Popular Post ConeWarrior
Hey folks, Longtime Shenmue lover here and figured this is the one game I would want to contribute the most to. As such, thought it may be worth starting a post so we can have a single post for sharing information about trophies, largely for subquests, skillbook & capsule locations and maybe even maps for fishing locations but any tips or tricks for others could be handy. I'll put what I have in spoiler tags just to not ruin things for anyone who wants to find them on their own. Any and all contributions welcome, if you wish to post yourself please do use spoiler tags or you can PM me and I will add to mine! Plant Hoarders & Expert Herbalist Spoiler Based on other posts, this seems to be that you have to collect a herb in each of the spots shown on the herb maps you can pick up for free outside the marts. I am not sure if the quest specific ones are required or not though, or if this carries over through repeated playthroughs so best just get all in one. According to some posts on Shenmue Dojo there is herbs which respawn and some which do not and it is not yet clear what you need to get the achievement from what I can see. Adept Angler Spoiler Based on others posts, it seems that you need to fish in every spot at least once, including the 'hidden' ones which are received as rewards for subquests. I am not sureif this carries over through repeated playthroughs so best just get all in one. Bailu Subquests Putting these in the order I have them in the book which matches the order I found them, some of the quest can be failed though so do complete them as soon as you can. If anyone can help with later ones or any I have missed, that'd be appreciated but please do use spoiler tags for how to get them, just in case there are some who wish to try themselves. Based on another post there was apparently 10 in Bailu. Capsule of Love Spoiler Bai Xinghao in village centre requires help finishing 2 collections, requires White Fishing Lure from Fishing Series (Machine in village centre) & Diamond P from Gem Series (Machine in Panda Mart area). To complete speak to him & his grandfather between Tao's Shop and the Village. The Biggest Catch Spoiler Started at Mr Huangs Fishing shop before noon. Got to catch the biggest fish possible within 3 in game hours. No idea if there is a trick to this yet but I myself found a lake trout which was over 6kg and was more than enough to win. Found this by fishing on the left hand side of the pond and casting as far over to the left as I could. This could be pure luck but worth a try! To complete just finish fishing and talk to Mr Huang. Heartbreak Kungfu Spoiler Started by talking to Yang Wenliang in Joy Park, requires you to go speak to Wei Zhen in the sunflower grove. You then have to beat her in a fight. Go back and talk to Yang Wenliang and then back to Wei Zhen to complete. Future Dream Spoiler Started by talking to Zhi Mao near the Panda Mart, he asks for you to help get him a soccer ball. You can get this by winning the pail toss in the village centre and getting a rock in the blue pail. Once you have this go talk to Zhi Mao again. Make sure to choose the fishing location as the prize as this apparently is required for the fishing trophies. Medicine Delivery Spoiler Started by talking to Elder Yeh. She asks you to get 4 herbs for her, 3 of them you can find in most places and may have already which are Licorice, Peony and Trifoliate Orange. The last is Chai Hu Root which appears to be quest unique. The only location I found this is on the path to Languishan, more specifically in the grass field where the cows are, it was a tiny yellow flower so hard to see. Once you have this hand them all back to her to complete. Mr Su's Tall Tales Spoiler Speak to Mr Su once a day for the 4 days after you initially speak to him about the Verdant Bridge and you complete this with ease. Catfish Rally Spoiler Started at Mr Huangs Fishing shop, he asks you to catch specific fish. First was white catfish which was in the main lake, the next is a blue catfish which was the fishing spot just down from Joy Park ( i cast along the waterfall). The third was the Green catfish which is in the small lake just after Sunflower meadow. The last was the Red Catfish which is at the far end of the River downstream from the Verdant Bridge on the village side (this one took me 5 rentals to catch it so be patient). Miracle Mushroom Spoiler This was started by Kong Wei at the panda mart after you have given Mr Sun the 50 year old booze. She asked me to fetch a mushroom. I found mine near one of the fishing points under a rock arch along the river to the left just after you cross over the Verdant Bridge. To complete I handed back to her and got another fishing location as a reward. Ghost Buster Request Spoiler This starts with Lihong & Weiling in the sunflower patch after you give Mr Sun the 50 Year old booze. You need to go to the abandoned temple after 7pm and speak to Mr Sun. He will ask you pick some mushrooms for him which are in the grass along the path (including down the stairs). I gathered 8, gave them to him and then spoke to the kids the next day to complete the quest. Fabled Fabric Finder Spoiler Started with the pawn shop vendor after defeating the head Thug. He will ask you to get some silk for him, the silk you need is from the weavers at Rainbow Basin. They will give you some as a reward for saving Yanzin. Take this back to the vendor to complete the quest. Niaowu Subquests There is apparently 15 subquests in this area according to data mining but I'm taking my time so nothing so far from me High-Score Master Not sure how many arcades and machines there are in the game or if you have to set the highscore on every machine or just one of each but the list I have seen is below. Spoiler Panda Arcade Highway star Excite QTE3 QTE Title II Wacky Mole Naiowu Harbor Arcade Highway star Nice Golf Excite QTE3 QTE Title II Wacky Mole Chobuchan Fighter Battle Master No idea where this is yet, I assume in Naiowu and assume once you have maxed kungu should be a piece of cake. Capsule Hero Spoiler Bailu Village Tennis Goods (Tao Get store) Heavy Machinery set (Tao Get store) Shenmue I set (Village square) Selected Lures (Village square) Various Balls (Panda mart, Arcade) Fire Extinguisher Friends (Panda mart, Arcade) Gem Set (Panda mart, Arcade) Niaowi Toy Cars Set (Next to Hotel Niaowu) Various Balls (Next to Hotel Niaowu) Selected Lures (In front of Millions Served) Tennis Goods (In front of Millions Served) Fire Extinguisher Friends (upstairs in Ferry Terminal) Technique Master Not a clue how many there are of these yet but there does seem to be a multiple ways to get some. Spoiler Bailu Village Spiral Leg - Tao-Get Store Ground Kick - Tao-Get Store Hidden Sandstorm - Kong Mei Goods, Skill Book Exchange Tiger Thigh - Kong Mei Goods, Skill Book Exchange Heaven Flip - Skill Book Exchange Back Twist Fist - Skill Book Exchange Backfist - Skill Book Exchange Sudden Shear - Skill Book Exchange Spinning Backfist - Skill Book Exchange Flying Spear - Skill Book Exchange Heel Kick - Skill Book Exchange Breaking Wave - Skill Book Exchange Spiral Cut - Skill Book Exchange Maelstrom Strike - Skill Book Exchange Niaowi TBD Grindables! I personally will be doing them in this order reasoning in the spoiler below. Chop 1000 times Fish 1000 times Owned over 10,000 Yuen Buy 1000 shop items Owned over 500,000 tokens Spoiler By the time you have completed the fishing and chopping tasks, you should have well over 10,000 yuen at which point you can just buy 1000 carrots which would be 1000 yuen and you could then just buy the tokens which would be 50,000 yuen you need. I first thought you wouldhave enough yuen from all the fishing and chopping, but this I just got around an average of 400-500 yuen for 20 fish over 5 attempts so would estimate 20,000 to 25,000 from all the fishing. That'd get you at good start to the target though if you were to buy tokens with it all. Edited November 26, 2019 by ConeWarrior
StacFace92
I'll add my input based on what I know so far: Plant Hoarders - they definitely weren't respawning towards the end when I was going round 3 times trying to find literally any herb. I have a theory that the more common herbs (ie licorice and maybe one/two others) respawn if you sell them, that or the people who think they're respawning are actually in a slightly different spot each time. Adept Angler - not sure if locations carry over or not, but the number of fish you catch definitely does (I kept track of the fish I caught on my NG+ in Excel). Bailu Subquests - 9 is Ghost Buster Request (speak to a kid in sunflower grove after catching chickens with Sun) and 10 is Fabled Fabric Finder (Panda Pawn Shop owner). High Score Master - there's an additonal arcade in Niaowu when you get to the area with Golden Goose gambling, same games but 'Mirace Shooter' replaces 'Nice Golf'. I'd love to know the specific requirements for this though, only the QTE and Wacky Mole games actually clearly state what the high score is. Battle Master - it's the fighting in Rose Garden. You have 12 rounds with single fighters, 6 rounds with two at once, 4 rounds with three at once. I beat the 12 singles and either 1 or 2 sets of the pairs (can't remember) in my original game, in NG+ it didn't carry over and I did it all in a row at max levels. Would be interesting to know if repeating fights within the same playthrough counts though (it gives you the option to continue or start over if you leave the area and come back). Capsule Hero - I have a spreadsheet with all of them except Car 2 & Chair if anyone knows those ones. There's so many it's proably easier if you ask what you can't find than me list them all. Most are obviously outside, a few are inside (bigger) stores, a couple are hidden away. I'm planning to do a proper guide with it all once I've got the plat myself to confirm it's all correct. Technique Master - I'm pretty sure all the moves available to buy in Bailu were also available by skill exchange, so I wouldn't buy any here. Not sure myself how many there are exactly and how to get them all, as I know there's a couple you get for doing specific side things and I don't know if it's the only way to get them / how many are like this etc. VIP - this is story related. Grindables - I'd put wood chopping first because it's actually really quick to get to 1000 (you don't actually chop 1000, you can get a score of 100+ in one session) and it makes sure you have enough to buy the good fishing rod to earn the most from fishing (can't remember how much money you start off with). I'd also not buy things for the sake of it until after you have the money/token trophies, because you need to have those amounts physically on you to get the trophy. Buying the 1 yuan food items for the amount of food you need is definitely the way forward though (works out well from a cost vs health gain perspective too). I'd also hold off on things like capsules & buying moves where possible for the same reason.

ConeWarrior
These baily herbs are driving me insane!! Everyday I go and scour everywhere, used the maps for once and found 4 more non respawning ones but still not there. I'm going to have pulled my hair out at this rate. Popular Post ExistentialSolid
High-Score Master - To get this trophy, it appears that you need to achieve a high score on EVERY one of the machines in which achieving a high score is possible (there are a total of 20 machines that you can set a high score on). There are 3 arcade games that you can achieve a high score in: "Wacky Mole", "QTE Title 2", and "Excite QTE 3". These games only appear in the arcades across the game, one of which is located in Bailu Village while the remaining two are located in Niaowu. Simply get a high score on each one of these machines in the game and you should net the trophy. I will list below each of the machines in the 3 arcades that you need to set a high score on: Bailu Village Arcade in Panda Market: 2 "Wacky Mole" machines, 1 "QTE Title 2" machine, and 1 "Excite QTE" machine. Niaowu Arcade near Hotel Niaowu: 3 "Wacky Mole" machines, 2 "QTE Title 2" machines, and 2 "Excite QTE" machines. Niaowu Arcade near Golden Goose: 5 "Wacky Mole" machines, 2 "QTE Title 2" machines, and 2 "Excite QTE" machines. Note: Other mini-games in the arcades like "Highway Star," "Miracle Shooter," "Chobu-Chan Fighter," and "Mini-golf" are not required for the trophy since you cannot obtain a high score in these games. --------Technique Master - There appears to be a total of 90 skill books in the game (92 if you include the deluxe edition/day one dlc skill books "Burning Sandstorm" and "Blazing Kick"). Most of the skill books can be obtained through either a direct purchase at the shop or exchanged for at the pawn shop by exchanging sets of items. I will list each of the skill books below in groups of 8 in the order that the game has displayed them for me and discuss a few that you should be on the lookout for: Jab - Hook - Uppercut - Spin Kick - High Front Kick - Stepping Knee Strike - Tiger Knuckle - Downward Punch Knee Strike - Rain Thrust - Twist Knuckle - Elbow Slam - Mantis Combo - Crescent Kick - Reaper's Kick - Avalanche Lance Razor Flash - Double Blow - Lunging Strike - Oblique Slam - Pit Blow - Mud Spider - Twin Blades - Trample Kick Hold Against Leg - Uphill Battle - Brutal Tiger - Upper Knuckle - Thigh Combo - Sword Kick - Cannon Blow - Stab Armor Big Wheel - Iron Palm - Katana Mist Slash - Brawling Uppercut - Counter Elbow Assault - Elbow Assault - Tornado Kick - Stinging Elbow Back Tiger Fist - Backfist - Spinning Backfist - Iron Palm* - Charging Fist - Demolishing Fist - Breaking Wave* - Interior Dorsal Kick Spiral Leg - Lawnmower - Ground Kick - Interior Knee - Heaven Flip - Charging Knee - Ankle Sweep - Flying Spear Roundhouse Kick - Heel Kick - Shinbone Smash - Reverse Heel - Back Roundhouse Kick - Knee Kick - Tiger Thigh - Scorpion TailSpiral Cut* - Feilian Thigh - Lotus Cutter - Breakout - Eclipse Kick - Engulfing Strike - Hidden Sandstorm - Twin Lotus Shower of Spears - Grievous Strike - Brawling Uppercut 2* - Dancing Fist - Sudden Shear - Turbulent Thrust - Mountain Crusher - Maelstrom Strike*Tiger Combo* - Twin Palm Flurry - Searing Flame - Rending Palm - Burrowing Full Moon - Four-Sided Kick - Chained Pit Slash - Thunder PalmTiger's Fury* - Dancling Swallow *Iron Palm appears twice in the list but appears to be 2 separate moves. *Brawling Uppercut 2 is a move that cannot be purchased or exchanged for. To obtain it, you must get a job in Niaowu as a forklift worker and work 1 shift. After the shift is over, Hong Dejing will tell you to meet him at 5 PM at the docks. He will teach you the move there. *Tiger Combo - Cannot be purchased, must be exchanged for at the pawnshop. One of the items required to exchange is the "Dragon Carving" which I believe can only be obtained in the "The Greatest Fortune" sidequest. *Tiger's Fury - Cannot be purchased or exchanged for. Will be obtained as a reward in the Rose Garden arena when you go for the "Battle Master" trophy. *Breaking Wave - Must be exchanged for. One of the required items in the set exchange is the Magnifying Glass which can only be obtained in Bailu Village at the prize exchange. Be sure to buy one in advance so that you are ready to trade it in later in Niaowu. *Maelstrom Strike - Must be exchanged for. One of the required items in the set exchange is the Red Radio which can only be obtained in Bailu Village at Kong Mei Goods. Be sure to buy one in advance so that you are ready to trade it in later in Niaowu.*Spiral Cut - Cannot be purchased, must be exchanged for at the pawnshop. One of the items required to exchange is the Blue Dragon Vase which can only be obtained in the "Heartbreak Kungfu" sidequest. Be sure to save this item and not sell it so that you’re ready to trade it in later in Niaowu. Other mini-games present in the arcades like "Miracle Shooter" and "Chobu-Chan Fighter" are also not necessary for the trophy since you cannot get a high score in them. Popular Post ExistentialSolid
Niaowu Subquest Guide -- All 15 subquests available in Niaowu are detailed below. There are spoilers so beware. I have listed them in the order that they appear in Ryo's journal. *Note: If you are attempting to earn the "Good Karma" trophy, you will need to complete all Bailu Village subquests and all Niaowu subquests in a single playthrough. Refer to ConeWarrior's original post for Bailu Villiage subquest details.*Wagon Bus - Speak to Wang Shangui at the Funny Masks stand to begin the quest. He will request a Wagon Bus capsule toy from the Car Series. The Car Series set of capsules is located on the outside wall of the arcade close to Hotel Niaowu. Once you have the Wagon Bus toy, return to Wang Shangui to complete the quest.A Wise Purchase - To begin the quest, go to the area in the port where you disembarked from the boat and you should see a woman in blue named Xing. She will request 4 items and ask that you collect them for as cheap a price as posssible. Below are the 4 items and a cheap place to purchase them from: Blue fan - Traveler's Goods Xiaolongbao - Crazy Dim Sum Monk Fruit - The Fruit Basket Niaowu Walker - Dusty Pages Return with all 4 items to Xing to complete the quest. Be careful as this quest is easy to fail if you purchase overpriced items!Catch the Skipper! - Ma Jialing at the front desk of Hotel Niaowu will ask you to collect the hotel fee of a client that skipped out on the bill. You can find the client right behind the forklift warehouse. He will fight you when you encounter him. Simply defeat him and return the bill to Ma Jialing to complete the quest.Ren to the Rescue - Ren will roam around the area near Hotel Niaowu once you first encounter him in the story. Speak to him to begin the quest. He will ask you to find an Almond Mushroom. Go to Tough Guy Herbs where you will find an Almond Mushroom on sale for 50 yuan. Purchase the mushroom and return to Ren in the area near Hotel Niaowu. He will later appear outside the Peace of Pawn shop. Speak to him again to complete the quest.River Fishing Festival - Speak to Tang Yingqiu at the Get River Fish stall to begin the quest. Starting at noon, you will need to catch the most fish by 3 PM to win a competition. I recommend renting the most expensive equipment and going to the fishing spot to the left of the Liu Jiao shrine entrance (small and very rocky fishing area). While fishing, reel in immediately after you cast out to both lure the fish towards you and minimize the amount of line you need to reel in (this technique is fast and will also work for Angler Extraordinaire). I needed to catch 17 fish but this number might vary. Speak to Yang Yingiu again after 3 PM while carrying the most fish to complete the quest.Vegetable Vigilance – Speak to Shi Zirou at the Villiage Vegetable stand to begin the quest. You will be asked to find a termite mushroom. One can be found to the right of the Peking Duck House. Return to Shi Zirou with the mushroom to complete the quest.Ryo Plays Cupid – Speak to Zou Leyong from Beats of Rage to begin the quest. He will ask you to find out the interests of Hua Shengling at the Cake Shop next door. Speak to her to find out that she likes flowers. Speak to Zou Leyong again, then proceed to Nihao Flowers and speak to Fan Xiaoru to learn about the Dreaming Maiden Flower. One of the flowers is located next to the fishing spot right across from the Get River Fish shop. Return to Zou Leyong with the flower to complete the quest.Pink Panda of Happiness – Speak to Lang Baodong at the Lion Smart Ball to begin the quest. She will ask you to find a pink panda. The pink panda can be won at the Lucky Hit stand near Hotel Niaowu. Give the pink panda to Lang Baodong to complete the quest.Guilin Roll Creation! – Speak to Jiang Youqun from Sushi Heaven to begin the quest. They will ask you to find 3 ingredients ideas for sushi. Ingredient 1: Speak to Zhu Qinmeng at the Peking Duck House for “Peking Duck.” Ingredient 2: Speak to Ooyang Ming at the Fruit Basket for “monk fruit.” Ingredient 3: Speak to Fan Xiaoru at Nihao Flowers for “sweet olives.” You may be able to skip ingredients 1 and 2 by repeatedly speaking to Jiang Youqun for quest details until she tells you about flowers. Regardless, report to Jiang Youqun once you have “sweet olives” and make sweet olive sushi to complete the quest.Niaowu Tour – Speak to the tour guide Wu Xiuming at the Ferry Terminal to begin the quest. He will ask you to find 6 flags. Flag 1: Found on the pier where you disembarked from the boat. Flag 2: Found in Vendor Avenue across from Buddha Heaven. Flag 3: Found on the path to Hua Xiao Temple. Flag 4: Found to the right of the Liu Jiao shrine entrance. Flag 5: Found behind the second section of Liu Jiao shrine. Flag 6: Found to the right of the Golden Goose. Speak to Wu Xiuming after finding all 6 flags to complete the quest.Hidden Treasure – Speak to Bai Zizi from the Exotic Books stand to begin the quest. She will ask that you retrieve her doll from Wei Demin. Find Demin to the left of the Blue Skies Gallery on Vendor Avenue and speak with him. Next, proceed to the empty lot near the entrance of Vendor Avenue where you will find a Yellow Panda on top of a crate. Return the panda to Bai Zizi to complete the quest.Makeover Girl – Speak to Shi Weimin from Stonehead Haircuts to begin the quest. He will ask you to find a woman willing to model a new haircut. Speak to Myao just outside of the Golden Goose. A cutscene will play of Myao receiving a haircut and the quest will be completed.Stolen Sutra – Speak to Lin Shiling at Liu Jiao shrine to begin the quest. Go to the Golden Goose and speak with Ren. Next, proceed to the Cash First pawn shop and speak with Peng Junjie. He will charge you 200 Yuan for the stolen goods. Pay for the stolen goods and return them to Lin Shiling to complete the quest.Troubled Drug Store – Speak with Pan Zhiyao from the Healthy Drug pharmacy. He will request 3 herbs: huang qin root, coptis root, and da huang root stalk. The da huang root stalk is exclusive to this quest and is found in the gated area next to Hotel Niaowu behind a boulder. The huang qin root and coptis roots can be found in Duck Heaven and elsewhere throughout Niaowu if you do not already have one of each. Once you have the complete set, return to Pan Zhiyao to complete the quest. The Greatest Fortune - Speak with Shi Jiesheng at the Lucky Number Fortunes shop. After receiving your fortune, go to the Snowman Ice Cream shop in New Paradise and you will encounter two thugs. Beat them up and return to the fortune teller to complete the quest. Below are the 4 items and a cheap place to purchase them from: Blue fan - Traveler's Goods Xiaolongbao - Crazy Dim Sum Monk Fruit - The Fruit Basket Niaowu Walker - Dusty PagesCatch the Skipper! - Ma Jialing at the front desk of Hotel Niaowu will ask you to collect the hotel fee of a client that skipped out on the bill. You can find the client right behind the forklift warehouse. He will fight you when you encounter him. Simply defeat him and return the bill to Ma Jialing to complete the quest.Ren to the Rescue - Ren will roam around the area near Hotel Niawu once you first encounter him in the story. Speak to him to begin the quest. Go to Tough Guy Herbs where you will find an Almond Mushroom on sale for 50 yuan. Purchase the mushroom and return to Ren in the area near Hotel Niawu. He will later appear outside the Peace of Pawn shop. Speak to him again to complete the quest.River Fishing Festival - Speak to Tang Yingqiu at the Get River Fish shop to begin the quest. Speak to Yang Yingiu again at 3 PM while carrying the most fish to complete the quest.Vegetable Vigilance – Speak to Shi Zirou at the Villiage Vegetable stand to begin the quest. You be asked to find a termite mushroom. Return to Zou Leyong with the flower to complete the quest. Pink Panda of Happiness – Speak to Lang Baodong at the Lion Smart Ball to begin the quest. She will ask you to find a pink panda. The pink panda can be won at the Lucky Hit stand near Hotel Niaowu. Give the pink panda to Lang Baodong to complete the quest.Pink Panda of Happiness – Speak to Lang Baodong at the Lion Smart Ball to begin the quest. She will ask you to find a pink panda. Flag 6: Found to the right of the Golden Goose.Hidden Treasure – Speak to Bai Zizi from the Exotic Books bookstore stand to begin the quest. Pay for and receive the stolen goods and return them to Lin Shiling to complete the quest.Troubled Drug Store – Speak with Pan Zhiyao from the Healthy Drug pharmacy. He will request 3 herbs: huang qin root, coptis root, and de huang root stalk. The de huang root stalk is exclusive to this quest and is found in the gated area next to Hotel Niaowu near a boulder. The huang qin root and coptis roots can be found in Duck Heaven and elsewhere throughout Niaowu if you do not already have one of each. It is complicated to know where to go and when to go Don't worry, for whatever reason there are blank pages both before and after the "Ren to the Rescue" sidequest. I suspect it was either rushed or unfinished in some way. You haven't missed anything yet. 4 minutes ago, Siriodorione said: thank you very much You're welcome! Good luck! Siriodorione
I only need 3 techniques: spiral cut, mealstorm strike, eclipse kick. I would like to buy them like I did with almost all the others but I can't find them. Will a new store be unlocked at the end of the game?
