zeit86geist Posted February 6, 2018 Share Posted February 6, 2018 first: i've never really played rpgs esp. jrpgs. i was half trough FFIX on ps3 and then i've somehow lost interest... nevertheless, persona 5 is currently on sale for 30€ and i've thought i may give it a try. how hard is it to start with p5 for a rookie. is the combat tricky? how long does the plat. take? again: i've never really played (j)rpgs before but this game looks hype! The Persona games (or at least the 2 I have played) involve a lot of downtime which leads to the dungeon. So if you are not into character development and lots of story/dialog it may not be for you. That being said the characters and story are great and I am not one who says that a lot (All though Persona 4 is much better)/ The fighting mechanics are pretty straight forward where enemies have different weakness and strengths and you work from that. Redgrave Posted February 7, 2018 Share Posted February 7, 2018 It was my first Persona game so I can safely say that you can get into the game with a bit of a learning curve early on. The real thing to do is be time efficient which can be hard to do at first but the more you play the more you'll figure out how to manage the time better. As far as the combat it's not that bad even if you're not really into or play JRPG's with turn-based combat. If anything the combat gets easier when you start using enemy weaknesses which allow you to get extra turns. Since you'll have to do two playthroughs for the Platinum anyway, your first playthrough is better off being used on figuring out the time management and getting as much Personas as you can.
