About Ship-Launched Fighters

I've noticed the trophy for launching 25 fighters from your ship is pretty rare and it really shouldn't be, because if you know what I know, you'll know the following ships can install Fighter Hangers:

  • Anaconda: costs 146,969,451 credits
  • Beluga Liner: costs 84,532,780 credits
  • Type-9 Heavy: costs 76,555,842 credits
  • Imperial Cutter: costs 208,969,451 credits, also requires rank of Duke in the Empire
  • Federal Gunship: costs 35,658,297 credits, also requires rank of Ensign in the Federation
  • Federal Corvette: costs 187,969,450 credits, also requires rank of Rear Admiral in the Federation
  • Keelback: costs only 3,126,150 credits, no rank requirements needed anywhere

Every CMDR should already know to head to the Elite: Dangerous Database to find a particular ship and module for sale near them.

Might consider the gunship, it already has lots of guns, a fighter as well could really bring the pain.

Federal Gunship's one of the slowest ships in the game and turns like a pig. You'd have to keep your nose pointed at what you're fighting all the time and hope your fighter can keep anyone else busy. I'd probably do something similar to this if I was going to do a Gunship with a Fighter Hangar. A class 6D hangar should let you launch two fighters at once (if you have another player in multi-crew with you).

So I followed your advice & bought a Keelback, fighter bay, fighter & pilot. Then flew out of the no-fire zone and deployed/recalled the fighter with pilot 31 times, but no trophy.

So what am I doing wrong? I assume 'deploy' is the same as 'launch', since there is no other choice. Tne trophy doesn;t say anything about shooting anyone whilst deployed, so what gives?

from reading a number of different psn forums, it seems this trophy maybe glitched and will unlock at a random number. I've been keeping count of mine and I have currently done 35 and still no trophy.

FDev plays fast and loose with the requirements, and trophies are just about the last thing on their minds. Wait til you find out that even though you need to drive up to a thousand miles in your SRV, stats in game are tracked by the metric system, so you need to drive however many kilometers a thousand miles is. Elite's not really one of those games you bean count your way to trophies for. It's more like you'll be doing your thing one day, hear a mysterious ding, and say "Tro...fee??? What is...tro-fee???" If you're concerned, take your Keelback mining, it's got a face only a miner could love. Outfit it like a self-escorting mining ship, take it into a Resource Extraction Site, launch your fighter, and let it do its thing while you mine. You need to do a substantial amount of mining anyway, so combine the two tasks.

I've just spent 3 hours launching the ship over and over and over again, averaging 1 launch per minute, still nothing. How long can it possibly be ? For those who got the trophy, how the hell did you pull that off ?

EDIT : finally got it this morning on my first launch ! It popped when I deployed the ship myself (not using a NPC), but I don't know if it has anything to do with it (overall I've been deploying the ship myself definitely more than 25 times). I rather suspect that the actual number is 250 times, either with yourself or a NPC, but again I can't be sure.
