Anyone interested in a "Casual attack on your backlog" Event?

Recommended Posts

Im currently participating in the Bye Bye Backlog: Instant Game Collection Event by XX_FTW, which kind of inspired me for this idea. Just like many of you (i guess...), my backlog is ridicilously large, and as i realized during the mentioned Event by XX_FTW, publicly commiting yourself to complete a list of specific games really motivates and helps in also actually doing so.

But that event being restricted to PSN+ games, and the aim being to 100% every game, i also felt really limited in creating my list, for i am not really a hardcore trophy hunter. i will go for 100%/platinum if it seems feasible without too much of an extra effort (extra effort being relly dependant on how much i like a game...), thats why i came up with this idea and would now like to know if there is any interest in it.

So, my idea (up for debate and suggestions) is that every participant posts a list of games and personal goals for that game, for example:

1.) Game A || Story completion

2.) Game B || 100%

3.) Game C || Platinum

4.) Game D || Story Completion + DLC

5.) Game E || Platinum

And then reports on their progress and maybe a few impressions. In regards to the schedule, I thought of a continuous thing, not a one time event, so you can gradually reduce your backlog. So like a list of 5 games every 3 months or 10 games very half a year or something like that. In regards to rules, there shouldnt be much. I think this should serve mainly as self-motivation than as kind of competition, so there will be no leaderboards or points or whatever, just a (hopefully) growing list of games off of your backlog. But i plan to update the list of participants with completed games. The only rule i would propose is that you only add games to your list that you have at least a specific time (3 months? 6months? longer??) in your possesion, but never got to play or just stopped before completion, Otherwise i wouldnt really consider it part of your backlog.

Thats all i can think of, i look forward to hear suggestions or criticism and hope to find some people interested in doing this!

Oh. and if such a thing has already been done, im not trying to steal an idea, i just didnt find anything of this kind! ;)

Think you should just make the event instead, give credits to the original creator and let the interested people join you. That way should be better to handle it and you don't need to set 2 threads for it (just edit this one using the Full Edit button and make it become the event itself, then report this post and ask a moderator to delete it for ya).

There's actually a similar sort of event going on here: http://psnprofiles.com/forums/topic/40524-mission-100-fallautumn-backlog-challenge-sign-up-open-starts-september-15/

And that one will have another one running in January.  About the only difference between your idea and that is that that one is more of a get a game from 20% completion or below to 100% and yours allows for other goals instead of just 100%, which could be enough to justify another event and could be interesting for those of us trying to get our completions up and have some lengthy and difficult games in our backlog.

Actually, an event focusing on completion percentage might be enough of something and people can pick some games to work on to boost to a certain overall goal.

Nice Idea. I say just make the event.

The only criticism I have is the "only add games to your list that you have had for specific time in your possesion" rule. How do people prove they have had the game for however long? I know there are people like me with tons of games in their backlog that they have never started which would keep it off their PSNP list.

And that small difference is exactly the reason why i wont take part in such an event. I have so many games on my backlog that would be impossible for me to 100% them, either because i literally would not be able to (too hard) or cant be bothered (would take to much time), or they have multiplayer trophies im just not interested in.

Actualy, i would prefer to just participate and not do my own event, that would be much easier, but as i said, i didnt found one where the aim is not to 100% the games...

Well, as it wouldnt be a competition, that wouldnt be a hard rule, but more of a recommendation i would propose that people impose on themselves. I wouldnt ask for proof of any kind!

My whole life comes down to a 'casual attack on my backlog', and yeaaaaah... its not working out so well for me as far. So I don't really feel the imminent need to officialise my shame :P

But good luck to all those that manage to put their OCD back on track! Kudos to ya!
