I'm not very good at this, so I'm not sure what to say or how to make this thread as fabulous as the others that are posted here, but I'll do my best! What I hope to accomplish with this thread is to actually keep up with gaming with this year and FINALLY get rid of at least some of my backlog. There's so many amazing games just sitting in my library, either untouched or completely forgotten about and, quite frankly, they deserve better. I want to do game reviews, too, but my reviews are absolute shit lmao Usually just a paragraph or two detailing my thoughts about said game. I usually feel bad posting about stuff because it feels like I'm being annoying to keep bumping my own thread, but I want to make this like a book of my journey through gaming, you know? I dunno if it'll work out or not, but here goes, I suppose. [Stray] (1/1/2023) So, I want my first platinum of 2023 to be Stray because I really love this game (and someone suggested it to me in the advise the plat thread) so I got to work cleaning up the trophies I haven't yet acquired. There were 11 trophies I needed in order to get this plat and most of them I knocked out before the clock ticked over. The rest I got after. Now, there's two trophies left - I am Speed and the plat. Read More: Spoiler I'm really worried about the speed trophy because I panic under timed situations. Like, panic and freeze up lol Plus, my original playthrough was nearly 8 hours long because I have to look at everything. I did get a nice refresher on a few of the levels as I went through them for trophy cleanup but I'm still not confident. I plan to live stream my first attempt after I do some studying so I know what I need to do and what I don't need to do. I also want to take a moment to talk about a frustrating, hell trophy that really messed me up. I'm sure you know what I'm referring to, huh? Can't Cat-ch Me - Complete the first Zurk pursuit without being caught. This is, by far, one of the most FRUSTRATING trophies I've ever gone after. As a casual hunter, I would normally say feck it after so many failed attempts (looking at you flappy goat, you jerk,) but I really love this game and I really want the platinum. Plus, I want this to be my first plat of the year. It feels special to me and it feels right. However, my hopes were quickly spiraling into the abyss with this damn trophy. I spent about 3 hours or so (though it felt more like 20) trying to get this. Fail after fail after fail after fail... I watched so many videos, read so many comments and guides, but I just couldn't grasp it. Because of my mental health issues, this wasn't just a failure for me. This was... deeper, I guess. Which each fail, I felt worse and worse, thinking, "These guys got it, why can't I? Why am I so damn bad at games?" I wasn't thinking that it was just bad luck or bad RNG, I was just content with saying I'm terrible and that's why. I started to think that I would never get this trophy and thus, would never get the platinum for a game that I enjoyed and held close to my heart. I was frustrated beyond belief, but I didn't want to give up. I kept thinking, "just one more try, just one more! This is the one!" But one try turned into 50 which turned into 100 lol I took breaks, I tried listening to music, I tried listening to YouTube, I tried zigging and zagging, I tried brute forcing it and just running through them all. Nothing seemed to be working. And again, I was content with putting the blame solely on myself and how trash I am at games. I decided to look at the comments of one of the YouTube videos and I realized I wasn't alone. Loads of people were struggling, spending hours trying to get the trophy only to make it to the end and fail, just like me. The RNG is... a bit insane. Sometimes, they were delayed in spawning, giving me plenty of time to get by. Other times, they were spawned in droves before I even got to them. Sometimes they seemed to be using aim bots and locked on instantly, jumping on me from a distance they shouldn't be able to make. And those tight alleys... there's barely enough room to breathe, must less dodge! I have mad respect for the devs of this game, but whoever thought of this trophy... they are a true sadist that even Fuji Shuusuke would be proud of, man. With all that said, I am proud to announce that I got the trophy! Constant zigzagging seemed to be the strat that worked for me, plus going to the opposite side of where they spawn. Even with this, it took a lot of trial and error. While playing, I noticed something - my thumb kept sliding off the stick and I kept having to adjust - precious seconds just waiting to be jumped! So, I tried something. I taped my thumb to the stick so it wouldn't slide off. I was worried this would end in another fail because it made the stick movement a bit stiff but... somehow, some way, IT WORKED on the first feckin try. The tape worked, guys T_T)/ Is that pathetic to admit? lol Oh well. I probably shouldn't admit that I also started crying after I got it... A happy new year indeed. Now I just need to study and do my best to be speed cat >D Oh, I almost forgot. Did you know that when you collect all the memories, your jacket changes? Check him out, he's so cute! I studied this YouTube video to learn some tips and tricks that could cut down on my time. God, I was sooo nervous the whole run and I kept panicking and making mistakes. I even died like 5 times (those loading screens, jesus christ) :/ I'm not a good gamer lmao My original playthrough before trophy hunting was nearly 8 hours long so I had zero confidence that I could get this done. But alas, I have taken the power of the cat and I have conquered all ? My final time was, drum roll please: I was honestly surprised because I had a timer going but I didn't account for the couple of times I paused to change the settings and I accidentally deleted the timer and had to try and remember what the last time was. It was an absolute MESS but when people say this game is forgiving, they're not wrong! There's nothing professional here at all. You've been warned. Okay, so, I saw this listed on the F2P thread and added it to my library. It didn't look like anything super impressive on the store so I didn't download it right away, then I saw a comment about the game saying it didn't take too long to complete. Since one of my Bingo slots is a game you can complete in one sitting, I thought I'd give it a try and see if I could knock it out quickly and if I could add it to my list. First off, there's no story so I'm not going to include it. Secondly... well, I don't wanna say it's terrible but it's definitely not for me. Read More: Spoiler As a certified dumbass, I'm not fond of games that just throw you in the deep end before telling you how to swim. I recently made a ranty post on my blog about tutorials and hand-holding, but I think tutorials are still important. It's like games struggle to find the perfect balance, at least for me. They either hold your hand and treat you like a child or they throw you in without any help at all. This game is the latter. You just start playing without knowing where you are, who you are, or what the feck you're doing with your life. Also, who thought it was okay to make the shoot button THE LEFT STICK?? Do you know how long I ran in circles spamming every button that MOST games use as a shooting button only to find the controls in the menu and realize it's the LEFT FECKIN' STICK?? That should honestly be a crime. It just feels so awkward and I don't like it. Now, I have a total of like 2 friends, both of whom play different game genres and don't really play with me that often. And sure, you CAN solo this game and get it done, others have, but it makes the experience even LESS fun and even MORE frustrating. There is an online matchmaking but I sat there for like 10 minutes two different times before giving up. I will say when I first got on the game, I immediately went to co-op mode and got a match fairly quick, but because I had NO IDEA what the feck I was doing, I did nothing but run around and die (if you're that person that was there with me, I am so feckin' sorry, I tried to act as a meat shield for you.) There is couch co-op but, again, I have no friends IRL and my cat refuses to learn how to use a controller. However, the guide posted on this site for the game offered up a handy little tip - even if you're not playing with someone, it's handy to have the extra character there in case you die. This is the strat I was forced to go with since I couldn't find another online match. I chose the 3-player option but only connected a second controller. You need the second controller to move the character over to your main character on the occasion that the door is too far away from the second and third characters so your main is off screen and can't open the door. You only need to move 1 closer in order to see the door. While those two stood there taking all the damage, I would attack the creatures and try to pop down that healing pet next to them so they don't die as quick. It's a solid strat, but there's one flaw - the feckin' respawn time. It gets longer each time they die so unless you wanna risk it for the biscuit, you're gonna be sitting there waiting for a hot ass minute. There's also no way to know where the boss is or IF the boss will be there so you're basically just running around like a headless chicken hoping you don't die and have to start over. I'm not sure if this boss mechanic is meant to be this way, like "maybe he'll be there maybe he won't you'll never know~" or if it's just a glitch. Either way, if you're soloing it, it's gonna take some time to get that boss trophy. I'll admit, the other trophies seem to be pretty easy to get. I was gettin' em left and right without even knowing how or why lmao This game just feels very boring and painful to play and I'm so glad it's free because I woulda been VERY disappointed if I paid for this - and satan knows I have enough regrets in my damn life XD I guess if you're playing this with friends, it might be more amusing/fun. That's probably how it's intended to be played, honestly. It probably didn't help that I had a massive headache during my playthrough, either, though. This game felt more like a chore than a game, it was super repetitive, there's sooo much backtracking, and those damn respawn times, jesus. I know I complained about it already but you could take a feckin' vacation and come back and they'd still be reviving. Finally, I got tired of waiting and just started running room to room looking for the damn boss lmao Those free pets you get for binding your email are a lifesaver. I used the ones recommended in the guide and they are pretty OP. The fire one destroys everything and the healing one spits out lives. I would drop it down beside the two characters I wasn't usin' and they'd keep getting healed while I killed stuff with the fire dog. It took me 3 hours on the same feckin' map to find that damn boss ._.) I hate everything. And I still needed 2000 coins for the last trophy. I didn't have to worry about dying and missing the boss, though, so who cares how many times I died and got sent back. The only issue is the damn loading screen. Well, the logo is cool, at least. I got to stare at it for a while before I realized the game was frozen and NOT loading so I had to restart. This is so not how I planned to spend my morning. Here's a life hack for the coins, though - if you leave the first room and go back in, the boxes will respawn. And if you get lucky, the second room will also have boxes so you can keep going back and forth to farm coins without wasting time on fighting. And I know what you're thinking - "if you hate it so much, why keep playing?" Because I have enough unfinished games on my damn profile and I don't want another one lmao And also trophies. And also also I might be a masochist, who knows. I will say this, though - whatever level THIS is, it's pretty feckin' cool and I love the blue. Ever since I was young, I'd always hang out the window in the car, feeling the wind rush past me and wondering what it would be like to be a bird. In this game, you play as a bird collecting feathers across multiple worlds. I need more calm in my life, after all. It's a casual, simple game. It's supposed to be calming and relaxing... It's feckin infuriating. The first level is deceiving because it's pretty, runs smoothly and it is, in fact, quite relaxing. If only the whole game was like that... Half the levels have shitty frame rate - like markiplier-playing-hand-sim bad frames. It was so bad that I could barely move. Had to restart the game a few times and it still didn't fix it. I was gonna make a joke about how disappointing it is that the bird cant swim, but I'm so disappointed and frustrated that I don't even care about joking. There's no order to the levels - the trophies are numbered but the worlds are just slapped on the screen randomly with no way to tell which is which. There's also no indication that you've completed a world. Read More: Spoiler Half the levels are eye bleedingly bright. I mean, look at this bullshit: That is an unedited screenshot taken straight from the game. Can you see the feathers? Because I sure as feck can't. How am I supposed to RELAX and be CALM collecting feathers when I can't SEE any feckin' thing?? It physically made my eyes hurt, gave me a headache, and made me want to commit murder. Yet when you finish the two parts of one world, you get a message telling you to just relax and breathe ._.) Are the devs fecking with me?? Sure feels like it. The trails of the birds wings are also annoying as hell when I'm trying to collect a feather that I can barely see and the sky is filled with the trail as I circle around trying to get the angle right. It's so bright I can't see if I even collected the damn thing so I have to keep doubling back and I also can't see the feckin counter in the bottom corner. This game makes me want to choose violence. When I can actually see the level, it's not a bad game. I can see the potential here and it could have been a decent game, but the bright levels and frame drops makes it almost unplayable. It's painful and boring and I honestly regret buying this game... And it was on sale! Another thing that frustrates me is that you can't move the camera. Usually you move the character with left and move the camera with right, but both sticks move the character so I can't even look around to try and find the feathers. On most levels, I have to dive down toward the ground just so incan try and see them against the sky, but I can't SEE the ground and if you touch anything, you get sent back to the start. It doesn't reset your progress, thank Satan. There's also no speed up button so it moves at the same slow crawl. It took me over an hour to finish one level because of these issues when it should have only taken twenty minutes or less. I guess what they say is true; "You get what you pay for." Pay 5 bucks or less and you'll probably get a shitty game :/ My head hurts and I hate everything. Again. AND THEY HAVE 14 OTHER GAMES WTF. TL;DR: NO. I have respect for people who can flip stuff like that because I'm terrible at it. It's a damn good way to save money, though. That's a nice flip, grats, man! I've considered buying game bundles on amazon or ebay but used games worry me (though to be fair, everything kinda worries me pft) 80 dollars in GS credit is impressive, though. I knew about this game as soon as it came out because I saw that Jacksepticeye played it and everyone was talking about it. However, my dumbass had the impression that the cat died at the end so I avoided this game. People dying? No problem. Animals dying? I hate you. CATS dying? I hate everything and I’m sobbing. So I finally got it because it was on sale and this is literally the BEST purchase I have made in 28 years of life. The game starts out with two of my absolute favorite things – rain and cats. This is my dream game, bro, I get to be a cat that can destroy pottery and mahjong games and go around meowing every half second. This is literally the best game ever created. Read More: Spoiler I was surprised by the futuristic/sci-fi themes. I usually don’t like these but this was really interesting and cool. I love how he formed a bond with B12 to try and find his way home. And the little details, bro! The way he reacts when the jacket is first put on him, the little footprints when he walks through paint… they’re so small and most people wouldn’t notice them but I appreciate them sooo much. For the most part, this game is pretty chill. There’s no giant bosses you need to outsmart or enemies to fight, but there are enemies you need to run away from – mainly those bastard zurks. They’re like these weird half-maggot half-spider things that eat EVERYTHING. And if you’re going for the plat, you have to spare them in the sewers and at the start of the game you can’t be grabbed by them – this trophy made me want to commit die. It was terrible and took multiple hours to finally get it. This is the only terrible trophy imo. The rest of the trophies are easy and another detail I really enjoyed was that when you collect all of B12s memories, his jacket changes from black to this colorful chromatic jacket and IT’S SO COOL. I love it and wish I could have wore it in my second playthrough. Speaking of playthroughs, my first playthrough was nearly 8 hours long because I was exploring everything – and still somehow missed a few memories lmao I talked to every robot, too, though most of them didn’t have much to say. Because of this, I thought there was NO WAY I could get the speed trophy, which requires you to play the game in under 2 hours. I made so many mistakes even following a guide and I died a bunch of times, but I still had plenty of time left by the time I reached the end. It’s really forgiving, which I’m thankful for. With that, I was able to make this beautiful game my first platinum of 2023. I think they really got the cat to act perfectly. He reacts just like a cat would and I just love it so much. I like to imagine what my cats would do in an apocalyptic world filled with robots. Honestly, I doubt they’d care lmao One thing I am confused on is the story, but that might just be because I’m slow. I don’t understand what happened to the humans or what those creepy ass eyeballs are in the sewer. Where did the zurks come from? What about the robots? How did they gain sentience? Look at this precious baby, man, I just wanna pat him on the head and tell him he did a great job. I love how the robots interact with him, too. Like, they are scared of him at first because they think he’s a zurk but they’re so nice to him afterward. When Momo patted the stool beside him and then patted his head when he jumped up – – and this shot of the guardian patting him are so precious! This baby deserves all the pats in the world. He’s the best cat ever. Give this baby some damn cat food! Also, RIP every carpet in this game. Also also, Seamus best boi. Just look at how happy he is to – well, I was gonna say something but I think it might be a spoiler so I’ll let you just imagine why he’s so happy We need a DLC featuring Seamus, come on lol Everyone loves kitty, okay. (spoiler incoming) Spoiler Also, I’m not quite happy with the ending. I love the ending shot where he finally returns to the outside, it’s a beautiful shot. And the little screen that lights up giving us hope that B12 is still alive – which I didn’t notice until my second playthrough. However, HE DIDN’T FIND HIS FRIENDS. That was the whole point, reuniting him with his family and it was a let down that that didn’t happen. I’m holding out hope that there will be a Stray 2 where we have to navigate the outside world to try and find them! (spoiler end) Overall, I’m really happy with this game and have no real complaints aside from the ending. It’s a beautiful story, a rich world with interesting characters. The world is beautiful and you just wanna run around and explore while also causing havoc by knocking over everything in sight and making robots drop paint lmao This shot here he did on his own. I was looking at a video to find the next collectible I missed and he just decided he wanted to lay down and look cute so I had to take the shot. In my opinion, this should have been game of the year, but I also don’t like Elden Ring and God of War is okay. I’m totally biased toward this game and I’m glad it won best Indie. This will forever be one of my absolute favorite games and I would love to be able to experience it for the first time again. Please play Stray It’s a beautiful game that deserves all the love in the world. Like, come on, you can be DJ Cat for feck’s sake! How can you say no to that? I wasn’t able to “finish” this game because I didn’t have enough time to get the last trophy, but I played enough to voice my opinion on this game. So let’s get into it! I first played this game in October of 2020, about a month after it was released on the PS4. God, it does not feel like I first played that long ago, it only feels like a year lol I won my very first match and got 4 trophies while doing so which felt insane to me. It was cool but it felt so… wrong. I’m TERRIBLE at pvp and I never win anything, so the fact that I won my FIRST match… it felt like I just slipped into the twilight zone okay. I actually hate pvp and battle royale games, they’re not my thing for multiple reasons, the main reason being that I don’t like people and these games make me SUPER anxious. I do dabble in these games sometimes, but only in moderation. Read More Spoiler When I heard that this game was closing soon, I was like, “Okay, I’ll give this game another try and collect some more trophies before the game falls into the cracks of history.” It’s nice to be like, “yeah I was there, I played that, I got some trophies from that game that’s no longer available.” It’s a nice feeling. However… I failed to get the 100%, missing just one. damn. trophy. I failed at my goal and there’s only one reason for this – I gave up before I started. The server closed on the 10th of January and I returned to the game on the 4th of January. I told myself multiple times that there was no way in hell I could get all classes to level 14 before the game closed. Because of this, I didn’t spend as much time as I could have grinding. But to be honest, I was trying to play the best I could rather than just getting the xp for reaching the end of the match so I wasted so much time joining matches and dying soon after. As it turns out… it was very doable. The game went on for for about 13 or so hours after the timer hit zero and I was almost there. I was just about to hit 14 on one class and then I had one more to do at level 8. If I had put in the work properly, I could have gotten it and I think that’s what pisses me off the most. I’ve always been a self-sabotager and seeing it work in real time is super frustrating and annoying. Now, that game will sit at 71% forever because the game is no longer playable. Let’s just say, I won’t be forgiving myself for this anytime soon… Matchmaking was pretty slow, taking a minimum of 6 minutes to find a match. This might have been because the server was closing so people figured there was no point in playing. I always chose squad because it’s less stressful to me when I’m on a team, but I usually ended up alone anyway, which was more stressful because I was alone against full teams. Activity picked up as the timer ticked down and it was taking 2-4 minutes for a match. Once I started to play again, I realized that it was actually kinda fun, like Apex but with magic instead of guns. It still felt weird as hell that I was actually doing really well. At first, anyway. Once the big hitters got online, I was lucky to last 10 minutes which was frustrating when I was trying to grind xp. I regret not playing this game more, but like I said, PVP isn’t my thing and I had other games that I was more interested in. I’m not entirely sure why they decided to close down, I heard they were bought out by Blizzard or something? Maybe they’ll bring it back one day, who knows. The game wasn’t fun for long, though… It’s very repetitive which, I know I know, it’s a battle royale, of course it’s repetitive. But there’s only one map and it got boring doing the same map over and over again. Especially since I was grinding, I was super fucking anxious while playing. I have an anxiety disorder so I’m anxious on a good day, but my heart was racing and I jumped every time I was attacked. I ran for my life, my whole body tense because all I wanted was to survive to the end so I could get the xp to level up. But goddamn, those people don’t play. They LITERALLY chased me across the map and wouldn’t stop. Like yeah, I get it, the whole point is to kill other players. But is it really fun to chase someone across the map who isn’t even attacking you or fighting back? You passed how many people and loot on the way, yet you’re still focused on killing me? I won’t lie, along with being anxious as hell I was getting pissed. I didn’t care about winning or fighting, I just wanted to survive, but it was getting harder and harder and I don’t know why. On the last day, I stayed awake for over 24 hours grinding this game. It was a bad decision because my anxiety levels were topping the charts and I almost had a panic attack more than a couple times. I was exhausted and frustrated and I just wanted to get the xp and move on. It may be stupid, but I can’t STAND when people keep trying to kill you even though you’re not fighting back. It happens a lot in open world games and it pisses me off more than anything. Like, congrats, you managed to kill someone repeatedly who didn’t even ATTEMPT to fight you off. Feel like a big man, now? It’s kinda shitty and it gets under my skin like nothing else. So, running off anxiety and lack of sleep along with the pressure of not knowing when the server would finally shut down and then dealing with one of my biggest pet peeves… it was not a good time at all. As of writing this, it’s the early morning of the 11th. I’ve gotten some sleep, but I still haven’t fully recovered from my high anxiety levels. The best way I can describe it is… you know how in some games, weapons have heat levels? Use it too much and it overheats and takes time to cool down before you can use it again. It’s like that for me. If my anxiety gets too high, my body kinda… not really shuts down but stops functioning properly until I’ve “cooled off” and my anxiety levels have lowered. Usually takes a couple days, so I’m still dealing with that. And I don’t even have a trophy to show for it… I did most of my matches in a squad because I feel less pressure in a team. But somehow, at the same time, I also feel more pressure lmao Like, I don’t want to be a burden to my team but I usually am. I’m always the first to die despite trying my best but I always gave my team the first pick of good loot if they were nearby. I survived a lot more on solo simply because I hid and ran away when I saw others – I know I’m a coward, okay. In a squad, though, I can’t just abandon my team when they rush head first at the enemy. Well, I mean technically I CAN, but I feel bad doing that. At the very least, I was happy to act as a punching bag for the enemy, making them focus on me while my teammates fought… or ran away and left me to die. I met sooo many people in squad matches that would attack their own team, killing us or getting rid of our armor as soon as we put some on, people that would just stand there as we fought, doing nothing to help us only to swoop in once we were dead, kill everyone, and then run away without even reviving us. Like, WHY? What’s the point of playing a SQUAD match if you care nothing about your team and refuse to help them? It annoyed me so feckin’ much. I know these people exist in all MMOs but it’s just frustrating. I honestly think I would have liked this game a lot more if there was a story mode to it. I know most games like this don’t have one, but I think it would’ve made the game better. Like, what’s the story behind the breakers? Where did these powerful gauntlets come from? What about those annoying guardian NPCs that always kill me when I’ve just landed and have no gear? Why are we fighting other breakers? I need some lore here, okay, I have too many questions! There are 6 classes (gauntlets) to choose from – Pyromancer, Stoneshaper, Conduit, Toxicologist, Frostborn, and Tempest. And there’s also an overall mage level that increases no matter which class you play. Pyromancer is the first class I reached 14 on because it’s my favorite Here’s a breakdown of each class according to my own experience. My absolute favorite class. The gauntlet shoots fireballs at the enemy and the special is a wall of flame that does a decent chunk of damage. It also sets stuff on fire. If I had played the game more, this would have been my highest class after getting them all to 14. One of the OP 3 classes, in my opinion. The main attack is punching the ground which sends a crack through the ground in front of you and it does quite a bit of damage. Not good against people who refuse to stay on the ground for more than 2 seconds, but this is the reason for most of my kills lol The special hurls a boulder and if you take a direct hit, it does so much damage. I’m not sure how it happened, but my character ended up getting two boulders to throw before it went on cooldown. This can be an annoying one if you’re on the receiving end because it shocks you (obviously) and stuns you for a few seconds. You hurl bolts of electricity with your main attack and summon a storm in a small area with your ultimate ability. Another of the OP 3 classes. The main attack is… I think 3 or 4 strips of toxic liquid that creates a puddle of toxic liquid on the ground where it lands and yes, it hurts, even if you stand in your own puddle. The ability is pretty OP, creating a cloud of toxic gas that does sooo much damage. The last of the OP 3 and my least favorite class. The main attack is the OP part, creating a bow and arrow out of ice. If you pull it all the way back and hit someone with it, it’s a one shot kill 90% of the time and it’s ridiculous. However, it’s offset by the fact that your opponent is rarely ever still and it takes time to aim, so getting this one shot kill is rare. It also creates a line of ice beneath the area that you can slide across. If you stand on this ice created by the enemy, it will slow and freeze you. The ultimate is an ice storm that freezes the enemy, but it goes down where you’re standing. No aiming and no moving with you so it’s only really useful if the enemy is right on you, but that doesn’t happen often unless you’re running at them. This one is pretty cool. The main attack is shooting these little wind shurikens at the enemy that made me feel like a ninja. The ultimate is a giant tornado that sucks you into it and it’s hard to get away from. I don’t actually know if it does damage, I never paid enough attention, just tried to get away from it. Most of these abilities have to be manually aimed, though, which I guess offsets the fact that they are powerful and do a lot of damage. Most of mine missed because of this and the fact that most people move too much or don’t stay on the ground at all. There’s also elemental reactions that can make them more powerful. For example, if you shoot fire at the toxic cloud, it explodes. If you shoot toxic gas at the tornado, it turns into a toxic tornado. It’s a really cool mechanic that I wish I could have experimented with more. One thing I did not like was the ability to hurt yourself and your teammates with your own abilities. When you’re in the heat of battle, it can be difficult to keep track of the enemy and your teammate and I always felt so guilty when I was the reason my teammate lost health or, worse, died. There’s also a lot of other things that could turn the tide of battle. Along with the gauntlets that start at white (common), you can find upgraded versions of them along with runes and armor. Like most games, they go white, blue, purple, and orange (being legendary.) I can’t remember what blue and purple are, honestly. The runes are also a game changer if you get the right ones. When I was just doing solo xp runs, it meant A LOT of running from the enemy. These are the most useful or fun ones in my opinion: Invisibility: You go invisible (covered in purple on your own screen) which helps you with running away or sneaky attacks. You can use potions without breaking it, but if the opponent hits you with a random attack, it breaks it. I don’t know if dashing is also supposed to break it, but it did for me sometimes. Flight: This is EASILY the most fun rune and it’s also good for running away. You shoot up into the air before shooting forward like feckin’ superman. Not only can you get away easily, you can easily outrun the coming storm. It’s also just really fun, did I mention that? Featherfall: It shoots you up into the air and gives you a slow landing. Surprisingly good for running away and it’s also pretty because you get a trail of feathers. Wolf’s Blood: Using this lets you see the nearby enemies in red. I only used this when in squads because it made me feel useful to them for the first time lmao The worst rune, in my honest opinion, is that chronomaster(?) one. I never figured it out and it’s just annoying. When you use it, it creates this time distortion that activates after a few seconds, pulling you back to the point you used it. It always messed me up rather than helping me. I really wish I could have gotten a pic of my stats before the server went down, but it went down in the middle of a match so I couldn’t get it. I did get a screenshot of my BEST match, though, and I’m super proud of it! 6 exiles in one match, I never thought I could pull that off haha I will admit that this game is really feckin’ beautiful. The scenery is so nice and I wish I could have gotten more screenshots of it. I did grab this one, though. It’s one of my favorite areas with these maple(?) trees that are gorgeous. It’s also a really small detail that I doubt anyone noticed, but the grass actually moves with the wind! I noticed it when I was hiding at the edge of the map where it’s most windy. It was quite beautiful if you ignore the SCREAMING WIND in your ear. It’s a nice detail that I’m glad they added. I also want to give a shoutout to @GEOR22_GR and @BartholomeusM who helped me get the Stalwart Savior trophy. I was really stressing this because I found a bunch of people who said they were willing to help me but they never got around to it except for these two. I was getting more anxious as the time ticked down so I’m thankful to them for helping. Another thing I wish there was more of was customization. Like, I wish you could customize how your character looks in regards to their hair, eyes, etc. You can buy costumes and stuff from the shop, but they’re expensive and it takes time to build up the coins needed to buy them. The final thing I want to talk about is the names. I refuse to believe that each match was filled with actual people. I think most of them were just advanced bots used to fill half empty lobbies, but I can’t prove this. It’s mostly just the names and the fact that most of them would immediately game end as soon as the match started and most of them were ALWAYS in my matches. Here’s some of my favorite names that I came across and got a nice laugh from. NowYouSeeDeadPeople (which I made a joke about because the first time I saw this name, he had been killed and I was like, “yeah I see dead people, it’s you” which I thought was funny but probably isn’t.) And, of course, IllegalSandwhichCombination which leaves me wondering which sandwhich combinations are deemed illegal. Also, I’m a bush (I was a bush a lot when earning xp. It worked only half the time.) If you can read it, ItalianDressing. (I originally captured this photo to show off the wind moving the grass but then I realized you can’t feckin’ see that in a photo lmao) I laughed so hard when I read that EvilToaster- killed HoudinisLeftShoe. Talk about the top 10 anime betrayals! Don’t forget about PomeranianWarDog, I hear they are vicious as hell on the battlefield! They’ve seen some shit, man. I am so sorry to TheFloorIsPizza. I didn’t want to do it to ya man, but it was an honor to fight you. With that, I think I’ve said everything I have to say about this game. It was a fun experience and it’s a shame it got shut down. I have lots of regrets here, but that’s nothing new. I did manage to capture ALOT of videos about my matches which I’m still working on uploading to my YouTube channel. This game was on sale as part of the year-end sale. I looked it up and it looked like a unique and interesting concept. Without spoiling anything, you play as a ghost detective who has to solve his own murder in order to move on to the afterlife, but his murder ends up being part of a string of murders that had been plaguing Salem (you know, that place where the witch trials took place.) I’ve seen loads of detective games, but none where you play as a ghost. Actually, I don’t think I know of any games where you play as a ghost, either. Wait, you can do that in Among Us lmao Anyway, this game seemed intriguing and it was on sale so I took a chance on it. I was surprised to find out it’s a Square Enix game because apparently, I can’t feckin’ read. I was hooked on this game from the moment I started it! The story is really intriguing and so are the ghost abilities you develop as the game progresses. You can’t just enter homes, you have to possess someone and follow them inside and there are some structures you can’t go through so you gotta find a way around. There are also these short side stories to complete (which you need for the platinum.) The collectibles aren’t too difficult to find, but there are a few in unlikely places. I did have to start a new game because there’s no chapter select however, the game saves your progress. So if you start a new game and you find the one collectible that you’re missing, it’ll trigger the trophy! Read More Spoiler Like most detective games, I try to figure out who is responsible for whatever the crime is and this game is no exception. I thought I was right, but there was a major twist at the end that threw me for a loop. My jaw was literally hanging open, I couldn’t believe it! It starts a bit slow, like most games, but once I started to get further into the story, I really got hooked. There weren’t any bugs or glitches that I noticed and the voice acting was really good. I love the main character, Ronan. Even his name is cool! Ronan O’Conner, damn. This game also has one of my favorite quotes: “We all got a dark side. Sometimes obvious, sometimes hidden. If we’re lucky, we keep our dark side hidden.” – Ronan I’m so glad I took a chance on this game, it was fantastic! I'll have a review posted soon, but for now I just wanted to post a little update. Bully is my 32nd platinum and by completing it, I've checked off a few challenges, as well! I-4 of the Bingo Bonanza 2023 challenge. The color Tan of the PSNP Kaleidoscope Challenge. The letter B of The Casual A-Z Club. The Sport genre of the Every Genre Challenge. I'm feeling really good right now. I've been meaning to finish Bully for soooo long but just never got around to it. There were too many other games, too many other things, pulling at my short attention span. I didn't realize it was 5 years, though, damn... It's sad to move on from this game because, as frustrating as it could be, it was a damn good game that has withstood the test of time. I'm even considering getting it on my phone haha Having it as part of these four challenges really helped to motivate me to finally finish it and it feels good to do so. It also feels good to make progress in these challenges ? In my defense, I get obsessed with stuff and focus only on that for a while but then I move on for a while (in this case 5 years pft.) I thank the Bingo, Kaleidoscope and Casual A-Z challenges for giving me the motivation needed to FINALLY finish this game. Bully is one of those classic games that can easily withstand the test of time. It’s such a good game with a damn good story and pretty cool characters. The main character has that little brother feel to me and I had that feeling throughout my playthrough. Read More Spoiler I wanted him to succeed so I tried my best. And by “tried my best” I mean I failed a shit ton of times. Which brings me to my first complaint. When you fail a mission, there’s no option to retry, it just kicks you out and you have to run ALL the way back to the NPC that gave you that quest. This is super annoying, especially if you’re like me and fail a lot. I ended up giving up a few times because I got tired of having to run back and do everything over lol This is pretty understandable given the game’s age, though. Another really weird thing for me is the button layout. Like, instead of O being the back button, it’s triangle. The amount of times I sat there pressing the O button repeatedly wondering why the feck nothing was happening lol And to pause the game, you press the touch pad instead of options. L2 and R2 cycle through your weapons/items, while you aim with L1 and shoot with R1. That kept messing me up on Mass Effect because I was pressing the wrong button (but I did learn the Mako has boost so it’s not all bad.) I didn’t learn this until I was literally on the LAST chapter of the game, but you have to press the left side of the touch pad to get the map up. As someone who gets lost easily, this would have been really helpful lol The trophies are all pretty simple, at least for the PS4 version. I didn’t really have any trouble with any except for “Sharp Dressed Man.” I’m not really one to buy clothes in games unless it’s my own character, like GTA, so I only have a couple pieces bought. Between running around trying to make enough money and trying to FIND all the clothes, I think this is the trophy I spent the most time on. I was so confused because I bought out all the clothing stores, the school shop and the fair but still hadn’t reached 250. I read that the barber shop sells clothes, but I went to two and they had none so I didn’t bother checking the third. Turns out, 3rd time really is the charm lol One thing I really love about this game is the fact that, when the game ends, it doesn’t actually end. It lets you run around and continue whatever you missed so you don’t have to play through the game again to collect trophies. The fact that this game, old as it is, had the thought to do this while new games don’t is honestly incredible. They do make you sit through the credits first, though. No amount of button pushing can skip ’em. I suggest getting the flower trophy out of the way before finishing art class. You CAN flirt with guys, but there’s only like 2 or 3 that you can flirt with while you can flirt with ANY girl. I wish they had put a bit more into the NPC students… there’s only a couple unique students in each clique before they just copy and pasted them a bunch of times. It was kind of off-putting… and creepy. Maybe it’s just me, but the kiss trophy was painful. It’s so cringey watching them make out and I had to look away, it’s just uncomfortable lol And the thing with Zoe… it was so weird because he had literally met her TWO TIMES and then they were talking about love. Is that normal for fifteen year olds? Am I just old? Speaking of romance, here’s a hot take: Johnny Vincent deserves better! The whole game, I kept wishing he would just break up with that cheating [redacted]. Why did he keep taking her back? She claimed to love him but as soon as he turned around, she was making out with another guy. Not just one, either, she was with basically the whole ass school okay. My man deserves better. Period. Speaking of characters, whats-his-face nerd leader was creepy and annoying as hell. I thought he was cute at first but after seeing how he behaves, he became uglier every time he was on screen lol Derby is cute but I want to punch him sometimes. He reminds me of Atobe from Prince of Tennis in a way. Russel is the man and he is a precious idiot, okay. The gym teacher was also a creep and I hate him. Like I said before, Jimmy is great and I view him as a baby brother. Must protect. Finally, I felt bad for Pete. He’s such a good kid but everyone treats him like dirt, even Jimmy – I would smack him for this if I could. Honestly, I think he’s the only sane person in this whole damn town. I almost forgot to mention Dual Nebula. This trophy requires you to beat the high score in three different arcade games. The sumo one is the easiest, in my opinion, it only took me two or three tries. The one with the squirrel flinging nuts is second. I died a bunch of times but most of that was because I was trying to glitch it, having ZERO faith that I could do it on my own. The glitch didn’t work and I made it! Finally, the hardest one is the monkey one. It took me sooo many tries to get this one because you can’t jump over the spiders, you just gotta wedge yourself in the corner and hope for the best. It was fun, but it’s time to say goodbye, Bullworth. I think I’ve covered everything I wanted to about this game. It’s a really great game and I highly recommend checking it out.
