How pointless is gaming as a hobby?

Hrm...

Right.

I'm outdoors every day after work, with the exercise and whatnot. I don't think you guys are really following me.

I follow what your saying hommie.

maybe video games ain't exactly your thing no more.

could just had been a phase for you that you have now out grown and it's time to let it go.

for some I'm sure this happens. sounds like you got a Big hole in ya life that needs filling.

maybe what you considered relaxing and fun has changed. you just need to put it all into perspective.

could be that stamp collecting or bird watching is now more your thing. or even bungee jumping off a bridge and such.

you never know. here's to hoping ya fill that Void.

just don't turn into one of those people that blames all of life's problems on VG.

this too could be the OP's underline issue.

not because you have every game, system ever created means you have to play it.

or does not wanting to play means/makes it worthless. the value is in the enjoyment sure enough but sometimes you just feel burned and lack the energy for said or any hobby that is a constant.

times like this is when you mix it up. try something new for awhile.

I'm no therapist, but I would say that your going through some sort of gamers midlife crisis.

I would recommend putting down controller for a bit. go to the park, bike riding or something.

I've been playing less than I normally have and I am actually beginning to enjoy gaming again.

I burned myself out on gaming once, too much Xbox, PS3 and MMOs.

I gave myself a break for a few months and came back when I had the urge to start gaming again.

I would advise that you just leave all your stuff alone and only ditch it when you're 100% sure it's no longer what you want in your life (assuming it ever comes to that).

Chances are you just need a breather and to go and do something else, just be careful on the tons of exercise as that can become all encompassing too.

I went to a wedding on Friday and met up with some some friends and relatives I haven't seen for quite some time, and also some really nice people I'd never met before.

If it's taught me one thing, it's that I don't spend enough time with my family and friends.

Having other things in your life besides gaming can help balance out the time you spend on it, preventing the burnout and keeping it enjoyable.

You said you don't want a GF right now, then don't look for one, just enjoy socialising, it may give you some inspiration and it may even surprise you along the way.

@Dreakon - Masturbate. Masturbate a lot. It sounds like you really need it. If you squeeze out like 8-12 a day, that will pull you right out of your slump within a week. It works for me every time. Even if you are getting laid, still masturbate like 6-8 times a day. Do this and let me know how it works for you. Bet you feel like a new man and you won't be depressed anymore.
