Phantochi and the Crisis on Infinite Trophies

Hey, thanks for stopping by, i took a break from trophy hunting, now i'm coming back to it and decide to make a new checklist so i can track my progress, organize what i want to do next, write some reviews, and rant about my lack of skill bullshit in some games.

A little about me, i started playing video games when i was about 10, i was walking down the street with my mom, minding my bussiness and my ice-cream, then i looked to the side and saw some kids playing MK on a local arcade, and all of a sudden, Sub Zero rips the spinal cord of a scrub while laughing his ass off, and that the coolest thing i've seen, next day i was there getting my ass kicked on Ultimate MK 3, Tekken 5, SF Third Strike, Soul Calibur 2, and i pretty much played only Fighting games in arcades until i got my old ps3, that i bought just to play fighting games such as Tekken 6, Soul Calibur 5, and Mortal Kombat 9 at home. But thanks to fighting games becoming more like scam games, i started trying some new stuff out, and i've been trophy hunting since then.. Kinda.

I don't really have a favorite genre, if a game pick my interest, i'll play, even sports game

I have a lot of unstarted games, and a lot of games that i dropped for whatever reason, i'll slowly go back for those just to bump my overall completion, i think i can get at least to 80% since i have a lot games under 50%, and for unstarted games my plan is to get at least an A Rank in case i don't enjoy the game, but we'll see. I will regularly update this thread with a review of each game that i play, just don't take those too serious mmkay.

Also, feel free to throw any feedback, suggestions, criticism... whatever.

Goals for 2023:

  • 70% completion
  • Get at least an A Rank for games i won't go for the platinum
  • Less than 5,500 unearned trophies
  • 300 platinums

The game looked butt ugly compare to the arcade version, bad balance, lame newcomers, bad netcode, awful character endings, you couldn't rank past certain point in offline mode, fuck Bob, scenario campaign was the worst decision ever, and the story became almost ununderstandable at this point.

A TPS everyone should experience. Spec Ops wants you to see that war is not glamorous, awesome, or fun. It wants you to see the terrible toll that combat demands from those who experience it. And above all, it wants you to see that in real conflict, there are no "good guys" and "bad guys," the reality, is that the world is full of gray areas. War is hell, and it never changes. Anyone who goes in, will either join the fortunate dead...or will have to learn to live with what they've done to survive.

One of my favorite games of all time. Suda and Mikami, alongside Akira on the soundtrack, comes with a game featuring bizarre visuals, a badass mexican, a fantastic soundtrack, some weird and strange narratives and side stories. This game is like a super stylized mixture of Silent Hill, Resident Evil 4, and The Evil Dead movies, even a level is titled 'As Evil As Dead'.

Rated T mortal Kombat game, lot of bugs and exploits that made the game broken for competitive and online play, story mode was nothing more than a what if scenario, no way to break the chain attacks of a spammer, pretty janky when it comes to physics, extremely unpolished and light on content.

New NRS at their prime. Slow walk speed, unblockable interactables, clash is the worst defensive comeback mechanic ever, typical dial-a-combo system,  this game's balance is a joke, wonder Woman, my favorite hero on the DCU got butchered harder than Batman and Superman combined, etc. When you get booed at your first year at Evo by your own community, you know you've got a great future ahead of you.

Remake 3 is in a tough spot, it will be compared not only to Resident evil 3 original but also to Resident evil 2 remake, Those are two titan size shoes to fill. What carries Remake 3 is Jill, you can actually see the human side in her now, everything she's been through in spencer mansion, is there inside her mind, and the game does a great job showing it. And what do you get besides Jill? lots of removed locations and nearly all puzzles from the original that were replaced by nothing, and a sorry ass scripted Nemesis, they dropped the ball on Nemesis, such a waste of potential.

I'm finally done with Street Fighter V, it's not a hard platinum, but takes a long ass time, feels like i put over a thousand hours in survival mode only.

If you’ve slept on Street Fighter V, then now’s the time to get in on it. It got it's share of flaws, thanks to Capcom's greedy, but at this point in the game's life span, almost every criticism has been addressed and improved upon. This is the most accessible, most inviting of all Street Fighter games for newcomers and intermediate players. Yet, it is still challenging and technical enough that seasoned players can still consistently win at a high level of play.

It also has a lot of single player content for people like me that just want to hit buttons and beat up the CPU, like an arcade mode, cinematic story, individual character stories, extra battle, survival, demonstrations/tutorials, combo trial challenges, and a great training mode.

I don't know what i'll play next, so many unfinished stuff, guess i'll pick 6 games on my list with the lowest percentage and throw a D6.

What's up Don, thanks, it's back again, and this time i'll stick with it, i'll just keep playing for fun and see if i can reach some objectives along the way.

Damn, man, over 9000 games? you're almost like ikemenzi at that point, good luck with that.

lol, not even close, but i have a lot tho, on the ps4 library i have exactly 1010 games, and most of those i never even installed, and probably never will, i'm trying to play one game at a time and not start a game from scratch until i have at least 80% completion, but it's hard

my backlog is also impossible to complete, and my profile is messed up by a series of games with unobtainable trophies etc, so nowadays I try not to care too much about the percentage, but at the same time it is interesting to try to play as much as possible from my list.

Yeah, same here, but where you're sitting is a good middle ground, i feel like over 90% you kinda keep in your mind that you have to finish every game that you play and you'll ended up playing shit that you don't enjoy because of that, skipping because of difficulty or unobtainable trophies, or even playing games that don't really pick your interest just to keep the completion high, on 80% you have a little more freedom to drop some games, but at the same time you can't start a new game, play for 5 minutes and start a new one right after, which is mainly what i'm trying to avoid.

Just when I wished you luck on SFV you went ahead and snatched the plat within a blink of an eye, so congrats on that. A fine one to the collection indeed.

lol, thanks, i didn't expected it to take so long to be honest, and i had no idea this game was sitting at 1% rarity, part 4 is waaaay harder and it's almost the same rarity, but yeah, feels good to knock out an ultra rare every now and then.

Update Time!

  • I got the plat for Darksiders 3, and that game sucks, do not buy it, stay away, even if you're a fan of the first 2 games. They fucked up the combat system, there's no loot, no armor, no skill tree, no climbing and parkour, no puzzles, no open world map or even a minimap, the difficulty is weird, the best combo is done by spamming square, no invincibility frames during dodge, a very intricate upgrade system that consists of add 4 damage to your weapon, a very intricate skill system that consists of 3 skills, the movements are the clunkiest i've seen in a AAA game, a story so blank it could be Siberia, no side quests, no interesting npc's, etc. This game is not Darksiders. It's nothing more than a terrible Souls clone. It's not even well put together.

26th May 2021  Platinum in 1 year, 4 months

  • I went back to Dying Light to finish the story and get ready for part 2, i didn't liked the game that much, but now that all i'm doing is running around killing zombies and looting random stuff, it grew on me, don't know why but this constantly happens to me, i'm playing a game and not liking it that much but when i finish the campaign and start playing for fun and to clean trophies i always ended up liking it more, does this happens to anyone else? Anyway, i'm almost done with it, i finished the campaign, all sidequests and all of the multiplayer stuff, now i just need to get all collectibles and do some miscellaneous like Kill 100 enemies by kicking them off the rooftops, etc.

  • On the Days of Play sale i bought Yakuza 0 & 6, now i have the entire collection, i'm thinking about starting a series as soon as a hit 80% and Yakuza may be the one, but which one should i start with? my guess is that 0 is the first one, but i don't know for sure, i never played a Yakuza game.

  • I made a slight progress on DMC4, still a long road ahead, but i'm getting there, i'm finishing everything with Vergil then i just need to go back and get a Rank S for every mission, i'll probably do it with Vergil, he's the coolest of the bunch imo, but if it gets too hard, maybe i'll jump for the girls, since everyone says it's easier to get Rank S with them.

  • I'm still trying to get some trophies in Fall Guys, but i don't know if i'll get to level 40 in this season. How a popular indie game like this have such a trash server is beyond me, i literally can't finish a show, this game had everything to be the next Fortnite, but they let it die.

  • I've joined the Summer 2021 Backlog Challenge, i'll be playing Anthem, FFVII Remake, One Piece Unlimited World Red, GTA Vice City, Extinction, GTA San Andreas, RE Revelations 2 and Darksiders Warmastered Edition for the event, so those will be my main games for a while, but i'll keep playing others on the side like Fall guys, Dying Light and DMC4.

  • I just submitted a guide for Warriors Orochi 4, it's my first guide ever, since it's a niche game not much people will see it, but it's something i've been meaning to do for a long time, mostly as a "giving something back to the community" type of thing, and i'm happy i'd finally did it.

That's about it for me, what is everybody playing now?

I'm putting off going back to dying light because I didn't like it much either so hopefully I end up like you and enjoying it more when cleaning up, it wasn't bad but after getting through the story I was just done with it.

I want to go through the Yakuza series at some point as well and not sure to start with 0 or Kiwami, I've seen people say 0 so you can follow the story in order but I kind of want to play them in the order they were released, I won't be starting them for ages though because I know they're a big time commitment.

Maybe Dying Light has the same thing as Dead Island, you have to play on co-op to get the full experience, but definitely give it another try, the game improves a lot when you're just running around killing zombies for fun, and you're pretty close to get the platinum too.

Yeah, every Yakuza game takes over 100 hours, and all of them require an additional playthrought on NG+, so maybe that's why?! Anyway, i'll probably throw a coin for Yakuza 0 & Kiwami, i heard some people saying to start with 0 due to being a prequel and showing more of the characters background, and others saying to start with Kiwami because 0 is superior overall so following up 0 with Kiwami will be pretty disappointing, so i don't know.

Alright, change of plans, if i only play old backlog games i'll go crazy. The very word backlog makes gaming feel like a chore to me. I'll stop thinking about backlog, sure, i'll go back to games that i dropped every now and then, specially when i'm doing a community event like the Summer Backlog Challenge, but i'll play "new" games more often. I was just thinking about backlog now and i found out that i have a backlog of movies, books, music, comics, etc. Fuck that, if i don't stop thinking like that I'll never do anything productive again.

With that being said, i've just started Yakuza 0. I was lurking in the A-Z Platinum Club, and the only letter i'm missing is Y, and i've been meaning to give a shot to the series for a long time, hopefully i'll enjoy it enough to go for the platinum, seems like it's a long one.

Yakuza 0 First impressions

Soaked myself in for about 5 hours last night. Not realising it didn't auto save and you have to use the phone boxes. Yikes.

I honestly didn't expected this game to be this great, and funny...  So far, my favorite thing about it are the substories, they are so much fun, and give a nice change of pace for the game. You finish a serious story mission involving murderers, snitches, and Yakuza bosses trying to kill you, and right after that you're on the streets teaching a dominatrix how to do her job properly, scouting Michael Jackson through a zombie apocalypse, etc. I've done about 30 of them so far, and they've been all extremely funny and diverse, and the most interesting thing about side missions, is that they are not dubbed, you have to read the whole thing, and somehow, it's awesome, but can you imagine how would it be if everything in this game was voice acted? daaamn.

The first few chapters in the game are pretty linear, and the game has an incredible immersion that keeps you involved with the characters and everything going on around them, but once the game begins to let you off the rails and you can explore, that's when it gets really, REALLY good, so instead of going straight from point A to B, you can always explore around and immerse yourself in the city, and while you do so, you always come across something to do, or a new sidequest, i can't stress enough how brilliant and completely bat-shit they are at times.

I'm enjoying the combat as well, its rewarding once you dive into it, especially once you unlock different combat styles and skills.

There's only a couple of things that i don't enjoy, like the cameraman that wants me to die, and anytime you get knocked down, a prompt will appear telling you to mash the X button. If you do this, you will have mashed the X button, nothing else happens, on that same note, QTEs are not my favorite thing in general but i especially hate having them in the middle of a fight. Every time it comes up i'm already pressing a different button for one of my combos.

So far, it's been a weird game that balances the line between completely serious and completely bonkers, can't wait to keep digging my way through the game.

Nice to hear that you’re enjoying Yakuza 0. Your backlog - while huge, contains some serious gems imo. Nioh 2, that has to be one of my favorite games of all time, if you enjoyed Nioh 1 you will definitely like the second one! Ghost of Tsushima is also fantastic. Also cool to see that you’re not shying away from racing games. Like you I’ll also do I am Bread at some point - I’ve always dreamed of being a flying sandwich.

What's up Don, Nioh 2 is definitely in the horizon, the first one is easily one of my favorites when it comes to souls like games, i'm planning on doing the dlc's on the first one before going for part 2, so it may take me a while.

When it comes to racing games i've been playing some different games out like the Dirt series, NFS, The Crew 2, and i want to hop into sims soon, the one i've been eyeballing for a while is Assetto Corsa, you told me that it's one of the hardest in the genre, so it would be a good one to practice my sim skills out and eventually get better, but if you know another one that's noob friendly and still gives some challenge let me know, btw did you used a racing wheel or is it possible on the ps4 pad?

From what i heard, we'll never eat Bread again after the sandwich simulator, you're killing the Meat boy so a Bread will be nothing to you, but that game looks kinda scary to me, not gonna lie

Nioh 1’s DLC contents trophies are fun. Way of the Demon difficulty can be a bit tough without a good build but with a solid one it’s much more manageable. As for Nioh 2, it’s like Nioh 1 but just better, they didn’t change everything up and abandoned what made Nioh good but rather just keep the same formula and improved upon it.

DIRT is a good series, DIRT Rally 1 is another gem I think you’ll enjoy. The trophies are also nice unlike other racing games it doesn’t require insane amount of grinding but rather offer some skill based trophies.

Assetto Corsa is really hard whether you use a pad or a wheel, there’s no way around but it’s manageable with a DS4 with enough practice. Also one thing that makes a huge difference is adjusting the setup, DS4 settings and turning stability control on for pad users, there are YouTube guides for that to make it much easier nowadays. While I personally used a wheel I’ve seen other ppl do the special events with a pad, I also did some of the harder ones with a pad myself after getting the plat just for fun, surprisingly they were easier the second time around with a pad since I knew every braking point and throttle+braking management plus having a good setup. Setup is everything in Assetto but very hard nevertheless.

I am Bread will be another challenging one I’d imagine, I guess once we’ve played it we start hallucinating about the sandwich we are eating flying out of our plates. Might just stick to rice and potatoes after that! I am having lots of fun with SMB. Those no death runs will kick my ass but I’m improving thankfully.

**Small update**

  • There's not much to update, besides playing Yakuza 0, i've been making progress in a lot of games for the Summer Backlog Challenge, next week i'll try to finish Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Darksiders while still making minor progress in the other games.

  • I bought a few more games that were recommended to me, including Project Cars 2, Night in the Woods, Never Alone, Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, Moons of Madness, Digimon Cyber Sleuth, and Tokyo Xanadu eX+, i just wish i had the time to play them all..

f0fz41i4dkq51.jpg (960×720)

Also, i want to rant about fall guys, i was just playing that trash and i'm done with it, i'm bad at the game, so this is a scrub ranting.

  1. First of all, Team games full of potatoes are frustrating as fuck. I see a lot of people defending the team games, and i think they just get really lucky and don't get THAT team in the games.
  2. Why is my tail getting grabbed across the map?! Actually, Grabbing is bad, i don't like grabbing, even though it's part of the game, i still don't like it, peps grab you from miles away, and the worst is that, somehow, they grab you right before you jump, i probably died over a thousand times during Jump showdown because someone grabbed me right before my jump. Stop grabbing my ass.
  3. Player stampedes suck, it's totally luck based and annoying. Wrong side of the starting platform or at the back of the crowd? Quit and search for a new show because that's a death sentence, and i won't even talk about slime climb when there are 40 people. Also, to the dude in Slime Climb who stands on the yellow beam and knocks people off into the slime: what the fuck is wrong with you?
  4. And i won't even mention inputs failing to register, lost connections, servers error when you're about to win, unable to grab tails, afk team players, missing rewards, etc. Good job Mediatonic, good job.

Here's how my progress in the game looks like, i can't and won't even try to progress any further than this

I loved the music, the story, the locaions just everything in this game was great. You will definetely love this! And FG can be a bitch. I had the same issues the enemy could always grab me miles away -.-

That's good to hear, besides the Trail series, i'm not very familiar with Nihon Falcom but apparently they're are one of the greatest when it comes to rpg's, so i'll definitely check it out at some point.

No kidding, Fall Guys is one of the most rage inducing games i'd played on ps4. Not even the 12 year old kids yelling and tea-bagging me on COD made me rage as much as this game. Never again.

Me neither can you recommend the Cold Steel series? I heard a lot of praise about the series but never had the chance or time to check them out.

For me personally I enjoyed the game (most of the part) but only because I played it with friends becauseI know it's always frustrating to play team based games with randoms even in CoD I was never a fan of TDM etc.

Oh yeah, Trails is a series that does extremely well in terms of world and character building, the world doesn't revolves around you just because you're the protagonist, it's a living world that happens off-screen and you are a part of it, and pretty much every npc has something to say about where they live and the recent events that are going on around them. The games are also all interconnected, so it leads to a large amount of characters, world development and overarching plots. Just be ready for the cliffhanger endings, pretty much every game in the Trail series ends on a climax that leads into the next game.

Cold Steel is a good one to start with since the whole series is available on ps4, but if you have the chance, try out Trails in the Sky, you can get it on PC, and that's a masterpiece imo.

I played Fall Guys solo, and the first few hours i laughed my ass off playing that game, but that fun factor quickly went downhill, they dropped the ball with the game, but maybe with friends i wouldn't rage as much.

Fall guys doesn't make me angry but I get bored really fast playing it, because of the infallible exploit I feel like I don't have an excuse to not get the plat now though so I just play it for 30 minutes at a time to work towards the last couple trophies when I don't feel like playing anything else.

It's been a long time since I played it but I remember really enjoying Never Alone, only takes a few hours to get through as well.

I got infallible using the exploit as well, if it wasn't for that, i would still be sitting at 1 win that i got thanks to the tail bug, i was just running after the dude with tail at the final and when the match ended his tail teleported to my ass and i'd won. Besides all the problems that i think the game has, i suck really bad at it, so i won't even try getting the rest of the trophies, but best of luck to you.

From what i heard, Never Alone is another one of those beautiful and short indie games that make you cry, i always see it getting praise online on some randoms indie games lists, but it doesn't get much love around here, probably because it doesn't offer a platinum.

Time for the weekly update, i will do one of these every friday since friday is a chill day for me, but again, not much action this week:

- Finally got the 100% on BF1, and what a ride, one of the best shooters i've ever played, The campaign, contrary to popular opinion, is actually pretty good, it allows you to play different characters in separate War Stories, each with their own, intriguing story revolving around the first Great War, all these characters are made up but are made to fit the historical accuracy of the game, and the gameplay isn't just on foot all the time, you'll get to man a tank, fly planes and more. All of it felt like it has a purpose, rather than just to tick a box to simply have it in the game. And since this is a DICE game, they nail the sound and visuals departments in every way too. Granted the single player stuff takes about 6 hours to complete, some may feel thats too short, but to me it's quality over quantity. For Multiplayer.. all i'll say is that it's a shame it's dead at this point, because it's something unique that every FPS player should experience for itself. Now i'm ready for Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield 1
All 51 Trophies
17th June 2021  Completed in 3 years, 7 months

- Just like last week, i made progress in Anthem and finished up the Colossus gear challenges, for guns i'm still missing a few that i'll probably get as i work my way towards the other 3 classes set of challenges. For RE Revelations 2 i did some practice runs and finished the first level in speedrun mode, didn't had the same luck in invisible mode tho. I went back to both GTA San Andreas and Vice City as they are part of my list for the Summer Backlog Challenge, and they still are great games, but rough, specially when it comes to the controls, i died a lot trying to finish the "All Hands on Deck" mission on Vice City, it's hard to control your aim and you have enemies coming from every direction, choppers gunning you down, boats yelling and shooting at the air, so much chaos, and it sucks when you die during a mission, you have to go back to the mission marker, to start it from beginning, and you lose all the guns you have in the process.

- Are you guys keeping up to date with this crazy rumour about the Metal Gear Solid Remake? Ziggy is keeping this thread updated with recent news and i highly recommend for everyone, MGS fan or not, to take a peak at it, this shit is way too good lol

I'll start posting my goals for the coming week as well, so maybe later today i'll have something ready. And.. yeah, that's about it for me, is anyone else making some progress? feels like most people are playing Ratchet and Clank or Ninja Gaiden this week.

Alright, i layed down my plans for next week, and this is what i'll be going for:

- Getting the platinum on Soul Calibur 6  *High priority, this will be my last fighting game

- finishing the main story for FF Remake 7 and Yakuza 0

- Grinding a few more gears in Anthem and finish at least one more Javelin (Storm perhaps?)

- Make some progress in both GTA San andreas and Vice City main missions

- Practice and hopefully finish a few more invisible and speedrun levels in RE Revelations 2

- Not gaming related, but since the whole movie industry is in a weird place right now due to the pandemic and there's not much coming out, i'll go back in time and dive into new grounds, i'll try Japanese cinema first, mostly old samurai movies to start, there's a few i'm looking for to watch next week, including Yojimbo, The Hidden Fortress, Samurai Rebellion, and Goyôkin, i was reading an old thread around here about the art behind Ghost of Tsushima and someone brought up those movies.
