About the actual situation of Minecraft Story Mode Season 1

Hello folks,

since there are now three or more posts where the same questions about "Can I still download Minecraft Story Mode Season 1 somehow" were asked again and again, I thought I'd try to centralize this information once (And yes, I can understand the confusion since it is just silly and simple cash grabbing to release so many different packages).

 

One aspect I also want to clarify before is what “delisting” means in the case of the Minecraft Story Mode games:

 

Spoiler

• For these games delisting means that you can´t find the episodes on PSN if you haven´t bought them before.
• If you have bought them before the delisting you are still able to download them successfully via the ingame menu or through your PSN library and through the DLC menu of games.
• Also you can still download the episodes via the Season Pass disc or if you have bought the digital versions of the Season Pass and/or the Adventure Pass.

 

 

Also i wan´t to clarify two things which are important in case of the disc versions:

 

Spoiler

• It doesn´t matter if a disc is a used copy or new because they act the same.
• The region lock of the disc must always match the region code of your PSN accounts country: https://i.imgur.com/cmfPRlP.png ==> If not you can't download any episodes.

 

Which versions or passes of Minecraft Story Mode Season 1 where published?

 

1) Single download of every episode

• (As far as i am informed..) You where able to buy every episode separately and to download them via PSN
  • I don´t know if you where able to buy the episodes from the Adventure Pass (6-8) seperately or not.

 

2) Season Pass for digital download

Spoiler

 

• The first five episodes are included within the Season Pass (Episode 1, 2, 3, 4, 5):
  • Episode 1: "The Order of the Stone"
  • Episode 2: "Assembly Required"
  • Episode 3: "The Last Place You Look"
  • Episode 4: "A Block and a Hard Place"
  • Episode 5: "Order Up!"
• Adventure Pass episodes 6, 7, 8 were not included

 

 

3) Season Pass Disc

Spoiler

 

• The first episode is included on the disc, but you need to download episode 2 -5 through the ingame menu
• Adventure Pass episodes 6, 7, 8 are not included

 

 

4) Adventure Pass

Spoiler

 

• The Adventure Pass is an episode-pack that contains the second part of the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode which contents episodes 6-8.
• Since the Adventure Pass was not included in the Season Pass players had to buy it separately to get Episodes 6-8.
• The Adventure Pass was only available as a download, there is no single disc version where only the Adventure Pass episodes are included.
• There are 3 episodes in the Adventure Pass (Episode 6, 7, 8):
  • Episode 6: "A Portal to Mystery"
  • Episode 7: "Access Denied"
  • Episode 8: "A Journey's End?"

 

5) Season Pass Deluxe

Spoiler

• The Season Pass Deluxe was a type of a pass that included the Season Pass and Adventure Pass. However, Episode 1 was needed in order to get them.
• The Season Pass Deluxe was only available as a download, there is no disc version of it.

 

 

6) The Complete Adventure disc

Spoiler

• The Complete Adventure features all of Minecraft: Story Mode's episodes.
• It includes the Episodes from the Season Pass (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and the Adventure Pass (6, 7, 8).
• There is no need to download anything, you can access everything from the disc.

So.. What about the actual situation?

 

A ) Digital only versions available via PSN:

 

1. I didn´t buy any episode or one or the season pass or adventure pass before.

You can download a free version of episode 1 via PSN but you can´t buy the season pass, the adventure pass or the episodes separately because all of these products are delisted.

2. I bought a single episode or some episodes before but not the others.

Spoiler

You can still download the episodes you bought. But if you can buy the missing episodes from the the Season Pass or Adventure Pass standalone needs confirmation.

3. I bought the Season Pass but I haven´t bought the Adventure Pass.

Spoiler

You can still download the Season Pass episodes 1-5 and you can buy the Adventure Pass. But I do not know of you can buy the Adventure Pass episodes 6-8 standalone.

4. I bought the season pass and adventure pass (separately or via the Season Pass Deluxe).

You can still download episodes 1-8.

 

B ) Disc versions

 

1. I bought the Season Pass disc and didn´t buy the Adventure Pass

You can still download episode 1-5 via the ingame menu or through your PSN library and through the DLC menu of games. Also you can buy the Adventure Pass and download episodes 6-8.

2. I bought the Season Pass disc and the Adventure Pass

You can still download episode 1-8 via the ingame menu or through your PSN library and through the DLC menu of games.

3. I bought the The Complete Adventure disc

There is no need to download anything, you can access everything from the disc.

What errors can happen?

 

1) PSN shows bullshit that cannot be true!

• Although i have bought the digital versions of the Season Pass and/or the Adventure Pass ages ago i can´t download all episodes.
• PSN tells me that i haven´t bought them all or that i didn´t buy the passes or something like this which is just not true.

- Contact Sony about this issue and be patient because they won´t act for some time as you would like them to do.

2) I can´t download all episodes via the ingame menu

• You have the Season Pass disc but you can only download one or some of the episodes but others or only one episode is locked.

- Create an alt PSN account which is registered to a different country but in the same region that matches the region lock of your game disc.

- Or contact Sony and be patient.

Some typing issues and new information

Thanks for clearing this up! Seems physical owners are in the clear. I've heard season 2 has a code with new copies to download the game instead, can you confirm if that's on the disc too?

Thank you for all of the info regarding this. I just found season 1 complete @ Walmart for $7 on clearance & this helped greatly to clarify that I was actually getting the whole game.

Since I finished MSM S1 (Complete Adventure Disc on PS4) and MSM S2 (Season Pass Disc on PS4)  some weeks before I can say for 100% that everything I wrote before is true:

 

The MSM games are playable even after the delisting if you owned them before digitally or you own a disc version.

Only the online components of the games are no longer working:

- Login to your Telltale account.

- Checking your choices through the menu.

- Crowd Play (Never used it in any Telltale game but I think that the host must be logged in to a Telltale account?).

I bought a US copy of the game a few weeks ago, and as per the recommendation have used an American account to see what's available. As expected, the options to download episodes 2->5 are there, but when I go to buy the Adventure Pass for the rest...the link works, and it's on sale for USD $9.95 + tax - now, I haven't bought it yet because there wasn't enough in my wallet, but can anyone else confirm this was the case for them? Would sure be much easier and cheaper this way instead of having to rebuy the Complete Version ?

Hello community, in 2020 I was able to get my hands on a used copy of a "Season Pass Disc" for "Minecraft Story Mode - Season One" for PS3 for Region 2.

With the disc I did some testing myself to find out:

1. If the episodes 2,3,4 and 5 can still be downloaded (Because only episode 1 is included on disc).

2. If the availability of the "Adventure Pass" - episodes 6,7 and 8 is still granted or not.

 

The results I got where surprising:

1. I was able to successfully download the episodes 2,3,4 and 5 through the disc menu. But the way to achieve this was a bit confusing. Sometimes the games does not connect to PSN servers in a stable way: 

• Sometimes no episodes could be found and the game gave me a message telling that nothing was available for download. 
• When I closed the game and restarted it then I was able to download one episode, but got an error while trying to download the next episode.
• After more of the "closing and restarting action", with some console restarts and even switching to other PSN region 2 accounts in between, I was able to download episodes 2,3,4 and 5.

2. I was able to buy the "Adventure Pass" and even could download episodes 6,7 and 8. But I had to do the same "closing and restarting action".

 

==> Because of this I will update the information on first post. Also I apologise for conflicting information. I created the first post in 2019 with the information that was available on the web and had to rely on the information regarding the disc versions of the game I did not have myself in 2019.

Hey so not sure if anyone is monitoring this thread anymore but can we get some ACTUAL confirmation on if you get the Complete Adventure disk that it will actually work? I can see it being sold on Amazon but I can also see reviews being left say that it doesn't work still despite it being the disk version.

 

Thanks in advance, would love to play this but just don't wanna waste money at the same time.

I can confirm that the Complete Adventure disc has every episode (including DLC).

Hey there I know this is going to sound like a pain but it would be nice to see someone showing the game and booting it up to show it has all the episode.

 

I understand what you're saying and completely agree with you on those points there is just so much conflicting information around the Minecraft Story Mode games all over the place so its just so hard to know what to believe ya know

I am owner of the "Complete Adventure" disc of Minecraft Story Mode Season 1 for PS4 and played it for an psnprofiles event 2 years ago.

I can assure you that only the "Complete Adventure" Disc is really "Complete", season pass and adventure pass episodes.

The "Season Pass" Disc is missing the three episodes of the "Adventure Pass".

 

And also with Amazon reviews, the case will apply that some sellers advertise the "Complete Adventure" version of the game, but end up selling the "Wrong Version" ==> No screenshots from the menu will help you if such an issue arrises .

 

You have to buy where you are sure to get the right version. So buy the game where used games are sold directly or your purchase can be reversed if you get the wrong product.

I can confirm the Complete Adventure has all the core episodes and the DLC episodes. Just installed it today.
