300 treasures question

Haven't touched the game since March last year, and this is my only trophy left. I'm currently at level 127, so I have quite a "few" level to grind... Is there any event mode introduced in the game with double EXP weekend or such? Or just pick a Netflix series that I can watch while beating the core to splinters?

Meh nothing has changed, I’m more concerned about what should I watch while I farm -.- any suggestions?

OK, so I couldn't get myself to do it 6 months ago, it was too boring. Currently at level 140. I accidentally installed the latest update, and core gauntlet grinding became a lot more difficult with smarter AI. Also, they slightly changed Y'Shtola, so she has now two different forms, but both forms have slower DPS projectiles than her original version. It became way too long to finish a core gauntlet match - previously, a minute-long round was considered to be a bad match, now I shall be happy if I can finish it within a minute, as the average became a minute and a half. Also, because of the lengthier matches, it's borderline impossible to get A++, which result in around 1k EXP less after a core gauntlet run. Any tips? Y'Shtola sucks big time now, that's for sure. I don't know which marksman became better over the recent changes.

Well, probably no one cares about this game anymore, but I found a solution to my concern above.

Y'Shtola was nerfed with the rework, however the core grinding trick still works with her, just need some extra preparations.

I'm running a three-Marksmen team (Y'Shtola, Emperor, Ace, everyone is at Crystal level). For both Emperor and Ace, I added Provoke and Enfeeble as EX skills, and I'm using Leviathan as summon (for faster debuff skill gauge). For Y'Shtola, use React as your HP attack, dash near to the core, go to the ground, cast React, stand in its middle, and spam her ground forward attack, Stone, targeting the core. Recast your React spell if necessary (e.g. either it elapses or someone gets caught inside).

Also, select maps which are relatively flat (Cornelia, Lunar Subterranea, Promised Meadows, Alexandria, Streets of Rabanastre, Eden, Porta Decumana, Akademia, Obonne Monastery, The Final Battlegrounds; definitely not go for Midgar, Pandemonium, Insomnia and whatever of the name of the FFXI map with the crystal bridge in the middle), and look out for teams that consists of Assassins and/or Vanguards (and preferably no Marksmen at all, you don't want to be interrupted by projectiles). There are certain Assassins and Vanguards that are still sort of a headache, those who have tools to hit you at midrange (Squall's thundara, Sephiroth's slash projectiles, Firion's ground stuffs, Lightning's bullshit attacks), so if you can avoid those, that also helps to quicken the progress. Also be careful about specialists: I hate to play against Vaan, Ramza, Onion Knight and Ex-Death AIs, because they tend to use a lot of projectiles, including HP attacks. I found Bartz, Zenos and Kam'Lanaut quite manageable.

The method is still a bit slower on average than the one with pre-rework Y'Shtola, but not that much slower. If the conditions are right (small, flat map, against full speedy Assassin team), you can still get around 25 sec wins (my personal best is 22 sec on Promised Meadows against two Tifa and a Tidus), but calculate with an average of 40 sec. In rare cases, where you are getting spiked by the opponents and/or they are refusing to leave the core area, it can go above a minute, but it is an exception rather than a usual case. Also, if you manage to get a 40 sec win when one of your React is triggered, you more likely than not get an A++ score, or A+ at least. Overall, a full run nets you more than 10k EXP on average. Good luck everyone, and be patient. I still have more than 50 treasures to get, and it's getting painful lol.

This trophy is an absolute pain but goddammit I wanted to show my fanboy love for this series and I persevered through the offline gauntlet. I wish there were more random people online for matches instead since I never play at the same time other lobbies are open.

In any case, I got bored using Y'shtola at some point so I just went and leveled most of the other Marksmen to Crystal A this way. Other decent alternative choices are:

Ace - spam ground :circle: - decent damage, the ball persists a bit

Kefka - spam Thundaga in the air :circle: , hold it until charged - excellent damage, very short burst fire

          - combine the above with ground :circle:, hold it until charged - small but consistent packets of damage that add up quickly and last for a while

Yuna (if you have her) - spam both ground and air :circle: - exactly the same attacks with different visuals, great damage and the timing is just right for the AI to dodge in and out of the bubble for damage

Terra - just the default :circle: is fine, you can also start off with the initial charged up dash :circle: for extra starting damage

I would not recommend Ultimecia at all, since the damage is really low without Maleficarum boosts and you can't be bothered hitting the AI and wasting more time.

As a general rule, dash immediately towards the core bubble, stay around 3-4 steps away from it and spam an attack. Position yourself so your attacks are in between the core and the AI that's chasing you. That'll make the AI constantly dodge away from your attacks, typically away from the bubble as well, leaving the core open. Abuse high positions if possible, like in the XI stage, and the AI will be even more confused. Have at least one Vanguard on your team and a Specialist or Assassin in the other slot. Garland and Ramza were most successful for me, but YMMV.

I got mine at P. Lvl. 247. Good luck! You can do it! :platinum:

This game is tedious as hell, i am level 88 and dying from the inside from this boring grind. I don't know what the hell Square Enix was thinking, apparently nothing. Is there any methode someone knows which makes the grind faster? Y'shtola is slow as hell now.......

Agreed. This was one of the most miserable experiences of trophy hunting lol

Unfortunately if your save data is from a later version of the game, you can't simply go back to initial 1.0 version for the faster version of Y'shtola. The game will crash if you try to load save data from a higher version.

What's even more hilarious about reworked Y'shtola is that in a story mode cinemea sequence, she uses an attack move from her old build that she can no longer do after being reworked.

From what I gather, while Y'shtola got reworked and is no longer as fast you get more EXP for doing a core grind run now so it evens out.

This garbage excuse of a pvp game is driving me nuts. Sure lets nerf the one character who made the grind bearable. Thank you Trash Enix, you did a great job.

I would recommend The Emperor though. Not only is he the best Summon slayer, but he can end core battles really fast too! Position yourself right outside the bubble around the opponent's core and do F+BP (don't change the aim), maybe neutral and B+BP every now and then. The forward attack is really fast and has good tracking (only downside is rather short range, so you can't be too far away from the bubble). To the point where it's even to your advantage if you're blown sky high and can regain control before falling down, as the fireball will track downwards, and most enemy attacks won't reach you. Give Provoke to your teammates.

the faster version of Y'shtola.

How fast was she? I tried comparing my own run to the one found in the guide and to me the difference is kind of negligible. Maybe its because I'm at an early stage in the grind so an extra 10-30 seconds seems like a drop in the bucket.

How in the world did the fastest achiever for this game get 200 treasures in less than 2 hours?

EDIT: All I can think of is claim 99 treasures from transferring Free Edition save and then farm another 99 before claiming them all to delay popping the 100 treasures trophy. That still leave 102 treasures in less than 2 hours. There's gotta be a method we're missing on this grind to expedite the process if the fastest achiever is legit.
