FALLOUT: SHADOW OF BOSTON

But a Japanese dev did make their own Skyrim. It's called Dragon's Dogma, and it's amazing.

Actually yeah, Fallout: Shadows would sound cooler. I guess they would put the name of the city in there to let everyone know? Kinda like Fallout: New Vegas.

I wouldn't compare Skyrim and DD,

DD is so much better, but since it's an entire different game, it shouldn't be compared.

Despite DD being labeled an open world game, but it actually feels more like a lineair game, because the game itself isn't that big.

Untill you unlock fast travel, it's mainly walking or running away you're doing :P

I always thought of them as similar games. I wouldn't call DD linear, but it definitely has a smaller map than Skyrim. But, both games offer free roam in their open world right from the start. Once you leave the prison in Skyrim, you can go anywhere you like. Same thing in DD. Once you leave Cassardis, you can go anywhere you like. Yes, both games have a quest they want you to follow, but nothing is stopping you from exploring the world first.

As for fast travel, yes you're right. But the same can be said about Skyrim. If I recall correctly (been awhile since I played) but you can't actually fast travel anywhere until you discover the location? You can only fast travel to the set locations on the map, as opposed to DD where you can set your own fast travels spots, and move them around freely.

I'm actually starting with a new playthrough in 10 minutes :P

I agree that it some level of open world, despite the smaller map. However, I remember the game being extremely difficult at times, brutal difficult, in some areas.

Resulting in me fleeing and following a very lineair structure, despite doing a few sidequests, untill I was strong enough to survive those areas. Roaming new areas and surviving was often the results of a quest and a certain level you were expected to have.

Oh yeah. The game's enemies don't level with you, so it can be pretty dangerous to explore freely. But it does make for some fun moments. Like taking the low level escort quests to Shadow Fort, only to run into a Drake lol.
