Ehe-heh-hehe, the series lives!

I remember being so sad when Irem stopped being a game developer and the original ZZT4 for PS3 got cancelled... Kudos to Granzella for keeping the legacy alive.

Agree completely, the release was so close & I was so excited about it then what followed left me with a sense of loss. It's taken some time for Granzella to get going but it's amazing to see them now with real products out and in development. I'm giving it a few more months to see if City Shrouded in Shadow is gonna get picked up for an English release, if not it'll be time to look for a Japanese copy that doesn't cost $90. It's pretty exciting to have two games like this to look forward to!

Interesting. I'm not familiar with this series (and looking at the covers of the earlier games don't remember seeing them on the shelves). It looks a little depressing.

I wouldn't say that, it was certainly depressing when the 4th game was cancelled so close to release though!

They're really unique & special games. You're wandering around areas that are falling apart/flooding/bursting into flames right in front of you and when the framerate drops heavily it's more like something that enhances dramatic tension as opposed to a technical issue. A good part of the games are spent with a partner but it's not annoying like escort missions can be. The player character doesn't really do anything violent, I remember a boss fight where you have to take down a helicopter with a fire hose but that's the closest it got. There are branching paths and different endings, dialogue choices that can be pretty amusing sometimes & the english versions have the added bonus of blonde hair for all the characters (haha). I can't think of anything exactly like these games, they really stood out from the thousands of other ps2 titles.
