll on and when they reach the icon, you press the corresponding button. And...that's it. The tracklist is pretty darn good, and since this is rhythm game, that makes the game pretty awesome. Each song corresponds to a particular character and when you "battle" a character you play their song. Pretty simple. You can play through the story mode which is hilarious and fanservice-y story about each character entering a cooking contest to win a scroll that will grant ANY wish. Hijinx ensues! Also included are arcade mode (6 battles without the story interludes), free mode (pick any song and play it), and the library (view cut-scenes and ending images). There is also the dressing room where you can admire any character and dress (or undress) them. The game is basic, but it is fun and entertaining! I recommend getting the DLC (Gessen x Hebijo) so that you have 20 songs to choose from and you also get a free download of the entire soundtrack. If you like the Senran Kagura universe and like rhythm games, I say check it out. The platinum is a tad grindy. You will need to play at least 200 songs and with only 20-22 songs in the game, you will be playing them quite a bit. Good thing most of the songs are really good. If you just pick this game up and play from time to time, the platinum will come after some time. Platinum Trophies #1-20 Platinum trophy #20 Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3) TL:DR (The short version of my rambling) A great sequel to a great game. The story is better and the characters returning are also improved. However, story pacing is a major issue and I did not like the silent protagonist approach. Though, I do like the protagonist himself as a character. The battle mechanic are essentially the same as the first game. In fact, not alot has changed since the first game and revisiting the old areas which remain unchanged feel a bit lazy The platinum is essentially a grindier version of the first. A few trophies will come naturally while playing the game, but a good chunk will need endgame grinding. I got it in 107 hours according to the play time counter in the game. The Long Story Tales of Xillia 2 is an interesting sequel. They fixed most of the things I complained about the first one, and then broke some things that did not need to be touched. Firstly, I must praise the story of this game because I thought it was fantastic, if not a tad confusing. Overall the story felt more cohesive than the first and the characters were very well written. However my first, and biggest, issue with the game regards the story also...the pacing of the story is incredibly slow. This is because of the new debt repayment aspect of the story. Early on, you end needing to pay off a 20 million glad debt. The debt company will not let you travel to new areas (thus progressing the story) until a certain amount is paid off. This makes the pacing go like this: grind missions to earn gald ->progress story -> do character side stories -> grind missions to earn gald -> and so on. the story is in a constant state of start and stop. My second issue is the new silent protagonist, Ludger. Overall, he is a great character, but I do not like introducing a silent protagonist. Personally, I do not feel more immersed in the game by making dialogue choices. I prefer that the main character just be a written character. Like I am watching a movie/reading a book. Lastly, there are very few new areas in the game. You will mostly retread through the areas of the first game. Mentioned above are really my only complaints with the game. The story, pacing aside, is great, the characters are great(Notable: Neither Elize or Leia annoyed me at any part). Your side kick, Elle, is a very blunt little child, but she is pretty kick ass for a kid and she has a very heartbreaking arc. It is also great to see the characters from the game and see what they have been up to. The battle system is largely the same, except now there is a transformation that Ludger can initiate and make himself powerful. The skits and interaction are more focused on humor, and honestly, there are numerous occasions where I laughed out loud. Overall, this was a great sequel to a great game. I recommend the game if you loved the one. The trophy list is basically the same as the first list except on steroids. Instead of using each characters ability 150 times, now you need to use them 450 times each. Instead of 1350 linked arts, now it's 4050 artes, etc. It is certainly a grindfest. The hardest/grindiest trophy is probably the battle challenges include doing a combo that has each of the 9 elements, or pulling off 9 chain linked artes that includes all of the elements and ends with a mystic arte. According to the in-game timer, I got the platinum at 107 hours Platinum trophy #19 Tales of Xillia (PS3) TL:DR (The short version of my rambling) The game is pretty good. It has some misses with characters and the story, but the story telling itself is very engaging and the lead characters are some of the best. I would recommend this entry if you are new to the "Tales" series and obviously fans of the series will already have played this. The platinum trophy is a bit grindy, but not too bad for a JRPG. It took me about 65 hours. The Platinum requires 2 playthroughs (1 with Jude and 1 with Millia). The game keeps track of all your stats/progress for trophies. The Long Story This entry in Namco's long running RPG series actually leaves me a bit conflicted. I like the game and I had a lot of fun, plus, I look fondly on the game when I think about it. However, when I think a little bit deeper about the story and characters, things start to change in my mind. The story is pretty engaging, but there are A LOT of "plot twists." The game has a multitude of villains/antagonists, but only one at a time. When you defeat the first main villain, oh no, another bad guy is now the central antagonist and doing evil things. The problem with this is that many of them are not mentioned in the plot until they become the central villain. It's like they pop out of thin air. Next, are the characters. The lead protagonists, Jude and Milla, are some the best characters in any game I have played, period. They have strong character arcs and likeable personalities that portray both strength/confidence and struggle/vulnerability. They balance these qualities very well. Also, the chemistry between Milla and Jude is amazing. It falls in between strong friendship and love interest territory. Other party members like Alvin and Rowan are mostly good too. Alvin is a bit iffy at times because he is a rogue through most of the story. The female party members grated on me, though. In context, Elize is a child and has a tragic back story, but she is overly whiny until the end of the game. She goes through a significant growth arc. Leia is annoying and useless in my eyes . Unlike Elize, she does not go through any major character arc or growth. This game also has two scenes with characters that made me cringe. It's only two and both happen at one particular part, but geez, those scenes hurt. (It's the Elize/Leia exchanges in Kanbalar) The platinum trophy is just the right length for a JRPG. It's not 100+ hours. I did it in 65 hours. Grinding only really consisted of the last 6-8 hours. If you work on the trophies that require you to use certain skills a number of times while playing through the story, then the grind time will be even less. I did not do this however...whoops. Raising the shop levels can be tedious and annoying, but it's nothing too bad. The skits and subevents are missable and may require a 2nd or 3rd playthrough to get if you are not using a guide. Actually, you will need a 2nd playthrough of the game with the character story you do not do on your original run. That playthrough goes really quickly with NG+. Overall, the platinum is easy and actually quite short when compared to other JRPGs. Platinum trophy #18 Murdered: Soul Suspect (PS3) This game had a very neat concept. You are a detective, but you are murdered in the opening scene and now you must explore the circumstances of your murder and the serial killings of Salem, Massachusetts. That sounded like a great time. However, this is an instance where a good idea was executed very poorly. This is a boring game. The story is not engaging and nothing makes me want to care about the murders. There are a few legitimate interesting moments, but they are surrounded by filler plots. Also, the game is only about 6-8 hours long. How can you be adding filler to a game that is less than 10 hours long? The investigation is dull, too. The game WILL NOT let you mess up investigating or coming to conclusions. Because almost everything is "consecrated" you cannot pass through objects and it takes the fun out of being a ghost. Demon fighting/stealth section feel out of place and break the flow of the game. Overall, I don't recommend this game. It's a cool idea that is marred by its execution. Maybe a rental if you REALLY want to try it out. The platinum is simply a collect-a-thon. Collect all the collectibles around Salem and then beat the game. The platinum is easy and the game is short so if you want a quick platinum then this is one. Get yourself a guide (which the game actually came with if you bought it) because the wall paintings are completely hidden with no indication that they are there. Platinum trophy #17 Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (Vita) This game left me conflicted. It's still Danganronpa and most everything from the first game is left intact.. Minor changes are made here and there, like to the mini-games played during the trial sections, but they still "feel" the same. The new additions, however, all seem pointless. Take the new pets feature, for instance. Now you can raise an in-game Tomogachi pet. Why? I don't know. It doesn't do anything. You now have a level and can increase it by walking around and investigating objects. Raising your level allows you to have more skill points that you can use to do various things during the trials. You get these skills by collecting hope fragments from hanging out with the other characters. However, there is very little time to hang out with them because the story needs to keep moving forward and you most likely won't get any skills through your main game play (assuming you don't replay chapters). So, then what is the point of my level, if I can't get skills that would use the skill points I get from leveling? NONE, THERE IS NO POINT! Almost every new inclusion serves little to no purpose. The new characters also much less charming than the previous entry. There are some great characters (Ibuki, Chiaki, Sonia, Kazuichi), but there were a quite a few that I hoped would end up as the victim/murderer. One last thing, the ending of the story is insane...and not in a good way. One complaint I had in the first game was that the last chapter had way too many plot twists and felt like it was trying to surprise the player more than try to tell a good story. It's even worse in this game. That's all I will say. Overall, this is still a good game and I fun with it because the main game play is still Danganronpa. However, if I get a Danganronpa itch in the future, I am going to go to the first game, not this one. At the time of writing, I don't see myself coming back to this game. The platinum is very similar to the first game. The new inclusions to DR2 make the platinum more grindy, and I already felt that the first game's platinum was a bit too grindy. You will need to raise a pet of each type, get to level 99, view all the scenes and purchase them in the gallery, find hidden collectibles, etc. Also, school mode is back (called island mode here). It is just as tedious and monotonous as it was in the first game. Magical Girl Monomi is a new action/arcade side game and it's alright. But you must collect ALL of the equipment which is, again, tedious and monotonous because there are only 6 stages and 60 pieces of equipment that are randomized. Lastly, I especially recommend not going for the platinum immediately after playing the first game. Since the list are so similar, YOU WILL BURN OUT! Platinum trophy #16 Atelier Totori Plus -The Adventurer of Arland- (Vita) This was my first completed Atelier game...and I LOVED IT!!! While frustrating at times because of the time limit constantly hovering over you; the story, characters, and core game play are just amazing. The event time limits are not TOO strict, but you need to have good time management or events will pass you by. I think it is pretty well balanced. The story is good (not great) but it is the characters themselves that kept me wanting to stay in the story. Character development is handled very well, especially with Totori. The art style is also amazing. The hand drawn art style is so nice to look at. The Vita's OLED screen also enhanced the style. I can gush all day about the game, but here is my simple opinion. CHECK IT OUT!!! It's not for everyone, but at least check out the series in some way. I would recommend this as a good starting point for newcomers who are jumping into the Arland trilogy of games, even though its the second game in a trilogy. The story of Rorona (The first in the Arland trilogy) is not necessary to enjoy the game and Rorona is harsher with its time limits. The platinum can be done in one run, but I recommend 2. Enjoy the story on play 1 and get a feel for the game and you will also realize that the time limit is not as strict as it seems. The end has a lot of open time to catch up. If you are going for the platinum, get a guide that explains how to achieve each of the 10 endings. You can only trigger one ending per run through (so save at the last year and just reload that save to achieve each different ending. Not a hard platinum if you watch events carefully. The most nerve racking thing is to accidentally triggering a character's point of no return and being stuck on activating that ending. Use a guide and you will be fine. Just enjoy the story! Platinum trophy #15 Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension (PS3) This was a pretty decent game. I like the show and the game captures the show's humor pretty well. The actual game play and platforming is functional. It's nothing special, but it works. The dialogue is faithful to the show and it follows the movie, "Across the 2nd Dimension" pretty well. It has multiple selectable characters for 6 worlds with varying amounts levels. It is a family game so it is very easy. If you are a fan of the show, I would recommend a rental. The platinum requires you to collect all the collectibles essentially. The collecting.is not that bad, but there is some randomness to getting tickets from the mini games. It can be a bit tedious, but overall, its an easy game with an easy platinum. Platinum trophy #14 Hatsune Miku Project DIVA f (Vita) Such a fun rhythm game. The songs were catchy and the visuals were really nice. However, the background videos could at time be too much and hurt my eyes and obscure out the button prompts. I did, however, enjoy loading up the "watch video" function and just watching the background movies. The platinum trophy requires playing through all of the songs on normal and hard and also interacting with all of the character in a weird social sim portion of the game. The platinum is not too challenge but is not a gimme and the game is just fun. If you like rhythm games, then check this out. Platinum trophy #13 Terminator Salvation (PS3) Well...this was a game. A very mediocre game, but it was a game. It's an easy platinum and the game is not horrible. It just is not a lot of fun. Platinum Trophy #12 CSI: Fatal Conspiracy (PS3) Another point and click game based on a television series. This game had a nice connected story, but the game is very tedious. Matching DNA, getting fingerprints, and other evidence gather are done through little mini games that quickly become annoying. Again, maybe a rent if you have absolutely nothing else to play. The platinum is mostly story related, but there are some other ones that require you to gather evidence or do an interrogation without any mistakes. Just get a guide for these part and do the actual crime solving part on your own to most get the most amount of fun. Platinum trophy #11 The Walking Dead (Vita) This game is mostly story driven and operates like a point and click game when not in a cutscene. Platinum trophy #10: NCIS Game (PS3) This point and click game based on the TV show was actually quite fun. The platinum is is gained for simply playing through the game. If you need to kill a day, then perhaps rent it Platinum trophy #9 Xblaze Code: Embryo (Vita) It's a visual novel! The game gives backstory to the events going on in the BlazBlue Fighting games. It's alright, but this game has little to no interaction (even for a visual novel). The special gag route is pretty funny though. The platinum is kind of tedious because it requires the player to see all the endings, and get all scenes and tips. You can fast forward the text on later playthroughs. It gets tedious after a while but it's not too bad. I liked the game, but I have played better visual novel games. Platinum trophy #8 Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (Vita) How would i describe this game? It's like Persona meets Ace Attorney. There are murders and mysteries and lives at stake. It's a great story with some great characters and nice game play. I'm glad to see a sequel coming out! I really recommend the game! This platinum is actually really grindy. After beating the main game, you unlock school mode which is a drastic change of gameplay style. It is a resource collecting game and you need it to build things. there are no murders or mysteries here and you need to complete every character's ending in this mode. Worst of all, you probably won't get any endings in your first playthoughs because you aren't a high enough level. The platinum was really annoying, but the main game is great. Platinum trophy #7 Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection (Vita) I don't know what to say for this game. It is an idol sim that I thought I would not like much and only got because it was Hyperdimension Neptunia. My initial thoughts were completely wrong. I LOVED THIS GAME!!! The game focuses mostly on the interactions between the player and the idol and these characters are great! The writing has such a great sense of humor and i really developed a liking for each idol. The actual concert parts are not that great but the in-between time is great. The platinum trophy is not hard, but very tedious. You will need to see all of the endings and see every scene with every idol. Unfortunately certain scenes trigger randomly. The game keeps track of how many you've seen, but there is no way to see which specific scenes you are missing and with the random factor, you could be there looking for one scene for a LONG time. Platinum trophy #6 Heavy Rain (PS3) In my opinion, this is one of the best interactive story games. Your choices actually have weight and consequences. Choices you make could end up getting yourself or another character killed. The murder mystery is compelling and the characters are generally likable. theer are some heavy emotions and grisly scenes, but its is a great game that I would recommend. To get the platinum you will have to playthrough the game multiple times to get all of the ending and do chapter-specific stuff. Admittedly, this game manages to avoid being tedious better than any of the others on my list. Platinum trophy #5 Virtue's Last Reward (Vita) I cannot say how much I loved this game. I missed entire week of classes to play this. Yes,I almost ruined my life to play this game. Worth it? YES! (warning: this is a joke and I do not condone skipping school to play video games, stay in school kids!) The game is a sequel to the game 9 Hours Persons 9 Doors on the DS, but you don't need to have played that one to understand the story here. This is a puzzle/point and click visual novel with, what I believe, to be the best story. I seriously cannot express how deep and compelling the story is. It is a very dark and twisted story that sometimes gets a bit overly complicated, but it works well over all. If you are reading this, PLAY THIS GAME!!! The platinum trophy is earned by just getting to the end of the game. The only missable trophy is not completeing the game on hard. On hard mode the character just do not give you hints, but that's it. Platinum trophy #4 Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) This was a interesting change of pace from Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2. It is more action oriented and the battle system is a variation of the paradigm system form the previous entries. The story somehow actually became even worse than XIII-2 though. It is SOOOO heavy handed here. Regardless, it was a fun game that I enjoyed, but I am glad to finally put an end to the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy with this game. The platinum trophy is pretty easy, overall. There is one secret boss that can be pretty difficult but other than that, it is just get through the game and collect/upgrade armor. You can't upgrade gear until NG+ so it will take multiple playthroughs. Platinum trophy #3 L.A. Noire (PS3) This is one of my favorite games. I love mysteries and I like film noires, so this game is tailored for me. The story is really good, the characters are all great, the setting is great. It's just great! The best feature of the game is its atmosphere. There is just so much detail in the environments, the people, the cars, everything just sets the atmosphere so well. The mysteries are intriguing and the over arching story is very compelling. My only gripe is the ending which is really forced. For the longest time, I would have said this is my favorite game. The platinum is grindy because you must search the whole of Los Angeles for film cannisters and cars. there are a total of 95 cars and I believe 45 canisters. Those were the most boring part of the game. The remaining trophies require you to collect 95% of evidence and to 5 star rating on each case. Platinum trophy #2 Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3) This game improved on everything I disliked about the original Final fantasy XIII. It's not as linear anymore, the paradigm system is a bit more refined and the lead characters are not as annoying. You will meet all of the characters form the original game, but they are just small cameos for the most part. My only gripe is the story. I found Final fantasy XIII's story to be a bit overly complicated, but XIII-2 takes this to a new level. It is almost stupidly complicated and makes very little sense. Metal Gear Solid, this is not. The platinum trophy for this game is WAY less grindy and easier than its predecessor. You will get most of them by just going through the story, collecting everything, and beating the super bosses. Pretty basic JRPG platinum. Platinum trophy #1 Beyond: Two Souls (PS3) Ehhh.... This game is alright. The story telling is a mess and the acting is a bit phoned in from supporting characters, but I can't say I did not have any fun because There are moments where the game is actually fun, but then it gets marred by something. It's usually the story-telling. This game offers a lot of choice, but these choice have no weight. They only affect a scene or two in the game. The overall outcome of the story will be the same with the exception of a player choice at the very end of the game. I found this very disappointing. If you want to play an "interactive drama" game then play Heavy Rain. The platinum is actually pretty tedious. You need to see each of the endings which requires 5 playthroughs of the last stage. Each chapter has some collectibles that you need to find and overall going for the platinum felt like a test in tedium. It's not hard though... 100% PSN Games (Games without Platinum Trophies) #1- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (PS3) #2- Sonic the Fighters (PS3) #3- The Walking Dead: Season 2 (PS3) #4- Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded (PS3) #5- Sonic CD (PS3) #6- Back to the Future Episode 1: It's About Time (PS3) Edited April 20, 2016 by Light_of_Yes

Light_of_Yes
Updated with #19- Tales of Xillia. I also added a TL:DR (Too Long; Didn't Read) section to my write up. that way you can get a very condensed version of my essay/journey entry of a write-up. Now it no longer feels like reading an academic essay...who likes those?
