He isn't paying, he is talking of the US thing that gives you psn credit based on your earned trophies (10 plats = $10, and there's something for gold and silver too). There's a thread about that floating somewhere.. So, effectively trophies have a monetary value by Sony actions.. Said that the value of trophies mainly refer to in this thread isn't the monetary kind (ya, things can have non-monetary value.. not everything is about money, you know?)
