RobThanatos
We all know EA shuts down servers when games die down, making the Platinum impossible to reach for those who don't have the online trophies already. I was curious if we could create our own custom server from the computer. In my mind it seems possible to set up a proxy on your wifi and set up your own server or LAN network. Maybe even use an ethernet cable directly to the computer. Is this a possibility?
Parker
I doubt it. If it were possible I'm sure there would be many people doing it to get platinums for their older games. Parker
truth320
i would hesitate to say that it would be a possibility. as it requires computer knowledge of ea
RobThanatos
What computer knowledge? EA hosts a server accessible by the address the game uses.
simula67
Online games require more than just the existence of some arbitrary server to connect to. These servers run proprietary software specific to each game that handles things like leaderboards, matchmaking, etc. If your game tries to make a call to some random server to do something and the server is not prepared or able to process that call, then your game will not work. Think of it this way. You want to call Papa John's and order a pizza. But the Papa John's nearest to you is closed, so you instead call McDonald's to order a pizza. It's just not going to work. A12
You would need a copy of the actual server software made by the Dev's. And it would have to be on a server on the PSN. So call Sony and ask if you can have access to their network to run a privet server...
