I've liked the new albums by Epica, Within Temptation, Arkona, Van Canto, Alestorm, Grave Digger... but if I had to choose one favourite album I'd go with Whispered - Shogunate Macabre. It's symphonic/folk/death metal combined with Japanese folk music (many call it Samurai Metal)... couldn't ask for much better than that.
