100% working guide

1. make sure you and your friend are in the main menu.

2.  you make a lobby but don’t start the game and invite your friend.

3. it will say he/she has failed to join.

4. stay in that lobby you made and get your friend to host their lobby (don’t start game) it and invite and you, should be able to join them.

until the patch comes out, this is a 100% working solution.

Can confirm it is really working! Thanks a lot.

The whole idea behind the Epic store is that they take much less of a cut off the back end to help indie devs grow. The idea behind paying bigger games for exclusivity is to get more eyes on the indie games. By the time they pay for this exclusivity and take a huge loss on their cut, they only make about 10-20% of what Steam would make off the same game, if not less. If that's them swinging their monetary dick around, than I might not know what that phrase means lol.

Paying for exclusivity is to get more eyes on their service. It's an investment, and investing to not let other stores put something on their shelves for several months is swinging their Fortnite microtransaction profits around. More money and funding to developers is reason to use a different platform, and Epic already has plans to actually build up into being a legitimate alternative to Steam. Instead of just focusing on developing their service and advertising its strong points, they're trying to force some kind of transition while they're basically still in beta.

If you want to look at a good thing negatively, that's your choice. You say that they don't have to pay for exclusivity to get people to come over since doing a good thing would be enough, but were do you see the evidence of that? If that was the case, people would be going there now instead of whining about using a second launcher lol.

Also what makes you think they're using Fortnite money? I'm assuming they used Fortnite profits to get the game store off the ground in the first place. But most companies don't take money from one division to help another division. That's not how major corporations work. You're making an awful lot of assumptions based on absolutely nothing.... but that's the internet hate culture for ya lol.

... But the topic is called "Can't play with FRIENDS". That was why I stated what I did.

Bad reading.

But yes, playing with randoms is still broke.

Generic title.  Just means any multiplayer.  Friends or randoms doesn't matter.

It was Epic's choice to draw attention to the store in a way that left a sour taste in everyone's mouths. Instead of telling potential users, "we want to put more money in the pockets of developers and are working on features to make the store worth using," they went with, "you have to use our barebones Steam knock-off if you want to play these games when they come out." First impressions matter, and Epic Store crapped the bed pretty hard with theirs; it's not my fault their marketing team isn't any good at their jobs.

Epic Store is a "second launcher" because its severe lack of features means it's not worth using over or alongside Steam on any practical level. If people go on the Epic Store because they have to in order to buy a certain title, they're not going to be too happy to see the state it's in; if people choose to go on Epic Store because they heard it takes a smaller cut from developers, they'd be perfectly okay with the lack of features. This was the basis of my "trying to force some kind of transition while they're basically still in beta" remark. Until the store can actually offer things like cloud saves, mod support, and user reviews (while keeping the cut they take as small as it is), most people aren't going to be impressed or feel particularly enthusiastic about migrating over. Had they waited until the store wasn't so lackluster and could actually somewhat compete on its own merits before pulling this timed exclusivity garbage, I'd be less apt to rag on them, yet here we are.

And the Fortnite comment was because it's a multi-billion dollar cash cow. It alone gave Epic a massive safety net for buying timed exclusives until they ("they" meaning the exclusives, not any particular effort on Epic's part) got the store on its feet.
