GizMo_The_Great
I've only played the game for an hour or two, so I'm unsure if there's a better way to discover items that are underwater. but I made a video showing how to allow access to the discovery tool whilst underwater. greenkaos1226
Before the first patch it allowed you to use it underwater but I found using the landscape tool and then flatten and raising the ground up which will put any animals or things below on solid land for you to discover. This is what I do, I basically just use flatten on everything possible. It's more predictable than raise/lower... and faster.
Hrafn254
when you change your character into a skeleton or a zombie, you can walk on the seabed and use the discovery tool as if you were on land.

Yup, I used this info as well and it works. Also of course with a swamp creature too, helps with getting seaweed, clams and other things from the water, as well as sharks and other sea creatures.
