Problem with Near app

So I ran the app for first time to obtain trophies that require the service.

But every time I tap Near button I get this message:

Could not obtain location data. You must connect the PS Vita system to the internet. Location data cannot be obtained in areas without Wi-Fi location services.

I removed parental control and I tried 2 different connections but no luck.

I am afraid this is happening because I live in area where no one uses this app or even has a vita.

Besides Maps can't identify my location !!

Any help ?

The answer is on the Vita support site. Register your Wi-Fi Access Point via the Skyhook website - http://www.skyhookwireless.com/submit-access-point

Off-topic: answer is a funny-looking word...

I have ALWAYS thought this. An-sw-er. The W is so damn out of place it kills me.

Still works fine for me. Also, you don't get that message because there's nobody around you, it just wouldn't show anyone, not fail to connect entirely.

I want to try Skyhook website method but they need my router wireless radio mac address and to get that, they suggested a paid service.

And I am not going to spend money "$19" just for 2 or 3 trophies.

So does anyone know how to get a router wireless radio mac address for free ?

Look on the router itself. There should be a sticker on the back or underside. Unless you have changed it (it can be done in software), but I guess you haven't since you are asking.

The fee is just moneymilking from people who don't know. Knowledge is power ;)

I know that but they don't want the normal mac address (WAN/LAN mac address), they want the wireless radio mac address.

I checked my router home page and could not find other than LAN mac address.

Listing the WAP is free and the software Skyhook recommends to find the MAC addy is either free, or trialware. You don't need to spend a cent.

Alternately, search Google for "find wireless mac address" and you should find freeware apps to do the job.

Same problem here since day one when I got my Vita.

Same thing with me. Been trying it since I got my Vita, never been able to use Near or maps.

I managed to get Near work by filling out the form in the link that provided by ant1th3s1s and then submitting it

Here's an easy way to find your router wireless radio MAC Address, go to settings -> Internet Connection Status.

You will see "BSSID", It is your router wireless radio MAC Address.

Head to Settings > Network > Internet Connection Status on the Vita.
